Very nice area in Alpharetta that is very family friendly and well kept. Plenty of places to sit and lounge and enjoy a bite to eat. The food hall has plenty of options but we brought our food from BB's Bagels and enjoyed a nice meal in the common area. Great selection of restaurants and bars however. My wife and I enjoyed a drink at Butcher and Brew which was nice and my sons enjoyed a soda at the Original Hotdog Factory. The atmosphere is very upscale and comfortable and very attractive. Plenty of things to do and very kind, friendly service throughout with plenty of activities to keep children engaged and entertained. Additionally, there is a wonderful trail close by which is perfect if you have a dog and want to have a nice stroll with your family. I have not been here in a while!! What a great spot... when we pulled up they had a DJ in the center area playing music kids were playing and they had the fire pits going. Well decorated for the holidays this location is an upscale spot for food and shopping. Not as big as the Avalon area but very nice all the same. Looking around I could not figure out why I have not been here more. It is less than 10 mins from me and it has some great eatery selections! One other nice thing... there were 5 cops patrolling the area... just there in the middle area and watching to be sure everyone was alright. Not rent-a-cops but real full blow police. It's not a traditional mall. This is an outdoor shopping/entertainment plaza much like the Avalon but not as big or extensive. This is where you come to avoid the Avalon but you miss out on the shops that the Avalon has. There isn't much that this place offers in terms of good entertainment. The shops seem to be mom and pop niche offerings from baby clothes to odd trinkets but priced for Forsyth/Alpharetta prices. There are also a slew of various high end offices for well known interior designers to the Mercedes Benz Experience and the Halcyon also is home to the Forum Athletic club, a high end gym that is rivaling Lifetime Fitness. For entertainment, it's pretty much a movie theater and some various bars. The food hall is worth experiencing since they have a wide selection from Gu's Dumplings to The Original Hot Dog Factory. Halcyon is also home to one of my favorite spots, Iron Age, a Korean BBQ joint that gives you all the steaks you want to consume. A great place to come to after you just got down with a workout at the Forum. All in all, it's not a bad place to chill out but that's about all you'll be doing. Catch a movie and then grab some all you can eat Korean BBQ and then one of their bars that they offer. It's really just a casual meet up spot to enjoy drinks and a decent sunset. read more

In the cool evening, it is especially fun with the lights, music and people milling around. There is a green space that has lots of seating for groups, families and friends. An open space for children to play and make new friends. Lots of games for families to play and children run around outside! Definitely family friendly! Parking is easy as there is a large free parking deck, parallel spaces and some valet areas. For what it is, it's pretty nice. A mix of social hang out/shopping with some good food options. All the shops we visited were friendly, with an overall okay variety of boutiques to choose from. Boutiques are known for being expensive, but having a few other options to shop would be nice. Lots of space for kids to run around and play. A sand pit, soccer pool and other game options to entertain young ones while you grab a bite or drink and sit out on the lawn seating. Currently there is road work right outside of Halcyon which is a little inconvenient but for the best as it will allow a better flow of traffic on busier days and open up to expansion in the future. I visit the Halcyon almost weekly, whether it's to go to Pilates or workout at The Forum, meet up with friends and dine out and enjoy the green space, or take my dog for a walk around and then across the street on the Greenway. This place has so many options for everyone between dining, shopping, and just enjoying the open green space. Very family friendly as well as dog friendly. The food hall is another favorite spot which offers a variety of cuisine that's fast casual and always delicious! They host tons of seasonal events, and there's often live music on the green space during the weekends. Some of my favorite places to pop in and enjoy are Playa Bowls, Cherry Street Brewery, HobKnob, Butcher & Brew, CT Taqueria, and Eclipse di Luna. You truly can't go wrong at any of the restaurants, and if you're looking for something a bit more up-scale, Cattle Shed Wine & Steak Bar and Ocean & Acre are a must visit. There's even a movie theater on site, CMX, that offers a full menu so you can have a meal and drink while enjoying the film. I am excited to see what's going to be added over the next year, and still hoping for a Trader Joe's to be built as a part of the new construction! read more

