I tried giving them extra chances but every time I book, they always want to reschedule. After this last time and even booking a week or so in advance, they cancel and want to reschedule. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. VERY UNSANITARY. Recently went to get haircut. The individual ahead of me was getting a haircut and shave. Barber did the haircut and massaged his head face around his nose and mouth. After the barber finished she tapped the seat asking me to come up. She did not sanitize her hands, the seat nor any of the barber tools but went directly to giving me a haircut. Will not go back. I believe the Covid 19 guidelines requires all instruments, chairs, hands to be sanitized between customers. read more

Needless to say I showed up Sunday having missed an appointment and not knowing what to do. Great shop with a cool (but super clean) garage theme. The dustpan is made of a license plate. A restored vintage gas pump greets you at the door. License plates on the walls and local color in the store. I love a barber between two hardware stores! The only thing lacking was a rockabilly soundtrack. I have been in Tucson for about a year and haven't found a hairstylist I liked until now. Chloe did an amazing job with my short asymmetrical cut. She took her time and adjusted the style a bit from the example pics I brought with me, so that it would fit my face better. I have received many compliments about my haircut. One of the issues I hate about traveling full time Is finding a barber in a new city. There are cheap haircuts on every corner it seems - super this or great that - all willing to put shears or scissors to your head for a few dollars. I have fallen for the lure of a $7 haircut, and I came out looking like I spent the night in a jail cell with Nick Nolte after a night of drunken debauchery. So when it's time to cut the few hairs left on my fat little head, I really try to scour out the best local shop I can find. Yesterday I had enough of the unruly mop only head and decided to get my ears lowered. After putting the power of Google to the test and asking a few locals I know, one name came up a few times - Hair Garage. Now, this is not a high end, hoity toity salon, where the air is overpowered by the scent of some Dior knockoff or where you'll have your scalp massaged with lilac and coral infused shampoo. There are no shelves choked full of overpriced gels and Beauty by Tova products from QVC. This is an honest to God barber shop whose sole purpose is to give you a good cut and make you look good, or as good as as haircut can - they're not magicians after all. I opted to just stop in yesterday since I had some free time and after a five-ish minute wait, was sitting in a chair with Jeff Kuhl. I've been coming here with my fiancé since 2011 and have never left feeling disappointed or unwelcome. Lisa and Jeff are an awesome duo and are extremely knowledgeable about their profession. I usually hate stylists that try to pry into your life or constantly ask questions to make small talk but Lisa and Jeff are so friendly, honest, and funny that I end up spilling what's been happening my life since my last visit without them even asking lol. The Hair Garage's décor is really cool with license plates and custom art hanging on the walls and even though the actual room is somewhat small it still manages to feel cozy. Lisa and Jeff are the main stylists and while they've had other cosmetologists come (Chloe) and go (Laura) the quality has stayed the same since I've been there. Their prices are really reasonable too and their website is very easy to understand which is a plus if you want to book an appointment. Do it early though since slots fill up fast! I have never gotten anything crazy done to my hair besides a cut and color with Lisa but I leave happy every time because I know that I'll end up with a haircut I feel confident about. A barber shop isn't always the first thing that you think of when you move away but I know when I eventually leave Tucson this is one place I will really miss. Laura, my normal stylist, wasn't working, but Jennifer had some free time in her schedule. I was happy because they are pretty busy. So, for the last year I've been visiting barbers for the upkeep. I ended up here because of my last experience (terrible) elsewhere. The most important thing to me is that I come away with a good cut-everything else is just a bonus. That being said: The environment is friendly and relaxed; it made me feel at ease right away. Came in to get my ends cleaned up, FIVE TO SIX inches of my hair was hacked off when I specified no more than two. This place is a girls ultimate nightmare if you want to somewhat keep your length. I tried to be reasonable and give it a few days to get used to it, however NOBODY should ever feel this way after getting their hair done. Went in for haircut on Saturday morning. I booked an appointment on their website. I got in there a little early and there was no wait which was awesome. I showed the woman a picture of the hairstyle I wanted. She was fairly knowledgeable about how we should go about getting it cut and styled. It wasn't the shortest or fastest haircut but it looks awesome. I cannot remember their names off the top of my head but the gentleman that was working as well helped her out as well. He came over and helped trim up some spots also used a straight edge for the back of my neck which is my most sought out request because I hate when the hair on the back of my neck grows out of control and hair salons aren't able to shave it gone or almost all the way gone. I was so impressed that had my wife take our son to get his haircut there on Sunday morning. His haircut was about 20 minutes not his first haircut but definitely looks good. Their goal is to try to get kids in and out in 10 minutes so they do a good job of cutting kids hair to a cool style in a short amount of time. They also gave him some pretty cool temporary tattoos that he won't stop asking to put on now. Will definitely come back. read more

I tried hair garage for my last haircut and got a pretty good one. I told him all the things I hated about previous cuts and he assured me he would make it look good. It did, so I decided to come back. I reminded him of the previous cut and said I wanted the same thing and what not to do. He did everything I said not to do and my hair looks like crap. To the point it almost just needs to be shaved. I told him my displeasure and he tried to "fix it" and made it worse. I was getting this cut because I have professional photos being taken of my team that will be used for business cards and other marketing materials. I didn't complain to try and get something free and paid even when he said I didn't have to. What's irks me even more is when we were leaving he tells my 9 year old son sorry for making his dad mad.
