Medical appointment in Honolulu, Hawaii... Located on the corner of Beretania Street and Ke'eaumoku Street, Hale Pawa'a is a relatively new facility. Enter the parking garage from Beretania Street (where patients may be dropped off) and exit to Young Street. The first hour of parking is free - no validation needed. The next half hours are $1 each, up to a maximum of $30. Service is very friendly! The Aunty working in the parking booth helped me get a photo of the parking rates. She also showed me the direct entrance to the building! The young man letting people out from the parking structure has a bright smile and cheerful disposition! The lobby on the ground level is like a high-end resort! The concierge desk is to the left and the directory is on the right. In the corner closest to the entrance on the left is a cafe with dining-in options. This clean and elegant environment makes medical appointments less ominous!

Built in 2009, Hale Pawa'a (HP) is a nine-story building that houses a variety of medical offices. I've been here a handful of times, mostly for my annual physicals and my lone colonoscopy procedure from last year. Although it has been over 10 years since built, this facility is well-kept and very convenient as there are 2 entrances to this building: S Beretania and Young St. You no longer need validation and your first hour is free here. I drive a small car and find the parking stalls here wider than some other places. Upon entry, they have a large directory and I find myself reminding myself my PCP is on the 3rd floor. In my defense, I pretty much come here annually and cannot remember the suite number. There's also Juicy Brew in the lobby area so you can pick up coffee or a quick healthy snack, as they are known for their plant-based options. The only setback I've found is that there's only 1 line to enter and exit the building and sometimes I find myself waiting in a line about 5 cars deep. This can be nerve-wracking if you're pressed for time but fortunately, my appointments have been quick, so I don't have to pay for parking. Overall, HP is a great addition to Oahu's medical scene and a great alternative to many medical offices that are in the Queen's Physicians Office Buildings I, II, and III. 2022 #80

Have you seen this beautiful building on the corner of Keeaumoku and Beretania!? A great feature is it's super easily accessible from two locations...if you need to a drop off coming from Beretania is suggested as there's a drive way just for that purpose with a bench right out front for convenience and you're still able to drive straight up to parking or if you're avoiding the busy main road in the back on Young St there's also another entrance to the parking garage though there isn't any place to do a drop off. Parking for the first hour is free no validation is needed which is great though this building is filled with many great offices that it can get insanely busy and parking can be a challenge, each additional 30 minutes is $1 with a daily max of $30 so I'd make sure to ask if they validate as it can add up. In the lobby is so nice and clean which do provide a few seating if waiting in certain offices aren't an option though it can get crowded, there's also Juicy cafe at your convenience. Thank you!

This beautiful office/medical building is on the corner of Beretania and Keeaumoku St. There's a parking structure here and you can enter from both Beretania St and Young St. There's also a 5 minute patient drop off/pick up on front where there's room for at least 4 cars or 2 cars and a handivan. When entering the building, you don't feel like you're in a medical building. On the ground floor, there's a Long's pharmacy, a receptionist area and a small cafe. My husband had to go in for orthopedic surgery on his shoulder. If you need a surgeon, make sure your doctor recommends Dr. Darryl Kan at MIS on the 6th floor. Oh forgot...don't forget to get your ticket validated!

Need to do a medical procedure? If you're lucky enough, hopefully your doc does some work at this beautiful facility called Hale Pawa'a. This beautiful facility is located on the corner of Keeaumoku Street & Beretania Street. You can enter the medical facility either from Beretania Street, or from Young Street, as the facility has entrances on both sides of the streets. A very clean & modern facility........it's nice to know if you have to do a procedure, that you're getting the newest, & latest medical equipment. Inside the Hale Pawa'a facility also has a Longs Drugs pharmacy on the bottom floor, and I also saw a café near the entrance area of the facility. Lots of parking available, as there is a large parking garage. The 1st hour of parking is free with a validation, so don't forget to get your parking ticket validated!

