Doors are closed and boarded up, the parking lot is cracked and needing a repainting. It's hanging on by a thread. A bummer, really. Malls used to be super cool for shopping and hanging out. Then came Walmart followed by Amazon. And now with COVID, why would anyone leave the house. I can't imagine that this mall will last much longer. There are a couple of athletic shoe stores, and two lower priced clothing chains in the mall. other than that there are a few scattered local businesses and lots of posters for the WB network. There are NO food businesses operating in the mall. The commons area are maintained well and the mall does not have a run down appearance - just no businesses and very few customers. I think I saw less than 20 during my visit - and this was in the noon hour on a Tuesday.

I was here because I stupidly forgot to grab a tie when I packed my bag for this weekend. I have an event to go to and a tie is required, Belk is the only apparent haute couture in Kinston so I stopped in, The men's department was hard to find because it's probably the smallest in the store. Eventually, I spotted a dozen or two ties to choose from and at $15, that's too rich for my blood. Only one of them was close to the color scheme I needed and I'm just not going to spend that much money for something I will wear once. I have a bunch at home.
