I was in Birkenhead- and from past experiences buying gifts I knew I had a limited option based on my age bracket this time. As I walked past Cheapskates I kind of had to do a double take, it didn't take me long after that to sprint in and check out what was at the front entrance. It took me less than 10 minutes to decide on two beautiful tops and I was happy that I had resolved my present issue. The outlet store, has some really cool clothing for sale, and shoes and accessories including boards to skate, backpacks for school, work or the gym too. Very helpful young guy who knew his style working the counter, was chatty and a good laugh. If you have teens in the family, they will be well impressed with this cool store.

But apparently it's now here to stay and I certainly am not complaining. When I stumbled upon it last week the $20 rack right in front of the door was fully stocked with awesome things! I snagged myself two tops from it and rushed into the back room to try them on. The dressing room was pretty much that... a back room with a little stand up mirror propped against a chair. But hey it did the job - and more importantly the clothes looked great. I then spent a good 20 minutes deciding which pair of shoes I was going to buy. They were only $40 each so in hindsight I regret not getting them both. The store also had a ton of dresses at only $50 each, summer shorts, menswear and hats. There was also the odd skateboard lying around and plenty of shoes! I was so happy to stumble upon this place. From outside it doesn't look like much but inside it's a treasure trove.

It's kind of off the beaten track, behind Rialto cinemas in that little area on Kent Street that seems to be growing more and more popular by the day. It's standalone and the layout of the store is quite nice. They stock similar things to MADE - notably APC. They also do Karen Walker, Standard Issue, House of Holland eyewear, etc. There's men's and women's clothes and accessories, and as well as new, they stock some vintage. The staff were nice, friendly without being overbearing. I tried on a few things, walked out with a pair of really stonewashed 90s Levi's. I'd say the store fits somewhere inbetween Area 51/Black Box and Fabric in terms of prices and brands. My fashion/shopping expert friends thought I should give the place three stars but I think it's a bit above 60%, and extra points because I bought something. Worth a visit.

This is a brand new store which is part of the new street complex in Newmarket. It's a really lovely place, laid out beautifully and stocks labels such as Status Anxiety, Louis Vuitton, APC and Karen Walker as well as boasting a pretty awesome vintage section! Their prices were really reasonable and that is what I loved so much about this place, they hadn't conformed to the Newmarket trend and overpriced everything. I purchased a lovely leather bag for only $150 which I though was a real bargain, as well as one of Karen Walker's new season key-rings for only $29! The two staff working there was so nice to talk to and I felt really comfortable with them, not looked down upon which is sadly common in upmarket boutiques. I knew instantly that I had found my new favourite shop and I'm probably going to have to go back tomorrow and get those boots....yay!

I found items from Boohoo with the tags still attached. The items are in very good condition. Of course like many of the locations in NZ there aren't many people asking if you need help finding something or help with anything, but you can always ask a cashier at the front. There were only two checkouts, but if you shop there as soon as the doors open as I do, you shouldn't have any issues or experience long lines. The prices were fantastic in my opinion. The only thing I didn't see much of were belts, hats, purses or shoes, but this is the beginning of the year so I am sure there are loads of new stock. Don't take my word for it. And to be honest I forgot to look at what other 'Things' she sold! I did not have much time so I simply admired all the shoes collection - particularly the boots! - mostly heeled and many were unique, I have been a bit put off by the generic ones I am seeing everywhere in the department stores or cheap shoes outlets where I usually go simply because that is all the budget will allow But, having said that, I think it is wise to buy a few good quality shoes, it is worth it in the long run, for the sake of your health and the sake of the shoe lasting; I recall some cheap flats I bought last winter and had only worn them for one day when the shoes and I got caught in a down pour - and they fell apart straight after that, parting is such sweet sorrow...

They have all the standard souvenirs you'd expect, like sheepskin products, all the kitschy NZ themed stuff, stationery, etched glass things and a wide range of the standard and bulk sizes of nutritional supplements (royal jelly, placenta, bee pollen, manuka honey etc) and the matching skincare. They also stock the Ugg Boots range, and for $379 you can get yourself a pretty outrageous pair of sequined Ugg Boots. I don't understand the pricing on these, but if that's your thing, this is where you get them! They also have the Ugg baby range, which are actually quite cute little bootie shoes and things, but I couldn't justify spending $100 on a pair of baby shoes that would fit for about 2 weeks.

In a stroke of genius, the coat hangers are marked with what sizes are available, instead of chaotic racks and cluttered shelves. Already they are stocked with some great Autumn/ Winter numbers, especially shirts from the Italian Poggianti brand. The staff member was so astute, and yet casual in his demeanor, I couldn't fault him. I forgot we had service like that in menswear stores in Auckland. Well worth the short walk from Queen St to experience the premium fashion of this exceptional little store.
