This park is a valley between homes and is quite wide, bordered by East Georgia Avenue on the north. There is an open space in the center that isn't quite flat enough for game play but would be fine for a picnic or outing. Several picnic benches throughout plus more than playground, two swing sets and a covered stage with several rows of set seating. The park was being used by some parents and kids today so I didn't want to take too many pictures lest I get the label of "creepy dude." The park is clear from litter and the grass is cared for. Another of the parks that follow Red Deer Creek as it wanders through Pampa, Mora Wilks Park is…read morepassive but has a nice smooth sidewalk that is ideal as a walking path though it doesn't loop. Top to bottom and back is maybe a half mile and while it's an easy enough flat walk, it's rather boring. The park does not have any active features though it is well maintained. As the trees are still green, I would suspect that it is much prettier in the Spring and Summer. There are no features here that I could see other than an open space that's good for walking or perhaps flying a kite. There is limited parking and the only features of the park are two benches, a trash can and an interesting piece of red/brown public art that has no label and no caption. The grass is very neatly mowed and the park features a small depression area with steps and benches. I suspect that it's a good spot to pop out from work for a smoke break in the warmer weather. This small park commemorates Pampa's first resident doctor, Dr. Vittorio Emanuel von Brunow, who…read morewas generally known as Dr. Brunow. He was born in Charleston SC on October 27, 1862. His parents were Count Phillip von Brunow and Countess von Brunow. Count von Brunow was prominent in diplomatic circles in the services of Russia for many years. Count von Brunow's family returned to their old home in East Prussia in 1864. Dr. von Brunow came from Gainesville to the Texas Panhandle in a surrey. German, he had probably heard of the Thut family who were German-speaking Swiss, and he stayed at first in the Thut Hotel near Lefors. Soon after arriving in Pampa in 1903, Dr. von Brunow had a white frame building constructed at 101 South Cuyler. The von Brunows lived upstairs, and the lower floor was used as a doctor's office, drugstore, post-office and telephone office. Dr. von Brunow died on May 7, 1941, and was buried in Fairview Cemetery. He was survived by his wife and step-daughter and four children by a former marriage. The park is some of the greenest space in all of Pampa on this mid-October afternoon. There is a sculpture titled "Grandfather's Vision" that doesn't provide much context.
