A couple years ago I really wanted some contacts and he stopped at nothing to make sure that we could get a prescription that would fit my needs. It was very challenging. I was a new patient last week and well taken care of by the front desk and eyecare staff. Everyone very helpful, good at communicating.

Dr. Christensen and his staff are knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. My appointment felt as if I were part of the family. They take the time to explain everything and they do it efficiently; without sacrificing the human element. Their customer service is impressive. The staff get to know you and help carefully select frames. I was heard and seen. The glasses I received are my favorite pair yet. The prescription is dead-on and they perfected the fit; even if it meant coming back for a followup. You're in good hands when you come here. I do not fully understand what is happening at this office vs. Medicare. Made an appointment for this office, I was told Medicare will pay for this visit. I was told as I was taken back to have my eyes examined, I would have my eyes dilated...ugh, I know, ok. Was told I would be checked for Cataracts. Sit down in the chair, read a couple of charts, Dr. asked me to put my chin on the ? to look in my eyes, ok. Right in the middle of this exam, my chin on the ?, Dr. Christensen, OH, I forgot something, I will be right back...I do want to add, he did NOT seem to be throughly involved in checking my eyes.., felt odd, he seems pre occupied. Got through the test, was taken to the front desk, I was THEN told, lets make another visit, you come back we will THEN dialate your eyes...2 viisits, I have never heard of this before...I ordered my glasses. Get home, these glasses were $350.00, I will take good care of these, they will last me for years. Prior to this visit...I bought cheaters, $15.00...bought them last year...WOW, these look exactly like the ones I just paid $350.00 for. OMG, I just wasted well over $300.00...I call this office, wanted to return them, I was told to bring them back. In between this, I called Medicare, explained this whole visit to them, I was TOLD, you are NOT covered for eye check visits...I brought this up to this office, I was told , YES YOU ARE...we went back and forth many times...I arrive to return these glasses yesterday....was taken into ROBIN? or ROBYNS room, I showed her my cheaters and the glasses I paid them for $350.00, she handed me a check..did NOT listen to what I had to say! I got more of a Yeah, yeah, yeah, in other words, lets get this over with...we both stood up, as I was walking down the hall, back towards her, she said in a louder voice than usual, "AND DO NOT PUT ME ANY WHERE ON SOCIAL MEDIA EITHER"...Which of course lead me to check out what OTHERS have stated about ROBYN....everyone else in the office was so patient/nice!! I found OTHERS are complaining about ROBYN ALSO...I would like to strongly suggest, if you have a Senior that needs their eyes checked, PLEASE GO WITH THEM TO THIS OFFICE, IF THIS IS WHERE YOU CHOOSE TO GO....Please read NAME tags, try hard to avoid Robyn.....I am calling Medicare AGAIN today, to inform them that ROBYN at this office stated MEDICARE does NOT know what they are talking about....Keep in mind....not saying this office did this, but as we know, people/friends/family are asked or PAID to leave good reviews for THEIR OWN business......Everything went ok, while I am being tested/paying for these glasses...but, if you end up having a problem YOU end up dealing with Robin....you will leave pissed off!!!!!! This review is about Robin - it is shocking that she has worked in an eye doctor's office for as many years as she has and still can't perform the very basic repair with a pair of glasses. Wondering how the doctor's in this office have allowed her and one other woman in the front to "rule the roost" for as long as they have? They are like Queen Elizabeth1 and Queen Elizabeth2 - their own private kingdom and castle is an optical shop inside a shopping center in a no-where town. :( read more

I had a minor insurance snag, and the ladies that work his front desk were so helpful and sweet. We were able to resolve everything and I received the amazing treatment right away that I needed. I initially met Dr. Christensen and he sorted out my complex vision problem as I had previous eye surgery. He was friendly and was able to figure things out. He strikes me as being exceedingly knowledgable and skilled. He pays attention to detail and is a good communicator. His fees are fair and appropriate, actually less than I anticipated for the eye exam and the glasses. I returned to his office with my 14 year old son who also has a complex eye problem, amblyopia. I very much appreciate that Dr. Christensen and his entire staff communicated directly with the 14 year old and my son felt understood and appreciated as a person. The optician who helped my son pick glasses was so patient and kind with her counsel. There was no sense of this office just trying to move product. I am a medical doctor and have very high expectations of professional conduct. This office met all of my expectations and I don't thing a person could find a better eye doctor anywhere. I suspect that Dr. Christensen treats his staff well because they are relaxed, helpful, and friendly. The mood of a doctor's office is a reflection of the "boss." read more

They charged me twice as much for a basic eye exam as other optometrists in the area. And I only got ten minutes with the doctor. I feel ripped off. read more

I went to two other Dr's who couldn't get my Rx right; even after multiple visits. Dr. Christensen spent a ton of time with me .. and, my RX , now, is PERFECT !! I would HIGHLY recommend them ! BTW, the staff is excellent as well. read more

I had the best experience at Dr. Christensen's office and I would recommend this practice to as many people as possible. He is an experienced, intelligent, approachable and efficient Optometrist with amazing staff and management. From the moment I walked in I could tell that him and his team were going the extra mile to ensure that every customer in the office was being taken care of professionally and respectfully. I went in last week my visits always used to be warm but boy was I wrong! The two older ladies Robin and Carol upfront appear to be nice but are very unprofessional and fake. The new lady Vanessa that pulled me back was so sweet and informative. My husband waited in the waiting room while I went in for my exam obviously those two neglected to see my husband stayed behind because they discussed loud enough for my husband to hear how they disliked the pace of which "the new girl " went , how she dressed (which was professional) but they proceeded to rip this poor girl apart I cannot even repeat some of the comments . I am only writing this because I had such a great experience while In my actual exam with that young lady she went above and beyond to help me and answer my questions that hearing what her co workers said about her I hope she reads this and gets out of there because there is extreme discrimination going on there and her being the only person of color it turned my stomach in disgust . I highly doubt the doctor knows but then again these women have been there longer than any other employee it only leads me fo believe those are his views as well . I will not be back and I will be sure to make any one in grass valley aware of my experience. read more

I just went to see Dr Kirshbaum who moved here from just down the street. I cannot say enough good about Dr Stephanie Kirshbaum. She is delightful, warm, fun and very smart.
