Ms. Judy Johnson neglected to inform me of a particular business tax form that was required to be filed and as a result, her negligence cost me nearly $1000 in fees and penalties. Hoping the issue could be resolved, I was expecting responsibility and accountability instead I received a response of avoidance and dishonesty, " I can't remember and I am retiring," later discovering she was still working in the office. When I addressed the behavior with the owner Ms. Darlene Kittredge, she also attempted to avoid any accountability by deflection- shifting blame onto me. Ms. Kittredge lacked any moral reasoning in serving public interest having no ability to be honest and no consideration with competence or quality of service. If you choose to retrain services at this firm, I STRONGLY recommend you require a written document/agreement if a mistake is made by their firm omitting/neglecting to provide valuable tax information/filing necessary tax forms etc., THEY assume liability for fees and penalties. Refusal/reluctance of this reasonable request, you have your answer for expectations of professional accountability. All too often we assume the accounting firm we choose will conduct themselves in a professional and honest manner upholding their CPA Code of Professional Conduct- professionalism, integrity, public interest, responsibility and due care. Unfortunately, at Kittredge & Zehner the behavior I experienced was well below these standards. 1
