Garrett Klayer overcharged two times to prepare tax returns for two years for an estate. The first…read moretime, he quoted a charge with a spread of $100 but charged far above that. For the final return, Garrett quoted $100-$150, saying it wouldn't take long to complete and he would have it by the end of the week so he could get it off his desk. However, 1 1/2 weeks later Garrett called because he had forgotten why I had sent him final return. After a detailed explanation, again Garrett said it wouldn't take long to complete and he would have it by the end of the week so he could get it off his desk. However, the receptionist called the next week for me to come pick up the return. I was flabbergasted when she presented a $320 invoice. I asked to speak to Garrett to see what happened to the $100-$150 he had quoted. She said Garrett is unavailable as he is on vacation this week but the $20 charge was for printing my copy since I chose to pick up the return instead if having it emailed. I was never given an option. I wrote an email to Garrett and copied Mr Tacinelli (of Holland, Tacinelli & Klayer) first an explanation. and after a couple of weeks with no response, I called him and he said he didn't have the info for my small account and didn't have time to look at it with all of his other big accounts. He said he learned from me to not quite a fee. Had he just done the return the first week, as he promised, he wouldn't have had to had such a long phone conversation when he confused me with another client. Certainly he could have learned that the first time and I should have learned to never use him again

Our taxes were filed late, no extension filed on our behalf. We then received a FEDERAL TAX LIEN NOTICE. We used our one-time abatement due to this her lack of due diligence and when confronted to discuss the issue, she blamed US for a gap in communication (WELL before the tax deadline mind you). Instead of apologizing and taking responsibility, we were blamed. The complete lack of professionalism is truly disgusting. If you value professionalism and financial peace of mind, go elsewhere. You'll thank me later.
