I have a confession: I'm a H&M addict. It's really weird, as about 10 years ago, it wouldn't have even been on my radar, but nowadays, H&M are my jam. There's still a certain amount of the clothing that isn't for me -- for example, I can't stand the tees and tops with slogans on. I don't know why they do that, except that perhaps teenagers feel the need to express a degree of forced cool with "Paris is never a bad idea!" or whatever. That said, I feel certain teenagers these days are more savvy than to let H&M put words in their mouths, right? Anyway. I don't care for their floral offerings neither.
However, this shop -- and I don't know why this one over the Briggate incarnation -- always has something (okay, many things) that I wish to buy. I think it's because the nineties, slightly gothic, slightly not too girly collection is always really easy to find. I love the dark grey stone wash jeans. I love the baggy long dresses. I do love that they've started a clothing bank so you can donate your old rags for a good cause -- even if they're not H&M. (Who remembers to bring clothes when shopping, though?)
I don't know if it's a problem that I'm now in my thirties and I shop here, but who cares? I dig the style right now. Staff are decent and I like the way the upstairs leads easily into Trinity. (Albeit, dangerously close to Primarni, which means a spend thrift is always on the cards.) I always find this shop to be more pleasing than the others in the city. read more
