This is my go to hotel when I visit family and friends in the area . It is very clean and inexpensive with that old school vibe . Lots of pine trees and grass make it feel more like home than a regular hotel . If you stay here , make sure you get one of the King Suites on either side of the pool . These are the newer rooms and only cost a few dollars more . I checked out one of the regular rooms this time by the office side and it was older and not very nice , almost like a different hotel . I would say the one review that said he had bed bugs or his room was dirty was in one of these . I went back to the office and got my usual King Suite on the left side of the pool . I have stayed in that same building 3 different years , 2014 , 2019 , and this time . I did notice the pool was dirty this time and looked like it wasn't in working condition . I have never used the pool , but it is usually very clean and nice . I always come here in the Fall , so I'm not swimming in the cold . Most of the other hotels in the area are like $90 and up , but this place is like $70 for a King Suite and well worth it . The beds are comfortable and is good for a couple nights stay . Close to town for restaurants and stores . It's very quite here and they have a chair outside your room if you want to sit outside . There are also picnic tables .

The countertop had a slimy substance all over it. The biggest issue was the lack of toilet paper and the toilet paper holder was ripped off the wall. A toilet seat is also broken. Shame on Hotwire for partnering with a motel like this. And shame on the motel for renting a room with such poor sanitary conditions.

From the housekeeping that i told when i saw them outside to disregard cleaning my room to the reception staff, everyone on the grounds was so nice. Now listen. When I booked this I was not expecting the Ritz, but i will say I was pleased with the room! It was huge. My room had two double beds with tons of space and a huge bathroom. Now, the room was not gorgeous and the tv had like ten channels and the wifi barely worked but these rooms and the hotel is designed for a quick stay so I get it. I tried using the indoor pool- you get your towels from the front desk- the towels are super cheap and make sure you have your wrist band in case security asks you (yes you read that right). The indoor pool as well as the outdoor pool could use some TLC. The bottoms need to be scrubbed. Actually everything could there. I feel like every thing here needs to be tweaked just slightly. The pool chairs outside had like permanent dirt marks in them. Things were usable but looked dirty if that makes sense. Now of course, the hotel is on South of the Border grounds which puts you near their restaurants and shops which for your overnight is good and you can walk back and forth to places. I wondered about safety and such being that it was such a transient place but there were not issues at all. I didn't feel unsafe at all. My car wasn't disturbed. It wasn't noisy and actually, i slept well. If the place was kept up better, it would be a really great place. I know they don't get the traffic that I'm sure they used to, so i see why they don't. But the location is a great stopping / overnight spot from so many great places. I'm glad I stayed here and i might possible do it again.

I received an email inviting me to a home cooked meal instead of eating out on the town. A welcome change from a normal week spent on the road. The owners were actually present to watch the Clemson vs Auburn game and brought over the meal for the guests to indulge. It was wonderful and brought the guests together in a communal fashion which would never be experienced in a hotel atmosphere. It was during the week days so everyone there was on business and thankful for the meal because it was a balmy 30-something degrees outside. The rooms are simple yet beautiful. Each room (I've only stayed in two of them) has cable TV, a small desk, bed, end table, sitting chair, private bath, and a closet. The kitchen is stocked to the gills and accessible anytime. The common areas are kept neat and tidy and there's a countertop Keurig for all of your coffee and tea needs. Fresh fruit and less healthful snacks are also supplied in the kitchen. I've stayed several times on business and will likely return one year for the Sandblast Rally race which is a popular local attractions for off-road racing enthusiasts.
