I asked about the terrible Yelp reviews for SVME and she explained that since they have a lot of doctors there are a lot of scheduling issues, but the doctors themselves are great. I spoke with 2-3 different front desk staff at SVME, they were polite and followed through on getting me a walk-in spot. They took me back within a couple minutes of my appointment time, the young guy who did the first couple tests forgot to dialate my eyes which made me wait 15 minutes more after the Dr saw me, but was otherwise great and very friendly. Dr Zealear was super cool and though they squeezed me in the same day did not seem rushed, in fact he seemed really thorough in the examination, explanation of results, implications, and recommendations etc. Overall WAY better than the Yelp rating suggests.

There were a couple of highly rated optometrists in Grass Valley, a 30 minute drive from Auburn so I inquired. The reception staff at Layne Christensen's office were incredibly helpful and genuinely concerned on my behalf. They arranged an appointment the next day. Dr. Christensen was thorough, a great listener and diagnosed my issue immediately. He provided exactly what I needed. I highly recommend this office for its high level of compentency and genuine concern for their patients.

Today when I went to see her it was the same experience. She was patient and explained and educated me about everything pertinent to my eyesight. I actually wept briefly, so relieved that she was listening to Me, paying attention to Me. I wasn't just another number. She spent an hour with me. Her staff were equally patient and spent another hour with me to help order frames that not only I liked, but ones that would be the most helpful with my particular prescription. Wendy brought me back for a very thorough round of pre-testing. Her positive attitude and sense of humor helped me to relax, which was helpful since I always get anxious at doctor appointments. I recently learned a fun fact that being stressed out actually makes your vision worse so feeling comfortable matters! This optometry office is unique because you get the feel of a peaceful town but they've got all the same sophisticated equipment as the reputable optometrists I've seen in LA. Their technology is the leading edge. I'd never even heard of IPL that's FDA-approved to treat dry eye until I came here. It was refreshing to get outside of LA where doctors with an extensive background tend to feel unapproachable with their prestigious marketing and crazy fees even though they're providing the same services. I feel like Dr. Tiffany Chan is the exact opposite. She is a highly knowledgeable specialist yet personable and a good listener. She never made me feel as if I was asking too many questions. Instead, she made me feel heard and respected my concerns. I had done my own research on dry eye syndrome since my LA optometrist had never taken it seriously (can you believe that???) Dr. Chan examined my tear breakup time and her explanations were very helpful in pointing me in the right direction. I've seen a lot of clinicians and specialists in my lifetime and many of them left me with the sense that it's their own best interest that they have in mind. It's clear to me that Dr. Chan is a doctor of good integrity and she cares about her patients. When I followed up with her she sounded so glad to hear of my progress. I take a holistic approach to my health and I appreciate how supportive and caring she's been about my eye care and wellbeing. Undeniably, the quality of our vision is central to how we feel in our lives. I value and appreciate having such a highly accomplished individual and truly sweet human being as my eye doctor. Being able to see a professional with heart is such a rare find these days. Given the value, it's worth the trip if you're in the mood for a getaway surrounded by trees and you happen to be due for an eye exam.

My eyes are ridiculously sensitive & Dr. Moon has cared for them for my entire history of astigmatism! I still travel here (1.5hrs) because of the trust built among this practice. Recently, I had an exam with Dr. Khieu... allow me to sing praises to Dr. Khieu's amazing patience, calming manner, & communicative process throughout the exam. Closest care to Dr. Moon I've received since! This was my first time working with Optician Shelly as well & she was just delightful! Energetic with joy, patience, and excited to help me find the right frame. She ordered the frames I truly wanted & even sent me a link to the model so I could share the look at home.
