The taps are clean and everything is very well-poured. The bar itself is also a very pleasant space, with a large indoor/outdoor area that opens onto the street at the front (smoking permitted), and an airy, high-ceiling interior, more reminiscent of a German beer-hall than a brasserie. Great bottles and interesting glassware in cases are the primary decorations. The crowd is a mix of regulars, locals, young people, with a smattering of tourists (though most are across the canal). Service is friendly and helpful. It's also quite spacious, with plenty of tables and seats, so would be good to bring a group of friends. The prices are excellent--3.50 Euros for a delicious glass of Belgian draft can't be beat!

Other groups sat around us and got their orders taken, but the server wouldn't even look our way. Every time they came to take another group's order or serve them, we were completely ignored. We stumbled upon this place rather by accident, but the warmth of the owner, a young man named Gildas became one of our best memories in Nantes. He took the time to share his knowledge of local wines, the culture, the places to go, and other restaurants. Food is typically French and I mean that in the best of ways: local game, seafood and vegetables grown locally. A celebration of simple and good and well prepared. Lunch is busy, so try to come a bit early. Not serving dinner, but do come later for a bottle of wine or drinks before dinner at one of the nearby restaurants. And you may purchase wine here.
