My situation was a bit complicated because it wasn't evident if the tree was a city tree or if the tree was my responsibility. Green Thumb worked with the city to determine it was, in fact, a city tree...so not one that Green Thumb would cut down. Despite the amount of time that Green Thumb put into the project they refused compensation. They are were also very polite and friendly during their site visit.

This experience was remarkably negative. We chose to go on a Friday late morning based on the…read morehours posted on their website and were made immediately to feel unwelcome as we were informed they did not open until 1:00. We almost left at this point, and in hindsight should have, as what began as an unfriendly encounter only worsened from there. Our small group, with two young children made a quick, tree-less exit after being verbally berated and threatened by one of the owners when I carefully crossed the row of saplings to check on my sleeping child. We were still being yelled at as we got into our vehicles to leave. A grocery store tree would have been better.

The website stated it opened at 10:00 AM on Friday but the sign on the gate (which was open) said 1:00. - They both complained about how many people come to buy their trees on the weekend. - The wife yelled at my sister for carefully walking 30 ft. across the young saplings to check on her son who was napping in the car. - We decided to leave at this point and reflected back to the wife why. (She is the least pleasant person in the world.) - As we were packing up (being verbally assaulted by the wife the whole time) she actually threatened me physically. - The contrast between the experience we had and what we expected is laughable now but it very unpleasant and a bit scary at the time. - If you're looking for Christmas Cheer, or a even a mildly pleasant exchange with people, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE! In contrast the other place on the same road that was right by the 417 was a lovely experience.
