I scheduled an appointment with Master Designer Regeanna for 9:45am the day before my visit and was told she had the entire morning open. I booked the time specifically for a haircut and a few face-framing foils. When I arrived at 9:30am, I was told, "I tried calling... I need to bump you back to noon. I can't get you done this morning because of a booking issue in the system, and this other customer has long hair--and so do you." It became clear that she had taken another walk-in customer despite my scheduled appointment. I had chosen that time carefully because of other commitments, and being asked to wait over two hours was unacceptable. This was completely unprofessional and very poor customer service. If I could give no stars I would. The service was for my daughter and I have come to Hair Cuttery several times, each time hoping the service, communication and marketing would improve but sadly it has not and I don't believe that it ever will. I booked a classic blowout based on what I felt was my daughters hair type (pricing starting at $39) and was told at checkout, not after I checked in, or before rendering services, that I was being charged for a deluxe blowout to the tune of $120. Now mind you I came in expecting to be in and out in an hour maybe 1.25 and pay perhaps maybe $50-$53 in charges as has been in the past for my daughter but $120 which includes an additional charge for long hair?? Nothing on Hair Cuttery's website description states that I would need to pay for the length of the hair but I've constantly been charged for it and have had to dispute it. Excellent service dictates that you inform a customer of charges especially if the charges are hidden or not explicitly disclosed. I also found myself constantly educating the stylist on how to properly comb hair, especially African American hair, and really hair in general, only to be told that she is an expert with years of practical and teaching experience. That statement was not backed up by the service I observed. A service that should only take 45 min to an hour was over 2 hours for my daughter which is unacceptable for an experienced stylist. My daughter's hair was not the straight smooth end result I was promised and I was not pleased. I would not recommend any person of color to Hair Cuttery and I will not ever patronize this company until their practices, marketing, communication and services descriptions are revised and refined to denote clarity and accuracy. Just a word of advice-- a consultation with the customer should take place to inform the customer prior to continuing with providing the service if a change in price is warranted or anticipated. I would appreciate someone in executive management would contact me. read more

I just wanted a trim, blow dry and curls. I told her my hair doesn't keep a curl and she still didn't put much product in. Within 5 minutes of leaving I had no curls and I had to go home and recurl my hair before my event with some product it stayed all night. I have been a loyal customer for over 4 years so it saddens me to write this review. I was scheduled for a 2:45pm appointment for full-highlights and cut. While driving to Hair Cuttery, 10 minutes before my appointment, I receive a text that I would not be serviced today. Not a call, a text. I call the salon and am told that my stylist scheduled was a no-show for COVID reasons. Which, honestly, I was fine with that explanation. What I was not ok with was that no one looked at the calendar all day? And when I asked what I need to do now, a callous "You have to reschedule " was their reply. I asked for next available and am told they are booked solid through to mid-week. This type of customer service is just so disappointing. Mostly because this was not a simple cut and go. read more

The staff here definitely knows what they are doing. I normally am VERY cautious to ever get a service done at a chain salon, but the stylists at this Hair Cuttery have some serious skills. Emmy, Branden and Sue seem to be the best of the best at this salon, but honestly they are all really really good. The downside is the prices..its a cheap salon to go to, however every single addition to a basic service is another up charge...long hair, flat ironing, toning lightened hair...all additional charges. But again, the prices are quite reasonable to begin with so it really doesn't make a difference. read more

I went here for the first time on 10/01/2019. I downloaded the, "Hair Cuttery" app on my iPhone and set up the appointment via the app. The app told me to be there by 2:23PM. I arrived around 1:45PM and did not have to wait at all. My hairstylist was Casey. Casey like the rest of the staff was very friendly and professional. He did an awesome job cutting my long hair to a short new style. There are no complaints with how well he cut my hair which looked terrible when arriving. I paid $18 for the, "Signature Cut" (Not Taxed in PA), tipped an extra $7 cash for all his hard work. Would definitely recommend this place. Fair price, very clean, and excellent stylists. read more

We are from Maryland and plan on driving up to York just to get our son's hair cut. We had some free time before a movie and decided to get his hair cut. The young lady was awesome. She took her time and gave him a 5 star haircut. Her personality was outgoing and very sweet. Parking was ample and spots were available right out front. This location was clean and convenient. There was one other client being helped, and no one else in the salon, it seemed. After about 3 minutes, I was helped at the front desk. I said I needed a haircut, just a trim. My stylist was Emmy, and she seemed very sweet, fashionable, and professional. She suggested that I get a "treatment" on my hair (whatever that is) and she assumed that I was getting a blow dry too (which she told me would cost more be of the length of my hair). So, needless to say, I was not willing to pay over $40 when I came in for a $15 basic cut. If I wanted to pay that much, I wouldn't be at the Hair Cuttery...duh. So when I said no, she seemed offended and also a little insulting to me. As if she was thinking 'why don't you care enough about your hair to do this' and telling me how frizzy my hair was. Then said "well I guess I understand if you're on a budget"....which was a tad offensive too. Anyway....she did a fantastic job on my hair, but the constant up-selling and uppity attitude would prevent me from giving 4 or 5 stars. If you are willing to spend more on your hair and you're looking for suggestions/advice, I would definitely suggest this place! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! My daughter and I made the mistake of giving this salon 2 chances. First time, my daughter went in for cut and color. As her stylist was washing her hair, (I will keep names out) another stylist walked up to her and asked if she could wax the caterpillar crawling across her eyes. After spending almost 5 hours there, the color was brassy looking, the cut was off, and after expressing her disapproval, all the stylist could say was that was the best she could do with it. We stormed out with nasty hair and $ 150.00 out of her pocket. We came home and started making phone calls on how to fix it when my daughter realized she left her sunglasses there so we returned to get them. We were told she had not left them there. As we were getting ready to walk out the door, her stylist walks in wearing my daughters sunglasses. The same day, we seen the male stylist smack a fly on a woman customers head. The second time, it as a while and I decided I would try and go back and see if things had changed. Sometimes new management or something. I went for cut and color service. I was told it would be no more than $ 80.00 for everything. I was to be blonde coloring with very minimal raspberry tips on the side of my face. Maybe 6 or 7 tiny raspberry pieces. What I got was a blonde sideways stripe down the side of my head that makes me look like a sideways skunk. The whole time they were coloring my hair I had to hear how she was the best colorist around and she had awards etc. They messed my hair up so badly I had to let it grow out for 3 weeks and I finally was able to go to salon where the stylist was able to style it the way it was supposed to be done and the blonde stripe looks more blended, till it can be fixed. That mess cost me $120.00. Save your money Go elsewhere!! read more
