My stylist was an incredible listener. She took the time to understand what I wanted, made thoughtful recommendations, and genuinely helped motivate and uplift me when I really needed it. I started doing some research. Who is Paul? Is he still at the Wynn? No. Where is he? Found him. I called Paul Juma and made an appt for the following month when I was returning to Vegas. BEST. DECISION. EVER. On my first visit, I went in with an idea of what I wanted, but we talked about it and decided to use my base color to brighten and low light/highlight to a really pretty natural color and he chopped off all my ragged, uneven ends, leaving me with lightweight hair, that styled easily into my standard do or into new styles. I LOVED IT! Plus, it was a really enjoyable experience. I'm not really that social, but I enjoyed chatting with Paul during my visit and we talked about food, and wine and travel... all of my favorite topics! The price was right and it was a fantastic experience overall. I know it seems weird to go out of state to get your hair done, but apparently, this is pretty usual for Paul and his clientele, so I'm now on the client list and I see Paul every other month. On the one hand, its kinda crazy to fly or drive to Las Vegas every other month for a hair-do, but besides it giving me an excuse to get my Vegas on every other month, Paul is amazing. He's taught me how to dry my hair better, how to clean my brushes, how to keep curls with my round brush and the cold button on my hair dryer, introduced me to Olaplex and overall, my hair is healthier, more styleable, and overall awesome. During our visits, we talk about travel and music and sometimes we watch tv shows or movies or concerts! He shares fruit from his backyard trees with me. I mean, he's my hair stylist and he's the best I've ever used, but he's also interesting and entertaining and engaging. I've recommended two other friends to him who have seen him as well, and I will recommend him to ANYONE who is looking for the absolute BEST colorist/stylist. NO CHECKERBOARDS!!!!! Over time, there were several interactions with my stylist, Jamie, that left me feeling judged and uncomfortable. Nothing overtly hostile, just enough subtle remarks and reactions to make me question whether I was actually welcome or simply a very profitable appointment. What ultimately solidified that feeling was an accidental pocket dial after my last visit. I answered the call and could hear people from the salon speaking negatively about me, apparently unaware that I was listening. It was an incredibly unpleasant thing to hear, particularly after being a loyal, high-paying client. I understand that not every client and stylist will click personally, and I certainly don't expect anyone to be my best friend. But I do expect discretion, maturity, and professionalism, especially from a business charging luxury prices. Beautiful hair is one thing. Their location is in the Gramercy on the side of the building closer to Starbucks. I also love that they offer to make you a drink during your service, which I totally would have tried had I not just gotten a coffee before coming. To my delight there was a pink felt board welcoming me for my appointment! My stylist was Jenna and she is awesome! Before my haircut, she looked over my hair and asked what I was wanting (keep my length and just refresh my layers and bangs) Then she took me over to wash my hair and such a treat they do a head a massage with essential oils and top it off with a hot towel...so relaxing and such a nice personalized touch. We had nice conversation, and she took her time with my cut and gave me a great blowout. Another cute moment that stood out to me was while I was getting my blowout the sweet woman working the front desk (I forgot her name) came by with a basket of treats offering one to each of us if we wanted a snack.