The idea is nice but this is the second time I've come here with my family, spent over $120 and my seat is filthy. Couldn't even put my drink in the cup holder. Obviously wasn't cleaned between shows. So gross. And I know this is a mistake but when our drinks were brought to us the girl spilled a soda all over my husband. I realize it's an accident but if you're offering this service you should provide the right carriers for them to deliver drinks in the dark. Won't be back. Halcyon is an Avalon wanna-be a few exits north, just off the 400. Parked in the central, outside parking area. Paid for 0-3 hours using the machine a few steps from the car. Walked back to our vehicle after paying and placed the receipt in the car window per their instructions. Went to lunch at Il Bottegone and come back 30 minutes later to a "Citation" on our windshield saying we didn't pay. C'mon Halcyon rent-cops. Very professional. I had lunch at the Hotdog Factory then went to one of the boutiques and purchased a dress. Very cute place off of exit 12 of 400. It's the sister to Avalon in Alpharetta off exit 10. Came here for lunch at Ocean and Acre and ended up taking pictures in their holiday setup in the middle of the quad area and then after lunch the kids got to play connect 4 and throw fake foam bricks at each other! Space is the quad is great for games, hanging out with friends or family, or just seating and being. The have tons of spots to chain up a bike even have a sandbox (not pictured). We stay for about 20min playing as we had to trek back home on the east side, and didn't take it all in. There is parking around the side of the quad area that costs, valet, and a free parking garage. There is also a Mercedes Benz dealership by Kilwin's. There is still stores and restaurants popping up so some of the area is still under construction. read more

Update: June 29, 2023. Board and Brush is gone. It has been replaced by what appears to be an interior designer (pretty sure that same service is offered at the the wannabe Restoration Hardware-type furniture store, which charges 200% mark up for something that you can comparably find at Target or Tuesday Morning). Very smart move for Halcyon management to lease to a boring interior designer in place of something that gained a lot of attention for groups.... As with a majority of Halcyon management's decisions, they fell way short (or perhaps they don't know what they are really doing is it JLL? If so, it's time for JLL to clean house and change up the management). AND REMEMBER: still NO overnight parking. So, you're gonna need a designated driver to drive your vehicle or you're going to need to drive while intoxicated. Don't you dare think that the "pub crawl", corn hole toss events with discounts, and any other events that encourages consumption of alcohol will provide leeway of Halcyon's no overnight parking policies. Now that there is a hotel open here, there will be more traffic and more enforcement of the overnight parking policies. I continued with the Two Stars because I still enjoy CT, Ocean and Acre, and Never Enough Thyme. Word to the wise: just avoid Halcyon management (i.e., JLL) can figure out how to manage an effective/efficient/profitable commercial marketplace. Price gouging ain't the way. read more

I have anxiously awaited Halcyon Forsyth's opening and could not be happier that it is finally open to the public! Halcyon Forsyth is a brand new mixed-use development in Forsyth County. According to an article in Forsyth County News, this "$370 million development will include 480,000 square feet of office and retail space, a trailhead for the Big Creek Greenway, about 230 homes, 460 apartments, two hotels, a parking deck, a movie theater, office space, a dog park and other retail." The Market Hall houses Gu's Dumplings, Pita Mediterranean Street Food, Tocayo, and Sweet Tuna stalls which are all open for business. Two more stalls will complete the Market Hall soon. Other dining options that have recently opened: CMX Cinébistro/Stone Sports Bar, Butcher & Brew, Cherry Street Brewpub, Ocean & Acre, CT Cantina Taqueria, It's a Sweet Life, Popbar, and Kilwin's which is connected to the Market Hall. Several of the retailers are now open including: Apricot Lane, Canoe, Lizard Thicket, Mercedes-Benz Experience Center by RBM of Alpharetta, RW Design & Exchange, and Totally Running and Walking. What I really love about Halcyon is the selection of locally-owned businesses (already open and opening soon). Everything surrounds the common green, where majority of Halcyon's events will be hosted. Free parking is available in the garage as well as street. I noticed a parking kiosk outside of Market Hall, so they may start charging for street parking in the future. Hopefully not. Halcyon Forsyth has a laid back feel to it with a focus on community. Many are comparing it to Avalon, but I think they're two completely different developments with two completely different vibes. Halcyon is a mixed use development featuring apartments, new townhomes, 55+ active adult condos, central green space, dining hall, shops, CMX movie theater and restaurants. The green space is usually very crowded with young families and kids playing and they often feature live music there on nights and weekends. The restaurants are the main attraction here surrounding the green space. The shops are super cute but not typically busy. The layout is interesting as there are different sections within Halcyon as opposed to a streamlined layout as displayed in Avalon. All in all, a fun place to hangout and get lunch/dinner. read more

