The location worked very well, close to both the train station and the historic center of the city. We enjoyed the included breakfast (cereals, breads, cheeses, meats, fruit, yogurt, etc.) and were grateful to have had the opportunity to do our laundry. The only thing that could have been better is the comfort level of the beds - they were a little stiff.

I can honestly say that this hotel was my welcome traveler's escape from Paris to Montpelier. The bathroom was immaculate. The water, always hot. The shower was as clean as a whistle. The bed was huge and utterly snuggly and comfortable. Room service was helpful and very accommodating with our requests. The ladies that tidied up our room were so friendly and interested in where we were coming from. I was equally interested. They came from all over. Madagascar (Edwage, my favorite), Spain, and Africa. The young girl that attended to the breakfast buffet had a permanent smile and sweet demeanor. It was nice to wake up to that each morning. Speaking of breakfast.. .filling and fresh. Hard boiled eggs, cheeses, croissants, baguettes, an array of ham and prosciutto, pickles, fresh juices, coffee, teas, and ice cold water. Our stay here was perfect. I would certainly come back.

Just getting to the parking garage requires a walk to the reception desk, which is, of course, is not streetside, then walk back to your car. The room safe wasn't working. Trip to reception. Gentleman couldn't repair, had to make a second trip to replace. He did bring some chocolate cookies as a treat... My profile requires feather free pillows...back to reception to ask. Room has no ice bucket...back to reception again. The "restaurant" or Bistro offers three items. Burger, Salmon or a salad with grilled chicken. It's massive and looks like a real restaurant. Fooled again! Nothing like a USA Courtyard menu. Unlike every stateside Courtyard there is no place to BYO food and wine. No common seating area outside the "restaurant ". You cannot BYO into the restaurant either. The staff was helpful so it gets a third star, but put to shame by the two Best Westerns we enjoyed on our trip along the Mediterranean.

Treated us like long lost friends!! Our room was gorgeous and upgraded since we are Lifetime Titanium Elite Marriott members. Linens were superb and lovely bathroom stocked with great towels and nice toiletries. Very comfortable. Also we had asked for help with dinner plans. The young man suggested their own restaurant for dinner as weather was horrible outside with a lot of rain. He made reservations for us which was very nice of him. Dinner was at 19:30. We were greeted by a group of nice men. Waited on promptly. We speak no French but the servers all spoke very good English. We both started with a soup, French Onion for my husband and butternut squash for me (9€ each). Both were very tasty and served with organic breads. (Sorry no photos) Our mains was salmon with risotto and mushrooms (23€) for husband and the vegetarian plate (16€) for me. Salmon was moist and a large cut. All cooked to perfection. Timing between soup and mains was very nice. Overall SURPRISINGLY good for a restaurant attached to a hotel!

Note: The rooms were renovated and decorated in the past 5+ years. If you see old photos (10+years) posted on yelp, they are not representative of the current beautiful rooms. PROS: - Simon is an awesome manager (and relatively new owner of the hotel), he speaks excellent English, he helped us with late check-in and showed us to our room, gave us suggestions of good food nearby, and directed us to the train station Gare St Roch (5 min walk or less). Thanks Simon! - EXCELLENT location, just steps away from all the activity in Montpellier - Each room is unique and ours was super gorgeous - fancy extra jets in the shower and fancy soap - nice AC for our summer visit! "CONS": - stairs only, no elevator (stairs are typical with boutique hotels) - if you plan to drive, be prepared for tight streets and extremely limited street parking-- you're better off not driving (this is not a "con" of the hotel, but rather a "con" of portions of Montpellier You won't be disappointed with a visit to Hotel D'Aragon!

The property is tucked away and it's not 100% clear where you need to go to check in. It is close to a tram stop, so walking with luggage isn't difficult. Rooms: My students were in doubles and those were tight. The AC was also not turned on yet and it got hot. I was in the 1st floor ADA room which was HUGE. I felt bad since I didn't need the those accommodations. So, it was far more spacious than my other rooms. Again, there needs to be more outlets, especially in the bathroom. The bathroom was fine except there was no curtain or anything to block the view. The toilet faced the window and the shower was in the open. I'm sure it met the needs for ADA but it was weird just looking out of the bathroom like that. Shower pressure was ok but water went everywhere. Plenty of storage in the room. Nice desk area too. The window opens which helps to get circulation. EXCEPT when people smoke right outside or above you and then that's all you smell. Breakfast/Restaurant: The best of the whole week. Lots of variety for breakfast. Prompt service and tasty food for dinner. Very popular. The front desk was kind enough to hold all our bags after checkout since our train didn't leave till late at night.
