Previously she was with the Broad Street Barber Shop, where I had her trimming my hair and beard. If I travel from my office at West Ashley over to Mt. Pleasant, she must be a good barber/stylist for my beard and balding head, right? Correct you are! Lisa is quite talented and a joy to talk to (especially with her brand new grand baby) and always introduces you to another client, even when they are sticking their heads in the door to schedule an appointment (yes, required). Since the change in Ownership the "business environment" has become dirty; unkept; and lacks a presentation of pride. There are stains on the floor; built up hair layers on nearly every horizontal surface; full trash cans from the prior day; baskets of dirty towels; newspapers covering the benches - simply read and discarded; and barber chairs with grime covering the base. The appearance shows a change of leadership and lack of standards. Children "toys" in a stained plastic basket coated with cut hair is a visual signal - "We do not care." A business would better off not having the basket. A community barber is more than a $ 25 haircut. It should still be a gathering place; a source of pleasant conversation; and smiles. Memorabilia; when on display must be free of dust; dirt; and weeks of fallen cut hair. Those military personnel that contributed their meaningful caps; patches; and other uniform items may be surprised how they look "Under New Management." The cleanest item in the shop are the barber combs in the jars of disinfectant. Let's reestablish the workplace standards.

I've been here twice and have been pleased with my haircut each time. Tye was my barber both times and he does a great job. I saw the work of the other guys and their work looks good too. As most shops go, an appointment is the best way to go but they do a great job with getting walk-ins in-and-out. Word of advice, ask one of them how many are in front of you before you sit down so you can get a realistic expectation of your wait time. For my first visit, which was a walk-in and while the shop was packed, I waited about 30 minutes! Check them out if you need a cut and yes, they cut all hair types!
