I had a few things I needed to report on my tax like W2, HSA, Stocks & Dividend, Interest from School loan. The "tax professional" at HR Block seemed overwhelmed and couldn't give me a price for how much it would cost me to file my taxes. She said she couldn't give me an exact return without me paying for the preparation fee. I didn't ask how much because the lady at the counter said that they would be able to figure how much I would get on my return without being charge unless I wanted to file it through them "just like you would if you filed it yourself online". Long story short she said "it could cost me up to $200 I don't know"? How you not know how much it would cost me too file my taxes? Only way for them to find out is for me to pay for a preparation fee? I ended up doing it myself online for $12.95 Plus an additional $6.95 audit assistance through Freetaxusa. Btw TurboTax required me to purchase the premier version ($40-60) since I had stocks and dividend to report. What a scam!
