I have never written a review of complaint in my life, but right now it seems like the only thing I can do...after all no one is going to magic the hair back that I feel has been stolen from my head.
If there are any hairdressers out there reading, please read and listen...
Last week my hair was long, and all at one length. The fringe I'd had previously had grown was to my chin...as you can imagine longhair takes time to grow...
I asked for layers to be cut into my hair, but NO SHORTER THAN ABOUT 2 INCHES BELOW MY CHIN.
My hair was the longest it had ever been, and I was excited at having long hair but with shape...
Chris at Hairworks, without asking, chopped a massive section of hair from the front of my forehead, and proceeded to shape it into what can't even be passed off as a fringe. The isolated section , WHICH GOES ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE MIDDLE OF MY HEAD, is going to now take me months to grow out. Also, when wearing up, I can no longer leave whispy bits to fall down at the sides framing my face, as these whispy bits have now been transformed into uneven chunks thankyou very much.
I'm 30 years old, not 14; I can't afford to look shit for the next 6 months to a year.
I can do nothing with this section of hair, I WANTED A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CUT, paid £36 for it, and cried all the way home.
After an hour I returned to ask if the section could be thinned out...I was told, ok, and that I allowed to change my mind, patronising, AS I DIDN'T ASK FOR THIS CUT IN THE FIRST PLACE, but what could I do, it was there to stay. I was patronised by saying, it made me look younger, when in fact it makes me look ten years older. You also never tell, or imply that a 30 year old women needs to look younger.
Hair is an accessory to yourself, to your wardrobe, and speaks its own language. My wardrobe orientates around a style which suits longs sleek hair, that shyly drapes around the face if required, or that can be teased into flowing curls, nice, with a long float dress...not a masculine, spiky cut, that dates back to the 1990's. I did not ask for Rachel from 'Friends' cut.
My hair is now difficult to style. I explained on arrival...I blow dry and go..I flick from said to side. Now when I flick from side to side, there's just a stiff mountain of hair, which doesn't know what it's doing at the middle top of my head.
The cut would have been great on someone who was older, with thinning hair, as the cut would have created volume, and therefore the illusion of thicker hair.
I don't use hair straightness, now I have to invest in them, and conditioners to flatten the hair. Invest in an item which will inevitably damage my hair in the long run. I can no longer wear the clothes I had bought for the summer, as they don't suit my new look.
I can't believe that a version of the cut I specifically requested not to have was actually done...I am now still spending time and money on hair I hate...I actually hate it now
So please hairdressers think ahead before you cut your next clients hair...
If the client has a mass of hair which is all one length, don't get over excited because it's the most hair you've seen all week, LISTEN TO WHAT THE CLIENT WANTS, BECAUSE THERE IS A REASON FOR THEIR REQUEST, WHAT YOU WANT DOESN'T MATTER, YOUR EGO ISNT IMPORTANT, IT'S THE CLIENTS. read more
