I had a very, very minor chip on my front tooth, and had asked the other dental office about what we could do. They told me my only option was to have them put some type of filling behind it and match it to my tooth. Being as young as I am I didn't want anything added into my mouth that I'd have to worry about getting discolored or matching my teeth later. I asked them about gently filing down my front teeth to get rid of the chip and even them out, they claimed they "couldn't guarantee" that my teeth would be even. Said it wasn't a good option and the (of course more expensive one) other one was the only option I had..... Fast forward to coming into Yuba City Modern Dentistry last year. I told her about my experience with the out of town dentist and that they told me matching my tooth and filling it in was my only option. She was so kind and empathetic, and assured me she could even out my front teeth and guarantee they would be even. She told me she would show me as she filed to make sure I felt heard and was happy with the results. I was very clear from the start about what I wanted done, and I spoke with this office multiple times beforehand. I was reassured repeatedly that they could take care of me. On the day of my appointment, after taking a full day off work, they told me they had lost my insurance information and had to call for approval while I was already driving to the office. That alone felt unprofessional, but I tried to stay understanding. The front office staff was actually very kind and welcoming, which initially put me at ease. The dental assistant was also friendly, listened to me, took my X-rays, and seemed to fully understand what I was requesting. Unfortunately, everything went downhill when the doctor came in. He was extremely rude, dismissive, and spoke over me the entire time. Despite me clearly explaining that I wanted full top and bottom dentures -- and that I had discussed this plan with other dentists -- he flat-out refused. He insisted on doing top dentures only and pushing root canals and caps on all of my bottom teeth instead, which I clearly stated I did not want. I also explained that my long-term plan was to move to implants within the next two years, which was actually recommended previously by Affordable Dentures in the Roseville Office (they do not accept insurance) . He still refused to listen and repeatedly talked over me. His reasoning was that bottom dentures can be uncomfortable and move -- something I already understood and had accepted. He then said that unless I agreed to his treatment plan, he "wasn't going to waste his time on me." That comment alone was completely inappropriate, unprofessional, and disrespectful. Patients deserve to be heard and treated with respect -- especially when they are informed, clear about their goals, and willing to discuss options. This doctor was none of that. Save yourself the time, frustration, and disrespect. Do not go here.
