The branches from this massively wide three-trunk Maple tree, hung over a few neighboring backyards. The crew from Gigi's Trees were very professional and mindful of where they dropped large tree branches ensuring nothing on anyone's property was damaged. It took well over eight hours to complete the job because of how huge the tree was. After the tree was down, they cleaned up any/all debris, smaller branches and sawdust, whether on my property and/or other neighbors. Great job! What I appreciated most, however, was how they spoke to each other. Very professional. Very kind with manners. There was no foul talk or silly offensive "guy jokes" made while at work or when communicating with each other. Even when they ate lunch. Very clean, and that matters because little ears could be listening/hearing. One last thing - they care about wildlife that may have their home(s) in any tree they take down. Hiring a tree company that cares about wildlife also matters. Should wildlife be affected, unfortunately, a tree company with integrity will and should already know who to call for help (local rehabber, Rideau Valley Wildlife, etc). The whole situation was pretty scary, because not only did it fill the yard, half of the enormous trunk, was resting on our garden gate, and the whole thing was in danger of coming down. We first called the city, because it was an iffy situation as to whether the tree was on our property, or if it was a city tree. Sadly, their representative came out and determined that it was our responsibility. We immediately started calling around for estimates, and had 3 other companies come out, before we got a call back from Cooper Tree Service. They had their rep come by to check it out, and we were very relieved that he didn't seem as daunted by the whole situation, the way that we were. He said that he didn't think that it would take too long to dismantle the whole thing, and my husband and I just looked at each other, like "Yeah, sure." But he had a really great vibe, and his price was reasonable, so we decided to go ahead with him. BEST DECISION EVER!!! The tree guy (Brady), had the whole thing cut down in less than 3 hours, AND he had it bundled, sorted, and neatly off to the side, and ready for the chipper. He also left the whole yard in immaculate condition... we were shocked! The entire job took, maybe 4 hours from start to finish, and we couldn't have been happier with the result. Not only that, before he left, Brady also smoothed out the ragged, broken area of the tree that had been left standing, AND he gave us some excellent recommendations, for some tree planting that we would like to have done in our yard next year. All in all, we're lucky to have found Cooper's and truly grateful to have been taken care of by Brady.

We had just lost two mature maple trees (+70 years) in our front yard due to disease and a sudden…read moresummer storm. Although we already had a front flower garden, it just didn't have the same appeal that it once had and, of course, we now had more sun. We desperately needed to change the look of our front yard and had some preliminary discussions with a few landscapers. However, we were not terribly impressed with their approach to our needs. Finally, we met with Ed Hansen, President of Hansen Lawn and Gardens Limited. Ed took the time to listen to our overall expectations and then explain what the possibilities were for our yard and what his team could do for us. I found him extremely knowledgeable, down to earth and very sincere. He had one of his staff draw up a garden plan for us to look at. We were very impressed with the design plan that was presented and after receiving a detailed written estimate, we agreed to have the work done right away. The actual work began within about three weeks. In the meantime, Ed was always available by phone or by mail to answer any questions we had. Planting day had finally arrived and we were just a little anxious. The planting team were very enthusiastic and conscientious. They clearly enjoyed what they were doing and it showed in everything they did. The result is a refreshed and vibrant front flower garden that we are now extremely proud of. We have already had some wonderful compliments from many of our neighbours. The transformation has been outstanding. The refreshed "curb appeal" of our home is far better that we had ever expected. The overall cost of the work was extremely reasonable and will more than pay for itself when we eventually sell our home. We feel very pleased about our decision to have the work done by Hansen Lawn and Garden and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking to have any landscaping work done on their property. I need to get my tree removed from my front yard…read more I contacted Green Thumb and they came promptly to do an assessment and write up an estimate. My situation was a bit complicated because it wasn't evident if the tree was a city tree or if the tree was my responsibility. Green Thumb worked with the city to determine it was, in fact, a city tree...so not one that Green Thumb would cut down. Despite the amount of time that Green Thumb put into the project they refused compensation. They are were also very polite and friendly during their site visit.

Crews operating in residential neighborhoods need to maintain their equipment properly and treat local residents with basic respect. Highly disappointing behavior.

We fired them and went with Zoryk's - within 2 months, the lawn was revitalized and began to bloom. Mike Zoryk (the owner/president) gave us helpful advice on maintenance, in addition to his own hard work. Granted it wasn't cheap to renew the lawn, we had one painful summer. This year, we have continued with Zoryk's (and a lower price) and have continued to be quite happy with their services. They are reliable, and helpful. Many of our friends have now gone with Zoryk's and are similarly happy. We would highly recommend them!
