NSO is by far the BEST CPA firm out there!…read more Nina and her team are fabulous!! All of the staff are so professional and everything is done electronically so it's super easy to get them all of your documents! I'm so thankful I found them back in 2016 when I started my own business! They are so knowledgeable and very helpful!! They are conveniently located in Fishers, but like I said, everything is done online though the client portal! 5 stars!!!

At this point I decided to take my business elsewhere because I needed the money urgently for family matters. I went to H&R block and they offered to beat her pricing, met with me in person the next day after having phone discussion, & got the same work completed Nina quoted me done in ONE DAY. Initially my communications explaining the details related to my tax situation were with Nina exclusively. Shortly after getting my commitment for business she became completely detached from the conversation, & handed me off to her assistant who seemed overworked & short in her communications. It was quite difficult having to re-explain the same details to the two of them who never seemed to be on the same page on matters pertaining to my tax situation. Nina's team never offered to meet in person & by the time they finally got everything completed I had moved onto someone else. After having not filed the taxes she sent me an invoice saying I was 60 days late on pmt, and then sent emails with threatening undertones of lawsuits to get paid for the low quality work & insulted my character.

When I first learned about new tax laws affecting our retirement investments and documents, our…read morefinancial planner recommended that my wife and I visit Kent Shipley to have our documents reviewed and updated. Kent started out as a CPA specializing in tax accounting, but added to his education and practice with his law degree. With both disciplines, he has gone on to specialize in estate and trust planning. We simply brought in our old documents and discussed our wishes along with the impact of the new laws. We had a few follow up communications and then a final one to sign our documents. Throughout the process, we were pleased with his professionalism as well as his friendly manner. Though he now specializes in trust and estate planning (including wills, powers of attorney, etc), his son has joined the office to handle the tax accounting. I also used his son's expertise to file an amended tax return. I am not sure if they require recommendations for new clients or not, but you definitely need to schedule an appointment to get in for either service. If you have anyone who depends upon you and you've begun building up assets for retirement, make sure that you have your documents in order to carry out your wishes and not leave your loved ones to have to figure it out/fight over what to do. We are very satisfied with knowing that if anything happens to either one of us, dealing with problems will be much easier having chosen Kent Shipley to put our documents in order. Review #3759

The staff member I normally worked retired due to illness last year and the quality of work since her retirement has suffered. My first inkling of this was during our initial meeting to discuss our 2013 tax return. I asked our new CPA a (I thought) fairly simple question on 1098s. She said she didn't know. So, while my husband continued to walk through our papers with her, I googled my question, got to the IRS website and gave my CPA the answer to my question. I should have left then. Our return was prepared quickly and sent to us for signature. Something seemed amiss and I emailed the unsigned return BACK to the firm. "I don't see the loss due to the sale of our rental property on here," I put in an email. Later the same day I got a response that "Oooops! We've got that in there now. Sorry!" Me catching this omission increased our refund by $3,000.00. One might think the unprofessional service ended there. Nope. So my husband & I signed the return, attached a $540 check for services and dropped it all off at the office. When handing us back our original receipts, the woman at the desk said "Oh, yeah. We also have this for you." We were STUNNED to see that our 2010 and 2011 amended returns - which we discussed at length two years ago- had sat, untouched, since then. "You owe $1,700.00. We don't know why this has sat around so long. Sign here and we'll get them filed," the woman said. My husband snatched up all of the papers and said "I do not trust you to touch my taxes. I'll take them elsewhere." We left. A few hours later our CPA called. I am sure it was a difficult call to make and I am appreciative she did call. "I reviewed the 2010 and 2011 amended returns and there is an error. You don't owe $1,700-- you owe half that." Good grief! I understand that loosing a long-term staff member is hard on a small firm. But that is their internal problem, not mine.
