Just wanted to let folks know about the absolutely wretched service my husband and I have received from your company. My husband was trying to close out his IRA to help alleviate an unforeseen problem that has popped up. It took 3 calls to customer service over the course of 3 hours just to get the form. Apparently the first 2 reps weren't able to tell us the form was available online. We were also told by 2 reps that the form had to be either faxed or mailed, and we were quoted basic time frames as for when to expect things to be processed. We mentioned that time is of the essence, and so were told to fax the documents for best results, and that any local H&R Block office would fax it for free. It's a 45 minute drive to the nearest H&R Block that is open this time of year, but we needed to get this taken care of, so we went. We were greeted by someone who was friendly until we asked her if she could fax something. I'm not sure why that upset her, but it was obvious that it did. She then proceeded to try and talk us out of closing the account. We had already been through that discussion with a few other reps today, so we informed her that we understood the repercussions, and we still wanted to close it. She went into the back, and came back out about 20 minutes later saying that she had tried to fax the paperwork 3 times, but it wouldn't go through. We then called customer service again to verify the number. They confirmed that we had the correct number, and told us to try somewhere else. We explained how we had jumped through several hoops just to get this far, and could someone PLEASE help us. The first gentleman we talked to (Donnell? Darnell?) was very nice, but simply wasn't able to help. We then spoke with his supervisor, who said her name was Jamie, and she was incredibly rude, condescending, and dismissive. She also refused to let me speak with anyone else, despite acknowledging that there were higher ranking individuals in the building. On top of that, she insinuated that because I was the one she was talking to, that I was trying to steal my husband's money, even though he was sitting right next to me, and not talking because he was driving. Is that how you train your customer service supervisors?? Those IRA funds rightfully belong to my husband, and all he wants is to get the money back. I am appalled at how difficult H&R is making it to release HIS money to HIM. We have both been incredibly loyal customers over the years, speaking highly of your company and recommending it to friends. That stops today. I've worked in customer service for several years, and although I have had some not-so-nice co-workers here and there, I've never worked with anyone as rude as Jamie. Ever. From here on, we will be sharing our story with anyone who will listen, it will be posted on every review site I can find, and I will be contacting anyone I can find at H&R Block until this is resolved. My husband is a good person, and he has served his country in the Army for years. It's a shame that H&R Block would treat him this way. read more
