I hired Mark at Stellar Realty to manage my house, as I live overseas, based on a friends reference…read moreand I guess the old adage holds true, **Never mix business with friendship**! I could go on and on about my disappointment with his services, but to keep this review short I will talk about only the most important reason why I fired him, he is unethical. His practices were so unethical that if I lived in the area would, he would have found himself in court. The tenant had a very clear and I would say solid contract, which is why he got 1 star, well that and there is no choice for negative stars, but he suddenly decided to bring the bills for the house, which my tenant apparently had a hard time paying, i.e; Pacific Gas and Electric, Water, etc., into his office and billed me for managing it. He had his handyman fix things but provided no invoices (until I demanded them), only charges to his running bill costs. Needless to say I questioned him and fired him, breaking our 1 year contract, with no rebuttal from him at all. I can only assume by his quiet exit, this is not the first time he has done this, especially with the homeowner being so far away. Be warned, he comes across as a lovely man with genuine care and concern and as a 'tenant', you probably are safe.
ADDENDUM to his response: A review shouldn't deem harassment to my personal email account which he admitted to with his multiple attempts to contact me. These attempts were merely attempts to get me to remove my post. My decision to fire Mark, with the guidance of an attorney, was the result of charging me for managing my tenants utilities which was a direct violation of our contract never mind being a serious conflict of interest given his monetary gain at my expense. He was presented a formal letter stating as such. On top of that, I didn't receive invoices for work performed until I demanded them and even then they were vague at best. But if you need a little taste of his attempts to contact me post review and management style, read on and you decide if this is someone you want managing your property:
"Since your Yelp review about myself and our company last year, I've emailed you twice, now three times, and so far no response." "After some thought, you are either a bitter, selfish person or maybe you just really don't understand standard property management practices. In the hope that it is the latter I want to educate you."