This medical building is conveniently located at the intersection of Beretania St & Keeaumoku St, directly across from the 76 gas station. I come here for lab tests and to visit my primary care physician. The offices here are large, bright and clean. Hawaii Pacific Health group has some of the best doctors and I enjoy coming to this location mostly because it is walkable. There's a Juicy Brew location in the lobby which is pretty dope given the commitment to health and wellness that the groups in the building provide. There's plenty of parking for cars, bikes and mopeds in the back off Young St. I wish there were bike racks on the Beretania side of the building as that would be a plus. If you're in town and your doctor has an office here, definitely make an appointment for this location. Only drawbacks are that the lobby can get a little loud and crowded from time to time & certain office hours may be sporadic. But overall all one of the best medical buildings in town.

Brand new office/medical building on the corner of S Beretania and Keeaumoku. Entrances to the parking lot are on Beretania and Young Street. The lot is easy to navigate and the spaces are wide. Since the building is not completely occupied it's easy to find a space. There is a Clinical Lab in there, as well as a Pharmacy, so if you need bloodwork done or a prescription filled, this is a good place to check out. It's very clean and not crowded. Remember to get your ticket validated!

Although I'm not a "fan" of attending to medical appointments and having worked in a medical facility for many years...I'm always impressed when modernization comes through. We, patients and medical staff, get to "enjoy" new equipment, facilities and neighborhood. The newness/freshness adds to our confidence and experience. Hale Pawaa houses several outpatient clinics, laboratory and a pharmacy. It's a beautiful "one-stop shop". Parking is plentiful and the stalls are standard sized...no squeezing, here. But, since you have to take a ticket to park, don't forget to get it validated. Everyone is nice and friendly, yet professional.

There is lot attendant who has been there for many years and pretty much knows where the empty parking stalls are and will direct you to the nearest one. The parking lot can get crowded so he might have you wait to drive in. Before you get to the elevators to go up, you will have to have your temperature checked and they limit 2 people in the elevator at a time. Since it is a clinic, don't be surprised if you have to wait awhile to get in. They are pretty much a mini hospital as they can do all the regular tests such as blood, urine, take x-rays, ultra sounds all in the same building. Pro Tip: make sure you go early just in case the parking lot is full and you have to wait. Remember, in most cases, it's ok for you to wait but not your doctor.

They even have a little snack section next to the pharmacy on the 3rd floor. I take the bus to the clinic. Therefore, parking isn't a problem for me. If you don't mind the walk, I suggest parking in Market City Shopping Center or down the road in Safeway's parking area, if you can't find a stall. They have a little area to park mopeds and motorcycles near the parking entrance. If you're taking the cab/taxi, or just waiting for your ride, there's a few benches outside to rest your feet. Since it's a clinic, expect it to be busy. They do X-rays, blood tests, urine tests, dialysis, and ultra sounds in the same building. They also have eye doctors. I think they have kids doctors as well. They have other specialists that I'm not familiar with too. It does take a while to get a room but it's worth the wait. I personally see Dr. Chen. He is very informative and knowledgeable. Also, he has a sense of humor so that helps out a lot. I always leave the clinic with a smile on my face. They updated their phone system so now there's a menu to listen to when you call. You might get put on hold for a minute or two, but they're more than happy to assist you. The staff really does try their best to serve every patient in a timely matter. Appointments aren't necessary but it's highly recommended. If you're scheduling an appointment for the same day, call as soon as possible (8:00AM.) This clinic has everything I need in one building. *Yikes I guess one of the older receptionists wasn't in a good mood today. She didn't seem approachable like a receptionist should. Dropped from 5 stars to 4.

