Open gym is a winter time saving grace. This is two hours of play time on huge trampolines, a foam pit, a huge floor, a bunch of traditional gymnastics equipment. Kids are safe to play under the careful watch of instructors. The instructors are keen on the rules and very attentive. I have also notice attendance is capped to prevent chaos. Going deeper, my crew checked out the classes. WOW. Here priceless confidence building, self esteem, and motorskill development are taught. Oh yes...and gymnastics too!! The classes are taught to constantly to take children to the next level, helping them reach their full potiential. My favorite thing about For the Kidz is that safety and the happiness/safety of the children is the absolute priority here. The kids also have a blast!!! If you've got a little boy who loves jumping on tramps, learning to do flips and all sorts of other things, this is the place. The instructors are extremely nice, and clearly know what they are talking about. They know how to push the kids to do their best, but never yell or get aggressive like you hear about on those gymnastics horror stories. I watch the kids each week from the observation area and I couldn't be happier with the instruction and support they are getting. One last note, this place offers 'day camp' in the summer (basically day care). The kids get to enjoy all the fun of this huge gymnastics center while being watched by the instructors. My kids only went twice this summer, but it was a life saver as far as babysitting goes. The only problem is my kids beg me to let them go every day even though their mom is home to watch them, lol. For all of $5 for the child (and free for accompanying guardian), your little one can spend an entire hour walking on balance beams, jumping into foam pits, bouncing on trampolines, and doing all sorts of things to burn energy. This is particularly appreciated in the MI winter climate when going outdoors often isn't a reasonable option. They do also offer packets of discounted passes - I think it's only $15 for a pack of 5 passes, making it an incredibly reasonable $3 per session. The location can be bit difficult to find, particularly because the building has a parking lot both in front and back. Best to call for specific directions.

We enrolled our 2 children last August. I was a little…read morenervous because they had never taken gymnastics and this place looked like a very serious gym. I was pleased to learn that not only to they welcome all levels of ability but all ages as well. My daughter loves going to her level 2 class with Miss Emma and our son is doing great in his Ninja Zone class which is teaching him all the agility moves you see on Ninja Warrior. R-Athletics has a wide array of times for classes including ones in the evening which works well for working families like ours. It is pricier than say gymnastics at the Kroc center or GR Parks and Rec but the convenience of having evening and weekend classes as well as the ability to make up missed classes compensates for it. The facility is very nice. Divided into 2 gyms with the smaller/beginner classes on one side and the more advanced gymnasts on the larger side. Having a child in a class on each side (at the same time) I like that both sides are viewable from the center waiting area which is furnished with chairs as wells as a play/coloring area for younger siblings. The instructors/staff are all terrific. Supportive and helpful they do their jobs while ensuring that our kids are having fun and staying safe. Towards the end of the 8 week session you get a written evaluation on the progress your child is making and what they need to work on to advance to the next level. Sessions are 8 weeks but you can start at any time and it will be pro-rated for you.

BEWARE - I had two daughters involved with Cheer Co, first for half year then both for the full…read moreyear program... I initially chose not to enroll in full year due to the schedule requirements knowing we couldn't fulfil the commitment and I planned to wait for half year. Laura the owner emailed me letting me know that they needed a couple more girls and that they would work with our schedule. So I said well, I am willing to pay and invest in my girls as long as they get a positive experience, shortly after they advised me they would be moving my girls to half year (after I paid for full)... The vibe and goal of this company is only money driven, I personally do not believe they care about the girls growth and experience, its all about the bank deposit and meeting numbers. Everyone is different so you may LOVE the style and vide. My advice is to a new potential customer thinking about joining is, DO NOT SIGN their contract without experiencing for yourself. Ask for an initial 60-90 day agreement... They don't care, they lock you in and treat you like garbage the second you sign the 1 year agreement (as long as your money is going into their bank account they could care less). We are so bruised by this experience my girls (ages 9) who have been in competition cheer for 3+ years are taking a break. Quote "mom, we don't ever want to go back there again".