Nice find in the Alpharetta area! Fun and interactive indoor outdoor food market, brewery, shops, and hang out space. There is ample uncovered parking available that borders the Halcyon. They have 2 brew pubs with excellent choices of craft brews. It's nice to get to take your drink and have the choice to sit or walk around. You can even purchase certain beverages in cans to take home. The Food Market Hall has multiple options to choose from: Mediterranean, Mexican, Poke, and Pizza. All delicious food choices which you can enjoy in the cool covered indoor hall or take on a tray and sit in the many outdoor seating options. Nice clean bathroom inside as well. The outdoor area in the middle of Halcyon is wonderful. They have a sand pit partitioned off for kids to play in. Halcyon Forsyth is a brand spanking new swanky shopping development that is modeled after the Avalon in Alpharetta. I'm happy this finally came to fruition because the Avalon is always madly packed, and I'm tired of their restaurants. Much like the Avalon, Halcyon is a boutique-ish style center with small specialty shops, restaurants, offices, and homes. Official opening was September 18th, but they must have been desperate to open because there isn't a whole heck of a lot here yet. For those who like beer, they will be happy to see Cherry Street Brewpub, a huge restaurant taking up a ton of real estate. They also have this marketplace area, much like Krog street on a smaller scale with community tables and lots of little restaurants you can order from, and then take to a table and eat. My boyfriend and I wanted to try the tacos, but they had sold out of everything. They said they thought they were prepared, but they had much larger volume than expected, and had to close early. So we tried Sweet Tuna instead, a poke place. There are few tables outside, but because we went kind of late on a Sunday, we were able to snag one. They had live music playing outside, and the complex is pet friendly. I didn't see any future shops that I would be interested in actually buying anything, but there are upcoming restaurants I want to check out. Also, they have a brand new CMX Cinebistro theater which opens this coming weekend. I just wish there were better choices for movies out these days. We haven't seen anything lately we have been itching to see. We walked around a bit after eating, and saw a corn hole area along with large chess pieces to play outside. It had nice architecture and it was such a pretty night for a walk. Also, the Greenway is right down the road so we could really get our walk on if we wanted to. We parked in a multi-level structure and parked with ease. Sure at busier times and further down the road it's going to be a pain finding a spot. After driving by it a couple of times, I decided to stop by with a friend on the weekend to grab dinner. I really like the mixed use of residential and retail options and that it is located right next to the Greenway. Given that Atlanta has PCM and Krog Street, I am happy to see that concept expanded to the suburbs. There are a few breweries, Land of a Thousand Hills, Kilwins and plenty of restaurants. In addition, there are plenty of places to sit on the lawn and a fairly large parking deck for parking. I can't wait to come back and try all of the places located here! read more

Spent a Saturday afternoon people watching here and it was lovely. The parking garage is huge so there is plenty of parking - although we had to go up a few floors. Tons of places to eat - both sit down restaurants and some take away options. A lot of options also available to grab a beer (or coffee) and just sit on the lawn. There are also a few shops, too. There was live music the day we visited and so many people - families with young children and friends alike. It was really lovely seeing so many people outside just enjoying each other's company. We live right up the street and will absolutely visit more. The possibilities are endless. Definitely stop on by! Maybe we will catch you there next time! read more

My only critique is the rule against kids drawing with chalk. A few kids were coloring on the sidewalk, not in front of any restaurant. A cop told them to stop and to return to their parents. Then, a lady with a bucket and broom came by and scrubbed their drawings immediately like it was profanity and not rainbows and smiley faces they were drawing. Seemed a little overkill for a "kid friendly" place. Maybe have a designated place for kids to doodle with chalk if you don't want the sidewalks covered. There should be a middle ground. read more

