Lovely food, it's in a great location. But I haven't heard very nice stuff about the staff at all by a good friend

I went for two starters, so 2nd one was: whelks on sourdough bread. Yes. With the right amount of chewiness, watercress on the side...I cannot express how much I loved it. Didn't eat bread as am not a bread person but shell fish....yum. The menu didn't have dairy-free desserts so they made me dairy-free pavlova which was so absolutely perfect - I'm taking off my imaginary hat. Service was good - attentive and making me feel very welcome. If you're ever in Newquay - go for it.

The only thing she could eat here was chips. I had the mixed fish linguini, my partner had some chips and my daughter had the children's tomato linguini. The Fish was very special; freshly cooked prawns and lovely mussels. The linguini in both dishes was cooked to perfection. Service was quick and polite. The chips were amazing which was brilliant for my partner as all holiday she has seen everyone around her eat lovely food while all she could eat was the most basic things. The restaurant still has an old charm to it, it hasn't been polished into a chic modern restaurant, and I love it more for this.

So we booked a table and decided to give it a whirl on a Monday night. The tasting menu was five courses for £25 (£45 with wine pairings). The other half was a bit dubious about the prices, and thought it just couldn't be good given the prices on the menu. Well, we get in and decide to start with a Bellini (which turned out to be strawberry and VERY tasty). We got the tasting menu with wine pairings. The first course was sweet and sour pig cheeks with udon noodles. It was absolutely brilliant. Everything was tasty, and we were pleasantly surprised. The next course was a mackerel fillet with a smoked mackerel potato cake. The third course was a hake fillet with crab bisque and a crab and ginger wonton. Amazing. Absolutely amazing. The fish was cooked well, the bisque was rich and creamy, and the wonton was crispy and delicious. The fourth course was chicken wrapped in spinach and parma ham with sweet potato tagliatelle and chorizo. I expected this course to be dry and overcooked (because it's so easy to do that with chicken), but instead it was perfectly cooked and everything was magnificent. One of the better chicken dishes I've had in awhile. Finally we had a deconstructed cheesecake with strawberries and strawberry sorbet. Very good! The wine was also good, but the pairings didn't necessarily make sense (but for £45 for the tasting and wine pairings, I'm not really complaining that much). We decided to end the evening by ordering cheese and port. The cheeses were great. We were honestly shocked and surprised at how amazing the meal turned out. The other half even commented to the waitress that the food was great, and that he was surprised that the tasting menu wasn't more expensive. When we're back in the area, I'm sure we'll go back in. There were things on the menu that looked amazing that we didn't get to try because they weren't on the tasting menu. I can't recommend this place enough. If you're in Falmouth, you should definitely go here.

I ordered the stake filet (£24) pretty pricy, and an okay stake, I got very little chips. When I asked for ketchup the waiter gave me the ketchup cup she gave another person from my party and gave me a spoon and says to get some before she gave it back to him. I also witnessed for the first time a waiter drink the leftovers of the wine glass she got from another table. All in all it felt like a regular restaurant trying too hard to be an expensive one. It want bad, but too pricy thus only three stars.

The set menu allows the diner to experience an array of flavors and textures, and the small plate portions make it possible to fully enjoy each course. The cozy, bright interior provides an intimate setting perfect for couples. A stone's throw from the Port provides a beautiful view that enhances the whole experience. Each course was artistically presented and introduced me to flavor combinations I'd never imagined. I was truly moved by the craftsmanship and attention to detail in every dish. The restaurant is tiny and boasts what is possibly the smallest and most ingenious bathroom in the world! The menu changes daily and is full of Nathan's signature touches. Portions are small and designed to be shared like Tapas. Pick five or six between two of you and you get a great variety of top quality fish dishes. Be aware that it's quite a walk from any real parking, as it's tucked away down in the bottom of the village, right against the harbour and flanked on three sides by pubs and looks down the harbour slipway. Also, talk people should wear a helmet due to an extremely low ceiling with exposed beams. The food, though, is awesome!!! :) Definitely Michelin quality.
