Now it's a little escape from the family reunion we were attending. It's in the middle of nowhere so you occasionally get to see grazing elk and antelope. We came down for snacks and ice on a few occasions. The gas pumps are really old. They are working relics practically. They don't sell lotto tickets. You have to go down to Stanford's for those. The clientele are nice. This is one of those places were the locals hang. Not all of them but a few. It used to be closed on Sundays because Mormons owned it. I believe it's open on Sundays now. Probably because the main road is busier. It's a really interesting place to see. It's a living breathing antique with that real small town feel.

I didn't have a clue where it was so I stopped at the Midway Station to ask for directions. When I walked in, there was an ol' Cowboy behind the counter, his name was Don Goodman, him and his wife Evelyn owned the Midway and had for at least 30 years. Well when I mentioned I was trying to find Timber Knoll, he knew who I was and said they all had been waiting for me to get there...lol After about ten minutes, it was like I had known them for years. Several years later, I moved closer to Show Low, Don and Evelyn sold the Store (which then was also the Post Office) and ended up buying the house I lived in, in Timber Knoll. They were super people, Don got me into roping and did a few cattle drives with him and Carlos who was the foreman at Timberline Ranch. One thing that I always laughed at was when you walked in the door, on the left sitting on the floor in a flower pot, next to the Ice Cream freezer was a peyote plant with a LARGE button... No one ever said anything about it.. about a year or so later the button was gone and Don said " the other day some hippy looking people came in and after they left, he noticed it was gone"... he said they must of been from Phoenix..... LOL

It was reopened last year after a much needed renovation. And the community here loves it !!! Gorgeously decorated country store that is well stocked with almost everything you need. Food 5/5 A popular feature is a local baker Shannon Fitzgibbons who brings a nice variety of fresh backed bread, fudge, pies, brownies, cookies and I'll vouch it is all Yummy! Lots of food dry goods, cold cuts, eggs, bacon, milk, soft drinks, cases of water, adult beverages, ice cream and so much more. We are very happy the new store is here and please stop in to patronize this family owned business, stop by and say hello to Ashley and the team! Be well my fellow Yelpers & see you in the next review!

We purchased a sourdough oatmeal crème pie and when I tell you it was the best thing I've eaten snack wise in a long time , it was delicious! The staff in the store were so lovely and laughed at my jokes. There was also a welcoming porch where some of the locals hung out on when entering the store. I will be stopping by again on my way home to get me another oatmeal cream pie.