My rating is kids based********** So many different "attractions" for kids. Let me start by saying, Weds @ 10:30, Halcyon hosts a rain or shine kids club. Today was a dancing session sponsored by a company. Kids were outside. On rainy days, they go inside the Market Hall. It's not year long, so be sure to check the months in effect. There is a great sized sand play area, soft ball soccer played like billiards, connect four giant game using rings, soft building blocks, swings, spinny chairs, area to run, etc etc. Halcyon is up and coming, and it's growing QUICKLY! With a food hall concept, free standing restaurants, residential area, movie theater, and shopping, Halcyon has something for everyone. I would choose it over Avalon because it offers so much more for my kids!! The kids club here is about quality where in my opinion, Avalon is the same ol, throw some balls out and a tent and voila. Meh. Drove up - so excited - center was trendy and adorable looking with outdoor play space and communal food hall dining. Downside- I took one of their many special event offerings - make your own wreath course. A joke. No organization or structure, wreaths fell apart before we left the parking lot. It was an $80 class. I looked at other advertised events here- they all seem to be orchestrated by teenagers who value influencers or the look of event rather than a good experience or value of the event to consumers. Maybe if they start vetting the event offerings to have substance for the price, the execution would improve. It's a good idea to have interactive events, but theirs seem superficial and like it's run by someone obsessed with Instagram pictures rather than customer experience, at a premium price no less. So, pass. Pretty close to the Avalon and I've had more fun there with actual trained teachers and engaging activities. (Outdoor yoga and stuff) read more

LOADING... Halcyon is still in the process of becoming. However, I recently did a "walk-through" to get an idea of what is to come. Halcyon is a missed use community located just off of exit 12 from 400. It is made up of housing, shopping, dining and a green space (for music, games, and other activities). Also on the property, you will find a theater and sports bar within the same building. If you decide that you want to enjoy a meal with your movie, you will need to arrive 30 minutes in advance, place your order and receive your food prior to the start of the movie. I imagine that this process is in place in order to minimize distractions once the movie starts. Currently, there are very few shops open along with the theater and dining hall. We visited the bakery which makes phenomenal cakes but also has individual treats for purchase. If you can imagine it, they can probably create it. We also visited Canoe which carries jewelry and leather accessories. I love this store because the smell of quality leather is intoxicating and I loved their jewelry selection which consists of leather and beaded bracelets and necklaces. They have great pieces for layering or wearing alone. In addition, they also have key fobs, travel bags, purses, wallets, fur rugs and more. There are a couple of clothing stores open but I did not visit them. We did stop by RBM Mercedes to play with the new 2020 GLE SUV which was interesting. It has lots of bells and whistles designed to catch the eye but some of the important practical elements that matter, (rear air control, full positioning of the driver's seat), were missing. What's up with that? ***Never put flash over substance. The Market Hall is centrally located at the heart of Halcyon with restaurants and restrooms. All of the restrooms are unisex and handicap accessible although some have the designated icons and others do not. They do have designated family restrooms as well. There are very few restaurants open at this time, (Sweet Tuna, Tocayo, Gu's Dumplings), but others are opening soon. There is a full service, (chocolate and ice cream) Kilwin's in this hall as well. The single most exciting, (to me) feature of this hall is that it spills out into an outdoor space which has additional seating and a green space for outdoor concerts. I love being able to enjoy music in an outdoor venue so I was elated to see this particular feature. Once you are outside in the courtyard area, you will notice other restaurant options, (Cherry Street Brew Pub, Butcher and Brew, Ocean and Acre). Now for the BAD NEWS: They actually expect you to PAY for parking, (in the process of being installed), unlike Avalon. If I am bringing my dollars to you, the least you can do is provide free parking because your center is just not special enough for me to pay for parking. As soon as you add parking meters to an "upscale" center you automatically diminish the shopping experience. It simply reads as tacky! Don't do it! If you like trendy spaces and trendy over-priced stores, you just might love it here. However, if you appreciate classic well-priced goods, you may want to consider other options. My rating would be more of a 2.5 but since that is not an option, 3 is more appropriate as 2 just seems unfair considering all stores are not currently open and I do appreciate the effort. read more

I am very disappointed with the most recent event that was held (Brewfest Festival). I have always big a big fan of the Halcyon and have come here for fun numerous time. However what took place yesterday was atrocious. It was all setup nicely and had great potential until...the band showed up. They not only looked and acted as though they were on crack or some kind of drugs but at one point one of the band members where shirtless and passed on the public side walk where you saw kids and families walking by. On top of that, it attracts creeps which made for an even worse and disturbing experience. Also, the speakers were so screeching loud that you had to yell just to hear each other talk amongst one another event from a distant outside of the foodcourt. Needless to say. It was all and all the worst experience ever, not just for me but many others. I would think the Halcyon would hold themselves to high standards. If your visiting from out of town or simply looking for a place to have fun and grab a few drinks or come with your family, Go to the AVALON. It's way more classy more and can count on every event being a being great for friends, families and children. read more
