She was so kind! I thought I just needed my dress (for my son's wedding) hemmed. However, when I tried it on the owner was showing me how the top hung low under my arms. Long story short, when I picked it up, the dress fit like it was made for me!! And I could not believe the price! Very affordable and very timely! I had plenty of time, however our daughter who lives in Charlotte is also in the wedding. We went in the morning for a fitting, and she had the top completed the same evening! This was literally the ONLY alterations place that would take my unique order a few years back. I had a polyester jacket that was made to feel and look like a vintage military bomber jacket, I wanted my grandpas Navy patches SEWN onto the entire jacket. Every place in a 20+ mile radius turned me down because they said they couldn't work with the fabric or sew the patches or whatever other excuses there were, but Gwendolyn's took it in with absolutely no issue and when I got the jacket back it look like it was MADE with the patches already on there. I have tried many other alteration services in my lifetime, but after finding Gwendolyn's 7 years ago, I will not go anywhere else - ever! No one compares to the quality of the finished product like Gwendolyn's. I have taken $1,000 dresses to them (metal overlay fabrics and even multi-tied ballgown) and every time the finished results are PERFECT!!!! Fantastic tailor. I have a unique shirt size as I have an athletic build where even slim fit shirts need to be tapered quite a bit given I have an 18" neck. Luciana does an amazing job every time and her cost is half that of Nordstrom (and the quality is even better). Great find. Please note the pandemic has shrunk her staff so things take a little longer but it's worth the wait. Talk with her on timing as she will always work with you when you have a real need. read more

Gwendolyn's is the best place by far !!!! My granddaughter was a flower girl in a wedding, and the dress that was made for her from a dress maker was way to small when we received it, and the wedding was only 4 days away. I called Gwendolyn's and she said bring it in, they put the dress on my granddaughter, and seen that there was no way that it was going to fit her. She said that they could fix it and have it ready by Friday. Well I dropped it off on Tuesday, and they had fixed it by Wednesday. I didn't think it could be done, but Gwendolyn proved me wrong. These ladies are amazing and very reasonable in price. I am so glad I found them, will never go anywhere else for sewing or alterations, just amazing. I originally chose this place because of all the great reviews on Yelp. It totally lived up to the hype. My previous place had closed so I needed a place to get the bridesmaid dress from my brother's wedding fixed since I was wearing it to my cousin's wedding. A total walk in, I barely had to wait and she ended up working on my dress right on the spot. When I asked her how much it cost, she said it would be done for free. That was awesome! Gwendolyn's saved the day! My oldest daughter's wedding is in 5 days and we were struggling to get her sister/maid of honor's dress zipped. It was clear something was wrong with the zipper. Stopped in at Gwendolyn's today and showed them the dress! She immediately identified the problem and told me to come back later in the afternoon. She moved the zipper a little and when we took it home it zipped up with no problem! Now we can relax a little and enjoy the last few days of wedding preparation without worrying about zippers! They were definitely busy and I appreciate so much her willingness to help us out in a pinch! read more
