What can I say? It's a shop with probably everything you'll ever need to fix your car or bike. Plenty of parking. Helpful staff.

I needed to repair a part on my granddaughter's telescope and received excellent advice. In fact, if they'd had the right sized thingy kicking around in their box of bits they would have repaired it for me! I came out with exactly what I needed, and the telescope is repaired. While they were removing it, they broke some lugs that are needed to attach it to the car, so the bumper they were going to give me was useless. I refused to buy the part, but they tried to make me pay the labour charge, which I also refused. As soon as they could see that I wasn't going to be a walkover, they shouted at me to leave. Also, they probably knew full well that they had broken the lugs, because they would have heard them snap, but they just carried on as if nothing had happened, and got defensive when I started inspecting it properly. Extremely dishonest.

I obviously asked if he was shouting at me, he told me he was and that I couldn't just walk into the yard... I asked why and where it said I couldn't! He didn't reply! I left because quick frankly, rude, obnoxious and more than unhelpful. I can't believe that anyone thinks it's okay to speak to potential customers in this manner, a simple "excuse me sir" would have been fine. If you don't want people to walk on to your sight, put up a sign and close the gates! How on earth you do any business this way is beyond me!! I will be telling everyone I know about the way you've acted today! I called shortly afterwards to see if you had the part that I needed... You do... I will go elsewhere to purchase the part!!

Matt secured a used replacement pump which, when it arrived, was faulty. He returned it and had it completely rebuilt. Once the rebuild came back I asked Matt to also replace a worn trailing arm bush and carry out an MOT whilst he had the car. All were completed in a quick and efficient manner and at just over a third of what a new brake pump alone would have cost. My daughter and grand-daughter both have oldish cars and I am definitely going to ensure they go to The Car Clinic when any repairs/servicing need doing. In the time I've known Matt I've had the feeling that he runs a fair, efficient and honest establishment, quite rare these days in my opinion. Long may you prosper Matt, Norman

I received the items well packaged up and all-in-all very pleased with the service I've received. There were a couple of parts I needed for my Honda Hornet, which they were able to get for me, despite not being displayed on the site. So worth asking them if you need anything else as well.

I like tiny, cluttered shops with befuddled assistants and ancient relics of bike parts. Still, it has to be said, Halfords is pretty useful and has most things you could need. The staff here are more knowledgeable than other branches I've been in, although some know more about bikes and others more about cars. As I know very little about either, I feel they're very helpful without being patronising. They have bikes which are fine for cycling round town, although the suspension and disc brakes are a bit OTT for Oxford, and are rather rubbish. They do oil, tyres, puncture repair kits and all the tools you might need to go with them. They also stock loads of car things: I got everything I needed for driving in Europe here - first aid kit, headlamp deflectors, fluorescent jackets, etc. The own brand stuff is usually cheap, but for things where quality matters, I'd go for better quality, higher priced things. I've heard bad things about their pumps breaking, especially the electric ones. In conclusion: useful but not necessary. The Tesco of the mechanical world.
