An old-fashioned Barber Shop…read more When I was a child growing up in Brevard, NC, my father and I had a Saturday Ritual. Every Saturday, we would go downtown and get our Hair Cut. Old Fashioned Barber Shop with something like six to eight chairs. Generally, most were occupied, and you waited your turn, and it was more of a social gathering. Back then, it was only 25 cents for a childs haircut. This shop was across the Street from the Courthouse and just up the street from Austins where we had photographs made. Since then, we have moved on to online reservations and pick your stylist and show up and no one pays attention to your allotted time slot. Last night I went onto social media and asked for recommendations in the Denver NC/Cornelius NC Communities. Great response and two shops popped out. Shane's was one and Blended was the other. Called Shane's this morning and it's a true Old School Barbershop. Only two chairs, cash only and cuts were $10 for a child, $20 for an adult and $16 for a Senior. Walk in only with no appointments but it moves quickly. I think my Barber was named Henry and he did an excellent job and it looks the best it has in some time. I highly recommend this shop and I will be back.

Tried Sports Clips in Denver which was pretty good at first, but the reservations system went way downhill very quickly. Their reservations system does not compensate for walk in or if the patron brings a guest which throws everything off. Tried Great Clips and their computer system was not even working. Moved on to Roosters in Cornelius in their new location next to Publix until the stylist I requested overbooked and I ended up waiting over an hour beyond my scheduled time and still had not gotten my hair cut at which time I left. Tried The Kilted Buffalo in Birkdale and the young lady who cut my hair was the only person working so she ended up cutting, being the bartender and answering the phone. Not a smooth flow of getting one's hair cut. Back to Sports Clips in Denver and while it went pretty smooth at first, back to the same issues with reservations. My wife and I went to the Buffet at Butcher Boy's in Denver/Sherrills Ford this morning and she commented on the Perfect Gentleman and asked if I had ever tired it. Of course the answer was no. After sitting in Sports Clips well beyond my scheduled appointment, I told them to take my name off of the board. I had been listed as #1 for the entire time I was there. Went home and I started looking for alternative places for a haircut. That is when my wife suggested the Perfect Gentleman. Went on their website to check them out and they had everything I needed except "do they take credit cards" (They do). Called and found out the hours listed were incorrect but the owner said she would update. They are closed tomorrow which is Sunday but Tina Marie asked if I could come this afternoon. I've found a new home. They are fantastic. Walk in the door and there is a nice comfortable waiting area to the left. On the right is a line of barber chairs. Big difference from when this was an Ice Cream Shop. My hair was cut by Tina Marie who is also the Owner of Perfect. I have thin fine hair so hard to work with. It looks the best in has looked in years and with the layering, looks fuller and more robust. I was so impressed, I went ahead and booked my next appointment in 5 weeks. Highly recommend.
