The food was just ok , poor service . If I compare , Gusto is 3 out of 10 , Pizza express is 9 out of 10 . Definitely won't go there any more , the only point is Beautiful view .

I recently worked with a guy who would not stop going on about this place. He talked about it so much and suggested it to clients so often I suspected that he must have shares in the place. The fact that he was a tit meant that I came here with a pretty biased point of view but one that was quickly dismissed. A little cheaper than I was expecting, Gusto nonetheless offers a good selection of Italian/Mediterranean influenced food. The pizzas are very good value at the same prices as you would pay for a dominoes but for that real, stone bake quality with much fresher toppings. It's a classy joint too with a simple decor that makes it feel like a posh dining experience, without costing a fortune.

Gusto is a great Italian restaurant on the dock, ideal for a cosy meal for two, or a family evening out. It's the place I go if I fancy something nice but not ridiculously priced. It is usually very popular so I'd always advise booking in advance, but if you do pop in and have to wait, the Pumphouse pub is seconds away. I like the fact that even though it is very busy, the staff aren't rushing you out of your seat, they always welcome you to take your time and enjoy the atmosphere. The food is delicious, I'd recommend the pasta with salmon and vegetables and the espresso and amaretto ice cream. The prices are really decent, the bill for two of us plus two drinks each was only about £40.

Gusto is an Italian restaurant with more class than most if I'm honest which is mainly down to its great location which builds a fantastic ambience. The location within the docks is great and although the prices are bumped up here it is well worth the money you may spend. This is the kind of restaurant you would visit for an important occasion such as a Birthday and I guarantee it would be a treat for all. As with all of the dock area this place is very aesthetically pleasing and has extremely nice decor inside. This is such a relaxing restaurant you can while away the night and feel completely at ease. The staff are fantastic and they demand from each other that the standards are high from one another which results in exceptional service for the customer. On the whole a great classy restaurant which is well worth a visit.

Mushroom risotto w/pancetta. Very tasty and the perfect amount of salt!

I'll be honest...I thought this place would be a tourist trap. Very happy to admit that I was wrong. I came here on a Sunday (Mother's Day), and despite the large crowd, the service was great and the food came out promptly. I had the tiger prawn appetizer which was delicious (almost like a tomato bisque soup with lots of shrimp/prawns). It also came with some toast points which were perfect for dipping. I had the mushroom risotto w/pancetta for my entree and it was excellent. My only (minor) complaint is that I would've like more mushrooms. There was so much pancetta (and I'm not a big meat eater) so I would've traded some for more mushrooms. All in all I would order both dishes again, and I'll definitely be coming back here to eat again!

    Mojito's!

Situated close by to St. Alberts Dock and undecided what cuisine I fancied eating on a Saturday night we plumped for this place. We hadn't booked and although the place was buzzing, we were seated at a table straight away. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the decor is stylish. The waitress who served us was lovely and friendly, and engaged us in conversation about our weekend visit to Liverpool. Anyway back to the food! The food arrived in good time, with the pizza I had ordered being crispy and packed full of toppings - yummy! The mojitos went down rather well too not too much mint in them. This is a great restaurant for couples and large groups, with the restaurant being dimly lit giving it that sophisticated feel. You are able to glance over at the chefs at work in the kitchen too, which all adds to the dining experience. A fab restaurant that impressed me with its food and customer service.

We went there after typical lunching hours and found the place still pretty busy with folks cycling in and out. I heard that the line goes out the door at dinner, so I figured we'd try it out. The huge pane glass window allows ambient light in, then it's classically lit on the inside with yellow lighting to give that Lady and the Tramp effect. :) I ordered one of the daily specials, Risotto Italia, that had diced chicken, slices of ham, onions, mushrooms all in tomato sauce. It was fine, but a little heavy on the sauce. The sauce was good, but it buried the risotto. My dish wasn't nearly as good as Liz's Tortellini Italiana, which came in a meat sauce under baked cheese. The consistency of the crusting cheese was great, and the meat sauce was generous with the meat. We also tried the Bruschetta Tricolor which was a great balance of a caprese salad over a fresh bread and pesto... it was really good. I really enjoyed by visit to Casa Italia. It was very well priced, and I can see why its popular. You get a lot for a little... even with the picodillo (small) portions. Reservations need only be made for groups greater than 6. Give 'er a try!

