Whilst some of them may hint at practical purposes (like spaceship shaped ice trays), mainly they're just there to be fun. And fun they are. There is moustache themed paraphernalia aplenty at Popshop, with fingerstache tattoos, moustache chocolate lollypops, moustache straws and fuzzy stick on 'staches. A few of the other items that stood out on my last trip to Popshop included bobbly-head flamingoes, witty flipbooks, bacon flavoured toothpaste and many other things designed to lift the corners of your mouth, such as an audible fart book. I made the mistake of testing one of the buttons of said book, which was followed by an extremely awkward 10 seconds in which the book blurted out an extended and, might I say, varied fart. I then attempted to put as much distance as possible between me and the farting book (not an easy task in this tiny shop) whilst fellow shoppers avoided my eye contact. As I left the store, the man working in the shop picked up a handful of stock, setting off a chorus of squeaking rubber chickens and decapitated limbs. The man smiled to himself and I smiled too, knowing for certain that he had the best job in the world. Ever.

The gift was not age appropriate for an under 3 year old and I requested an exchange for something for my newborn who is due in one week. The shop attendant/ owner had a bizarre reaction. Her demeaner and language were aggressive and I was treated with utter contempt. I am grateful that I had a colleague with me who was equally shocked by her vicosous behaviour. It certainly brought me down from my pre-motherhood high and I will never subject myself to her bitterness by setting foot in Humble Beginnings again. Nor will my colleagues and friends. I recommend that you spare yourself the angst and avoid Humble Begginings at all costs! No one deserves to be treated that way.

I was sort of in a daze (I had been to Bon Iver's concert the night before) and my aimless wandering led me to discover they had Kip & Co linen sheets! A brand I had been trying to get my mittens on for a while, winter was coming** - so I bought a beautiful crushed blue quilt cover to cocoon myself in bed. The lady working was so lovely and helpful, and we had a rather loud squealing moment when we realised we had BOTH BEEN TO THE SAME CONCERT. Domo Collections is one of Paddington's high end home wares stores. I love these shops they are the…read moreheight of style and expense. I can't really afford anything in them and I don't own a home to put anything they offer, but none the less it is fun to pretend. My favourite thing in Domo is their furniture, they sell the most amazing lounge suites, many of them other quite other worldly, I can picture a sophisticated, well dressed alien reclining on this kind of furniture. I would describe the lounge designs but they are so unique and innovative I honestly don't know how. They have the coolest display cabinet I have ever seen, consisting of uneven lopsided cubes it again follows the futuristic style they offer, yet it somehow does not seem over the top. This is such a great shop, if you have the budget it is must see.
