Fifth Third has the worst customer service on the planet.  Saturday I ordered a pizza over an app…read moreand accidently put carryout instead of delivery so they voided it and tried to recharge my card for delivery but 5th 3rd decided I was a fraud and blocked my account.  I tried to call customer service but was told "Chelsi is a girls name and you are a man so you have to come in".  I'm not a man but thanks for being super rude.  So I spent ALL weekend without money because of this dumb situation. The lady in the bank, Gwen Mccarthy, was helpful at first but once she had us enter her office she wasn't quite as kind.  She kept talking to my husband instead of me and said "we" weren't cooperative.  When I tried to talk she told me to calm down when in that moment I was calm.  A bit of advice, don't tell someone with anxiety and a panic disorder to calm down.  Don't do it.  Also when I had mentioned we had been there an hour, she said she been too.  Well duh, it's your job!  Then she got so upset that she left the room, while she left her phone which was on hold for us.  After an hour and a half SHE got hostile and gave up. The only helpful thing was when Lisa the manager was called in.  She was able to get it done and was the only reason I got access to my money.  So thank you Lisa.  Everyone else was terrible. So I wasted two hours of my life to close my account and never have to deal with them again. Unfortunately they screwed up and never closed my account. So 5 days later my check went to them instead so I have to go another weekend without money. Thanks Fifth Third for this bull crap.

I will say don't bank with them. They are awful. So I work for a business that pays me daily. Maybe 3 to five times a week. So I deposit checks in the atm from the same business a few times a week and I have for months and months. Usually this sort of consistent check depositing from the same business leads to the bank directly depositing the money into your account and it being available. Not with 5/3. It's Sunday night I deposited a check Friday night and two more tonight. They have cleared a portion of one check. No part of the other two. It's just amazing. This bank gives me the impression that it not only does not have any faith in me but none in the company that I work for. Why I don't close this account and move on to a different bank is beyond me. But I will say to anyone looking for a new bank. Steer clear of this place. They're banking practices are unethical, I try not to speak to anyone directly because it leads to frustration, the only time I actually talk to someone aside from a teller is when I am beet red with anger. I signed up for over draft protection and one week later I got two overdraft charges. I have a saving account that I can only put money into. There is no way to access the funds. I have banked with other banks in the past and when something happens and there may be an overdraft the protection transfers the money from your saving to checking to cover the insufficiency. This is not how 5/3 works. My savings account was not touched and they just tacked of some overdraft charges. Thanks. The way you protect me and my money 5/3rd is unique. I work in customer service and I do things a little different. I would love to talk to someone, but I just cannot get someone to address my concerns that does lead me to being confused, feeling like I am to blame for their incompetence, and absolutely frustrated. So I just communicate via the computer or my phone.
