Hello clothes so stylish it almost makes me sick.
I absolutely love the threads here. Let that be declared from day one. Local designers will be pleased to hear that I don't think they're quite up there with Each To Their Own boutique's offerings (gwan Yorkshire) but there's really something about the style here that captures me. Which is a real shame because buying clothes definitely does not make you happy, even if there's a buzz after the initial purchase, and at around £100-200 a pop, that buzz better be worth it. Or last. Etc.
If money were no thing, I'd express myself head-to-toe in this kind of garb. Thing stark leathers, Victoriana chic meets t-shirt trash, and medieval mayhem plastered over David Bowie. I need those golden, luxurious pleats, those frilly Edwardian jackets, those baggy t-shirt dresses.
However -- let me tell you -- the three-star rating is because I adore the design, but in practice, I'm disappointed. The staff are fine -- perhaps a little over keen to make a sale, but I respect that since I bet it's tough to given how pricey it all is. And that's why three stars: When I did finally decide to splash out and buy a coat -- £200 in the SALE -- within four wears almost all of the buttons had come loose and come off.
You're damn right I saved them (they're probably worth a tenner each at least) but I just think it's unacceptable that I could spend that much money and the buttons haven't even been sewn on properly/securely. The coat itself is beautiful -- nautical at the front and pirate at the back -- so there are no complaints there. Fortunately, the rest of it seems well-tailored. Normally I guess I wouldn't quibble so much over buttons, but I think you'll probably see my point.
So -- summary. Gorgeous clothing. Friendly, fun staff. Great shop. (The location and lay out is really cool.) Just watch out if you're making a spend -- give the garment a once over! read more