Because my bf and I weren't familiar with the area, I just googled "gluten-free food" and this restaurant came up and looked pretty positive. By the time we walked there, it was very busy. And so incredibly lucky, as the host said we were the very last walk-ins they could accept, loud with clamour and guests talking over each other. I'm sorry they had to turn away the one other couple behind us, but I was scared too because I wouldn't know where else to get allergy sensitive food. The thing is though, if you do have food allergies here, everyone always tells you that you have to speak up about it every time. I guess I didn't because I always figured I'd just work around my problems. So my host/server always told me I needed to mention that to all the people coming to take my orders. I convinced my boyfriend to try some of the pate -- which came with a piece of gf bread and cucumbers, he didn't like it, but I enjoyed it. It was smooth and creamy -- but also, I felt that I needed more salt as the flavor was semi-bland too. Adding in more salt or pepper isn't really an issue with me, that's why they put those on the table. But bf got some really cheesy lasagna and I got a gluten-free pizza. The crust was thin and had the right texture of chewy-ness and flavor. It was incredibly delicious and delightful. It also took awhile longer, I'm sure the chefs have to be very careful about food contamination, which is why you have to constantly remind servers about your allergies so they can relay it to the back. Which reminds me, by the end of the night, I ordered a basic vanilla gelato. I thought this probably doesn't have any wheat in it! So I ordered it with one of the circulating servers, but our host at the front came over (I wish I remembered his name :( ) came over and took the bowl away because I forgot to tell this server I'm gluten-sensitive. So my bad! But it took so long for the gf gelato to come out. But it was one of the best vanilla gelato's I've ever had. Like nothing compared to any I've tasted in California. I'd definitely recommend this place. Staff was very attentive and food was excellent.

I'm usually a regular at the Albert Dock branch because it's more convenient for me, but I do really like this branch. It's located inside an old bank, which makes you feel like you're getting a side of heritage with your pizza. However, as an addict, I would give up the heritage for aside of garlic dough balls! Obviously, the menu is the same in every Pizza Express but if you're a virgin (unlucky you) I'll advise you on my favourites. Here goes: for a starter I would get the dough balls every time - boring maybe but that way you get some yumminess but still have room for the next two courses! Gem (another Pizza Express addict - maybe they should start up rehabilitation?!!) would always, without fail, pick the bruschetta, which does look delicious but I'm not a huge fan of tomatoes. For the main, we would both have Pollo de Astra on the Romana base (a fancy term for extra extra thin).... it is literally heaven on a 14" plate. Admittedly, I've only had dessert once due to the excess gorging on the starter and the main - once we managed to squeeze in a chocolate fudge sundae type thing which really did finish me off. It was worth it though. Note: if you're going out with a group, or even the two of you, always check the internet for vouchers as you can often get 50% off, or main meals for £1 etc. which really makes a difference to your bank balance!

The entrance to Crust is accessed through a large step and they have no ramps, but the staff assisted with my enterance and they seemed really friendly, wanting to get me in. The menu choice in terms of pizzas was a little poor, to have a range of more basic pizzas such as pepperoni or even a garlic pizza bread. The selection of other foods was decent, however labelling the whole menu could have been better for allergies with gluten-free markings rather than just the pizzas. I was impressed with the fact they do fresh flavoured lemonades with different fruit and flavourings, and although the bottom was a little bland, I did enjoy my mango and passionfruit lemonade which was obviously made fresh, with real fruits at £3.50. For my pizza I ordered a Margarita, the staff cut this up for me and the base was good quality, once again fresh and seasoned well. It would have been nice with more toppings, a better range, however. I did struggle to get a staff members attention during the meal, although all staff (including the manager) seemed nice and very friendly, after being given mayo and tomato sachets I just had to use my own, which is one of the reasons I always bring ketchup and mayo when I go out. The chips were a little bland, but the oil at the bottom made them slightly better, they were once again flaws. Crust is a nice restaurant in Liverpool with competitive pricing and a good gluten-free pizza bases, the main issues being getting into the restaurant, the menu and getting a staff member's attention during my meal but due to good quality, freshness of the food and friendly staff, I would feel a four-star rating is appropriate. UPDATE: Due to an awful recent in-store experience in store, where I was given a pizza containing gluten at first, despite requesting a gluten free one, after already a long wait, after I noticed this and alerted my server, my confidence here went downhill and sadly that was shown in the quality of my second pizza, the base was poor and doughy, the ham was chewy and the whole pizza from base to toppings was sadly a poor, awful mess. With a lack of promotions which larger chains has, this just makes this a place with high-end places for abysmal food, sadly warranting a one-star rating as good (yet overpriced) lemonade can't make up for the "speciality" of this place with the pizzas being so bad, even my friend who isn't gluten free was upset with his chicken pizza.

The portion sizes are good and don't leave you feeling that you've eaten half a whale! In fact I'd go as far to say they are just right. I can polish off three courses no problem. Calamari to start, followed by classic spaghetti carbonara and an excellent creme brûlée to round off the meal. They also have a fantastic cocktail bar which shelves the best pina colada I have ever tasted. You wouldn't want it before a meal though because it is quite heavy and could fill you up quite easily. They do serve a fantastic mojito and a great daiquiri if that's your thing? Now you will have to book to get in here. You'd be very lucky to get a table if you just walk in off the street without a reservation. That to me is a sign of a good restaurant though. Saturday nights are usually rammed as you would expect but I'd still recommend booking a table mid week if your planning to go there? I'd very much recommend this place to anyone who appreciates good Italian food in a fresh vibrant environment and likes a drink or two.