Free From Chronic Pain by Suzanna Williams…read more I recently had spine fusion surgery at Kuakini Hospital on August 21,25. The surgery was a complete success without any complications. I believe, wholeheartedly, that my success is due to everyone who played a part of my experience at Kuakini Hospital. You changed my life! Thank you! 1. Dr. Awaya, Orthopedic Surgeon 2. Pre-check in by phone and in person (staff and nurses) 3. Surgery day preparations (staff and nurses) 4. Surgical nurses and assistants that supported Dr.Awaya's efforts and plan for a successful surgery 5. Nurses (post surgery) 6. Physical Therapist (post surgery) 7. Occupational Therapist (post surgery) 8. Social Worker (post surgery) 9. Cafeteria personnel My story is nothing new when I share I had been battling chronic back pain for years. The journey had been a very long and winding road trying this and that to relieve my chronic pain. There were some things that worked along the way but unfortunately my chronic pain persisted that enviably lead me to surgery. I went to my first consultation with Dr.Awaya. This was the day I would get answers to what was causing my pain. First impressions always speaks volumes to me. He entered the room with confidence. He introduced himself and asked me how I was doing. I had my list of concerns ready and I am a very long winded person...I can talk forever and he took the time to listen without any interruptions. He then led into showing me what was causing my chronic pain at L4 and L5. He did this on the computer using my MRI image that had been taken at a recent visit to the emergency room back in March of this year. He went over my condition giving it a name called Spondylolisthesis and explained to me how spinal fusion surgery can correct this condition. He spoke with confidence with no fluff and did not mince his words. He got right to the point. I appreciated that. We met once more before the surgery where he then gave me his expectations of the surgery: 1. Approximately how long the surgery could take (3-4 hours) 2. Explained the possibility of infection 3. Explained the surgery procedure 4. My length of stay in the hospital (2 days) 5. Recovery at rehabilitation center (2 weeks) 6. Follow-up visit with him in (2 weeks) Everything went according to plan. I had surgery on July 21, 2025 and discharged to recovery on July 23, 2025 without any complications due to the wonderful people working at Kuakini Hospital. The level of care provided to me by the nurses, therapists, staff, and others assigned to my care were instrumental to my surgery success and healing process. 1. Everyone always explained what they were doing and why it was necessary 2. Everyone worked as a unified team member 3. Nurses introduced themselves switching shifts 4. Updated my board accordingly 5. Administered prescribed medications accordingly 6. Monitored my care per doctor's order precisely 7. Always asked about my well-being 8. The physical and occupational therapists were instrumental to my long-term success 9. Kudos to the cafeteria staff in preparing my food. It was the best tasting hospital food I had ever had. I never went hungry! Everyone did exactly what they were assigned to do. The environment was conducive to a successful post-surgery outcome. God bless all of you! Post surgery update. Three weeks after surgery: 1. Discharged from recovery on August 4, 2025 returned home 2. I can walk for 30 minutes around my neighborhood. I have done it three days straight now without any problems 3. I can go to church for 2 hours 4. I can bend my leg to put on my own socks and shoes 5. I am totally free from chronic pain- Praise the Lord! Excellent teamwork! I knew I was in good hands, God's hands, when I was wheeled into the operating room and the music was playing and everyone was pumped up and ready to go.... Mahalo to all!

The doctors, nurses, CNA's and other staff helped make my birth experience go as smoothly as possible. They were all professional, compassionate, and gave me 5-star worthy care. My favorite part was our celebratory meal we got to enjoy on the second night of our stay. I was fortunate enough to be on my way home after only 2 nights. The reason for deducting 1 star is because my discharge experience could've gone better. We went from 2 blissful days of feeling taken care of and pampered, to feeling like we were being rushed to move out. An older Asian lady (not sure what her role is at Kapiolani but I know she definitely wasn't a nurse) came into our room and started basically telling us it's time to get ready to go. She asked my husband where our car seat was. We explained to her, per the instructions from our RN that was last taking care of us, we were waiting for the pharmacy to call to let us know my prescription was ready, then my husband will grab the car seat on the way to the pharmacy. Then we would have someone from their staff ensure that we buckled baby in correctly, and then proceed with discharge. This lady started yapping and bossing my husband around, telling him to bring the car around up front and we'll all walk out together. She then proceeded to call the pharmacy to basically tell them to hurry up and fill my prescription. Her presence caused me unnecessary stress. We felt like we were being hurried to clear out the room. On top of that, I was not offered a wheelchair to our car. I had to walk, 2 days postpartum, freshly stitched up and sore, to our car parked in front at guest drop off. Despite this experience I'm not letting it overshadow my overall experience at Kapiolani. The nurses were so sweet and supportive and made me feel like a rock star first time mom after I gave birth to my daughter in just 11 hours. I left feedback for kapiolani and I do hope they take steps to improve their discharge process for future patients.
