Absolutely 100%. The service provided is top notch. They do all types of returns from your simplest to your complicated entity returns. Quality is always priority and is offered at an excellent value, especially for your more complicated returns. They are reasonably and competitively priced and lower than other places. 5 stars for customer service and tax professionalism. If you need to file your taxes, don't hesitate coming to this location. Everyone was on the ball. We were first-time customers, so glad we went to this location. The tax service that we received was so professional. Met with Jessie Fang and we were so impressed with her knowledge and helpfulness. Jessie made it so easy for us walking us through each step and being able to review our information with each step. She made us feel so confident with H&R and their processes, it was really impressive when we finished. We had never hired a professional before so we were skeptical. We're so happy with their service we booked a tax appointment for 2027! Thank you Jessie and Jackie for your help. Roberto and Connie read more

Bad service, don't know how to do customer service, I'm talking about front end Jessica. I was trying to make a payment via their machine and suddenly froze. Which I understand it's just technical issue. I met my tax preparer on Monday around 3.30 PM. And I paid with my credit card which most financial institution follows Easter time equals to 6.30 pm. My credit card transaction history stated as pending means they charge it to my account but still in process! Because all bank mostly needs 3-5 business days to be posted on their account however money taken out from my side which may or may not be posted. So what we have to do just wait. I sent her the screenshot to her work email as proof that money taken out. Wednesday I received a call from Jessica she said back office needs proof that I paid and she mentioned HR block will not file my tax since there is no payment collected! Like seriously money has been taken out from my account as well and I need to wait until financial institutions cleared that. I'm waiting for it and how bout HR Block waiting as well cause it's not up to me not in my control when the payment will be posted. She still insisted there's no payment therefore we won't filled your documents! Seriously! Have a better communication skills to talk to people. It is not your fault the system just stopped working and creates this faulty and what for you talk to me in some tones that like I just want to run away not pay the fees. Midnight the payment posted and I tried to reach her out and she didn't want to pick up the phone call and transfer my call to my tax preparer. My tax consultant Luz asking me what happened and she even mentioned we need to file your tax still. I call customer service 1-800 they even mentioned we need to file your tax still, so what makes her keep mentioning "we will not file your tax" Luz was nice but front end just messed up. One time I made a phone call and asked her to leave a message to Luz. She said yes. She did not even ask what my name until I asked her, do you know my name? She replied Linda. I said that's not my name. She said that's what on file without even bother try to correct my name. Not again read more

Fast, quick, friendly service during tax time. I received a copy of my eFiled tax return right then and there. I didn't have to go back. I recommend this business. read more

I've always had a thing against tax places due to my childhood of sitting there for hours while my parents sort their taxes. And now that i'm an adult it gives me even more anxiety BUT i'm so glad i met LUZ . Not only was she polite and sweet she was very informative and thorough in inputting all my info and was patient with ALL the questions I may have as a "new" adult doing taxes. The tax prices are somewhat reasonable. I didn't know this but i decided to try it for fun but they do offer tax identity protection and monitoring and tax representation incase your filing goes under audit. the tax identity can scan the webs for your personal info to make sure nothings compromised and gets flagged if it does. it ties in with the app they have where you can easily access your filed taxes as well if you opt for it (do it ! ) They might also give a first timer discount as well if you're new to HR block. Def inquire about it Parking: it's near the popeyes and across the chase on atlantic and valley. there's back parking but parking in front is def easier just not during peak times bring your w2 and 1099 or 1095 and any itemized items prior to your appontment and organize them to be more efficient read more

I know that H&R Block usually delivers quality service and takes care of you on the tax return side of things but I gotta say the real MVP in my book is Jan McFarlane. Although I came in a mess with my tax returns from different places and my school and financial aid stuff was all over the place. She was patient with me and helped figure out the best return I could get. She really broke down the science and the math on what would be the most beneficial options for me. I like that she not only got me a great return but she also explained everything to me in the best way possible. I would recommend this branch and especially Jan. read more

I want to thank Jan Mc Farlane for her time, effort and patience with me... Because my tax return which involves legal documentation, she has taken her time to review everything and to make sure it is done and input it correctly in that matter... She spent an amount of time to also amend my 2018 and 2019 previous tax return this year, which I have requested Jan Mc. Farlane if she was able to do it for me... She gave me valuable information an attached statement if I need to ever submitted to IRS... I have requested her to be my advocate. I admired her professionalism when she went over it thoroughly. Jan Mc Farlane is very detailed, organized... she will break down each individual item... she put everything neatly, remind me what I need to do for my next follow up appointment... I am happy I got my maximum refund on my tax return, which I didn't get before from my previous tax payer, apparently it wasn't itemized correctly ... I'm glad I spoke with Jan McFarlane before I schedule my appointment with her... I will definitely recommend Mrs. Mc. Farlane to do your tax return... she will answers all to your questions, concerns and she will break it down everything you chooses to itemized... She will get into all the details thoroughly so you understand what you are getting back... Thank you Jan McFarlane. I am satisfied with all of my tax return this year. read more

I have a more complicated tax return, W-2, 1099, mortgage, stocks, crypto etc. Jan took her take with me and walked me through the entire process. Even manually inputted each of my cyrpto transactions, this is something none of my previous tax advisors had done. When I mentioned I may have roll over solar panel credits, Jan went through my past 3 years tax return and found unclaimed credits, an additional $4000+ refund. Very happy with the service. read more

