It's all about the chairs, they sell the coolest chairs ever, it is truly space age furniture from the future. To walk past that shop without stopping is impossible. All up the walls they have giant shelves displaying their collection of clear Perspex coloured chairs. All their products are by cutting edge designers, their products include funky lamps, there is one I particularly want called Blob M and is well a yellow blob of the letter M, and another amazing lamp constructed from oak and iron named Brave New World. Also they have really cute little gnome tables (the gnome sits holding up the table top) If you are looking to escape reality, make a new one. Go to Kartell and fast track your way to the future.

I had initially stopped by because I was looking for an oil burner, but what I found was so much more and left with an armful. There were pillows and African fabrics, Japanese china and Moroccan lamps, candles and jewellery, handwoven baskets and hand painted frames. The textures and smells hypnotized. I could see a spot for each found gem in my place at home. I need this right? I kept telling myself. The staff is friendly and the prices are affordable. Don't forget to head upstairs for larger pieces such as dressers and stools. They take cards and cash so don't worry and prepare to spend some time.

For me, some standouts were the strappy leather sandals on display as you walk into the store. With different varieties of tan, black and brown leather straps all woven in different ways, you could likely find your staple summer shoe among this bunch. I did, but because I didn't have over $100 at my disposal, I had to wink and walk away... making promises to come back (that I hope I can keep). Toward the back of the shop (up the stair, careful not to trip), I found my second little love: Parisian thread bracelets. Made simply out of thick thread and metallic beads and finished with small pompoms, these bracelets are as sweet as they come, and fairly affordable at that. I was sort of in a daze (I had been to Bon Iver's concert the night before) and my aimless wandering led me to discover they had Kip & Co linen sheets! A brand I had been trying to get my mittens on for a while, winter was coming** - so I bought a beautiful crushed blue quilt cover to cocoon myself in bed. Alright I wasn't *really* looking for a human thigh-bone trumpet. But they really have one. And a 120 year old ceremonial Mogul helmet from Rajistan. I was actually in Kashgar perving on the jewellery when these and other unusual delights caught my eye. I don't think there is an emporium quite like this one anywhere else in Sydney. As well as the usual Nag Champa, Indian jewellery and mirrored cushions, Kashgar searches the world for unique and rare antiques, and has the most beautiful selection of rings I've ever seen in one of these types of Eastern emporiums. And it smells really nice.

They have a sturdy wooden bed with some very eastern-looking bedspreads and pillow covers, they have bronze statues of Indian goddesses, they have various antiques from who-even-knows-where! Of course, there are practical benefits too. I saw a rack of kaftans, and who doesn't want a good kaftan? There were even fez's! Fez's! I've never even seen a fez in real life! They have some of the most magnificent jewelry, as well as the cutest dreamcatchers I've come across in a long while. The old gentleman at the counter is unobtrusive, so keep an eye out, or he'll sneak up on ya.
