It's been awhile since I've been in the area but my first stop was Gwendy's. The place has always had a warm friendly atmosphere with great bakery items! I have never had a bad thing here. I recently saw a customer complaining about the brownies and I'm not quite sure where she got hers because I can assure you it wasn't from here. The brownies here are to some of the best I've had. The sticky buns, cinnamon rolls and cheese straws are simply fabulous. Gwen and her staff are more than accommodating when it comes to service, friendliness and quality baked goods. We visit Gwendy's several times a year when we are in town visiting family. It has become our favorite place to stop in when we are in Ayden.Outside of the amazing baked goods...the cheddar chive scones and cheese straws are my favorite...it is a warm and inviting place to be. We just love this place. The baked goods are fresh and delicious, especially love the cinamon buns and peanut butter cupcakes. They sell locally roasted coffee, it's great and I love that it is local. As I am not from the area, I often have cookies shipped to friends and family from her website. Fantastic bakery! The goodies are all made from scratch and the staff is incredibly friendly. I always love coming and getting something sweet. I got two of the specialty cupcakes for my boyfriend one time and he couldn't stop raving about them. I would recommend the ooey gooey bars those are a personal favorite. This is our ABSOLUTELY favorite bakery in town. We find ourselves here weekly for goodies. Our all time favorite is Gwendy's cheese cream brownies. They are just as moist on day 1 as they are on day 3 or 4 if they even last that long. Her eclairs are delicious. Cupcakes are as well.... Got a box of assorted cookies for my birthday from Gwendy's, and they were absolutely delicious! They were shipped in two days, arrived as fresh as could be and the packaging was incredible. I've received crystal glass wear from Target that wasn't packaged as good as those cookies were! I would recommend Gwendy's to anyone who appreciates good cookies and top notch service! read more

Gwendy makes special sourcream pound cakes for my wife's birthday........they are amazing. I just told my wife that I look forward to her birthday as to justify the delicious cake. Gwendy and all of her staff some of the nicest people I have ever met. They are always attentive, kind and caring! I especially love all of her cupcakes.
