Staff is friendly and there's always someone you can ask.

Was man irgendwie fürs Basteln, Schreinern, Maurern usw. braucht, hier kriegt mans. Zumindest in 90% der Fälle. Natürlich hat auch dieser Laden nicht alles im Angebot, was man so brauchen könnte. Für Schrauben mit exotischen Maßen (M2,5; M12x20) geht man besser woanders hin und auch gutes Lötzinn hab ich (noch?) nicht bei Hornbach gefunden. Macht aber nix, der Rest ist da und wenn man weiß, was man sucht, findet man es auch relativ schnell. Und wenn nicht, dann fragt man einen der Verkäufer, die kennen sich tatsächlich sensationell gut aus in ihrem Reich. Die Preise bei Hornbach halten, was sie versprechen: Keine Aktionspreise, dafür von Haus aus konkurrenzfähig. Größere Einkäufe erledige ich nur noch hier, es lohnt sich einfach und gegenüber anderen Baumarktketten stimmen Service, Angebot und Preis. Wie es mit der Bezahlung des Personals aussieht, weiß ich nicht vom Motivationsfaktor und der Freundlichkeit her würde ich sagen: die Bezahlung scheint zu stimmen. Es gibt allerdings auch zwei Kritikpunkte: 1. Hornbach macht günstigere Preise als Obi, Toom und co. Aber: Hornbach hat im Gegensatz zu den anderen Ketten fast nur Markenware im Sortiment. Einen gammligen Grill fürs Festival: Fehlanzeige. Unter 30EUR geht nichts. Das selbe bei Blumentöpfen: Alles gute Qualität und Made in Germany (an sich löblich, aber ich kanns mir halt nicht immer leisten), die billigalternative aus Osteuropa oder Asien gibts dafür nicht. Und so werden die anderen Mitbewerber doch wieder interessant, denn die haben beide Preisklassen im Sortiment. 2. Etwas merkwürdig erscheint mir auch die Praxis, das selbe Produkt (z.B. Silikon) an verschiedenen Stellen im Laden anzubieten: Bei den Fliesen und dem Malerbedarf. Eigentlich auch positiv, es spart Wege. Aber der Nachteil: Bei den Fliesen stehen günstigere Eigenmarken, beim Malerbedarf nicht. Warum nicht? Es hat für mich etwas den Beigeschmack, die günstigeren Produkte vor dem Kunden zu verstecken und zu hoffen, dass er dann doch zum teureren Produkt greift. Und genau dafür gibts einen Stern abzug!

Ok this is a mans…read moreworld and a giant man cave :-)) This place is bigger than the OBI I think and everything from tools, raw materials for construction trough to a garden centre. I think it would take me a day or more to explore every corner of this store. This is totally my kind of place and I would probably spend my paycheck here buying all sorts of things I don't need. This is the kind of place a man or a woman will walk in looking for one thing and walk out with a cart full of things you may or may not use one day ;-)) Prices are good and I just wish they had more staff around to help customers. It's ok if you understand German well and know what things are called but if you don't, like me, you spend an awful lot of time roaming the isles looking for things as there is very little of any English spoken here and having your google translator handy is a prerequisite :-)) I feel sometime the locals don't even know the names of things in German, as I have lately discovered. Anyway if you need anything to do with gardening, auto related items, gardening, paint, woodworking or tools and equipment this is a good place. Lots of choice and plenty of parking. I would imagine this place is a zoo on Saturdays. I would avoid going there on the weekend.