Taxes. Who likes doing taxes? Not me. I have always done my own. But this year I had taken some money out of my 401k, no penalty, and I had taxes taken out of the total, but I knew there would be some new issues on my taxes so I figured I should go see someone to help. Jan McFarlane. Remember that name. Write it down. I made an appt. and went in with all my papers in hand. As it turned out I had a pretty hefty amount that will need to be paid. I'm ashamed to say I wasn't very pleasant at hearing the news. I mean, I didn't throw anything...lol...but it wasn't my best day as a fellow human. At EVERY turn, Jan was patient, professional, had the answers to all my questions, she was VERY organized and understood my frustration. Even as I was fraying, she didn't waiver in her desire to continue to help me and lead me thru the issues she knew I needed to know to move forward. She gave me tips for next year, made phone calls to the state franchise tax board - twice - on my behalf. She did "look-backs" on my taxes for 3 years looking for extra money for me. She did a BOATLOAD of paperwork. Gave it all to me in separate folders, dated, labeled and ready for me to submit to the IRS and State. She went over everything she had done, and why. The only thing left was to go over MY missteps and make sure I don't repeat them going forward. Sometimes frustration is having no one to blame but yourself.... Whatever your issues are with your taxes, it is best to see a professional to help with the process. This I now know to be true. Thank you Jan. smiles.... I couldn't be more pleased with my visit to her office. I may not have liked the bottom line, but I was very pleased with the messenger. Give her a call....and do it sooner than later....for your own peace of mind. read more

I first tried to use TurboTax online to do my taxes (my first time using it) and the results i got from doing it myself weren't NEAR as good as coming to the H&R Block here in Alhambra. I had gotten a $505 refund from doing turbotax, but something told me that I didn't do my own taxes right. So I setup an appointment with Jan Mcfarlane here and the result of that was coming out with a tax refund of over $1000 dollars! She totally did a great job with my taxes and saved me over $600! I couldn't believe it. Today was my first time going to H&R Block and I totally recommend coming here for doing your taxes as the staff are very friendly and provide a great service! I plan on coming back to H&R Block again next year as well! read more

I've been going to H&R Block for my annual tax return preparation services. Its always been a great experience for me and they've always provided an excellent service. However, it's my first time in this location and I have to say, Jan McFarlane is one of the best tax specialists I've ever met. She's extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and provides a very valuable insight. Highly recommended. read more

It was my first time doing my taxes, that said I had 3 W-2's from 3 different years to file... (I know, pretty bad) but Andy really made it fast, easy, and simple. Literally. I was out of there in less than an hour and a half. I walked in knowing absolutely nothing and expecting the worse. But thanks to him he made me feel comfortable and well taken care of. He even helped me step by step of what it'll take to start a tax process for my own business and gave me some good advice as well. I really appreciate someone who takes the time to try and help without seeming like they hate their job now a days. So if you're debating whether to file your taxes here, do it. And ask for Andy Rodriguez. Trust me. I never write reviews on yelp either so that kinda says something too... read more

I am an international student from India who is working and studying in the U.S. I was in California for one month of training. I went to H&R Block for my tax filing. I met with an agent named Jan McFarlane. I would say she was such a wonderful woman. She helped me get my Lifetime Learning Credit for education expenses -- that I didn't even know I could get a credit for. She had such a wonderful heart that I went for an appointment at 8:30 p.m., and the office was supposed to close at 9 p.m., but she sat all the way through and completed the return for me even after the office closed. I really appreciate it. In addition to that, she helped one of my friends who filed his return in another state to solve a problem on his tax return, also. If you are around Alhambra, I would highly recommend you to visit H&R Block on 945 W. Valley Blvd. read more

Jan McFarlane has been my go-to tax expert for three years. She is extremely knowledgeable, professional, warm and genuinely caring. The first time I met her, my previous preparer had me owing $3,000--Jan reviewed what had been done, started from scratch, and when she was finished, not only did I not owe $3K but she got me almost that amount AS A REFUND! She is an unequivocal expert, as close as I'll ever get to having my own CPA. Seriously. Jan leaves no stone unturned and will not rest until she's found every possible deduction. I couldn't be more thrilled with her and have recommended her to friends and relatives alike. In my 30+ years of filing taxes, Jan McFarlane is head-and-shoulders above the rest. read more

I had an excellent experience with H&R Block! Having taken Accounting Tax courses in college, I have a general understanding of Individual Tax Laws, and so I've been confident and content in using HR Online tax services since 2011 to file my taxes. I had a unique filing issue with my 2015 online state tax return. I figured that I would walk into a branch office for advice. Tax expert Jan McFarlane solved the issue and got my corrected forms all filled out and mail prepped at no additional charge! She showed tremendous patience and concern for ensuring that HR block delivered on their services 100%, and that I received my full refund. I can definitely testify that Jan and the HR Block team aren't trying to pressure clients to choose the highest cost products, but rather to recommend if and what HR block service would fit a customer's particular situation. If you only have W2 income and rent, you may want to choose the online HR Block. If you are self-employed, own a home, have various income investments, or if this is your first experience with any kind of tax return, I highly recommend to invest in a tax expert and ask for Jan McFarlane at HR Block. If this is your first time, but your return is simple, she will not only complete your return, but also teach you how to finish it on your own the following year if your tax situation is simple enough. She will ensure you purse the best long term, cost effective tax strategy, even if it's not with her. read more
