My former dentist had to close down her business and referred her patients to River Oaks dental. I…read morecalled them, told them my insurance information no problem. I go in for my appointment to repair a cracked filling from a prior dentist. They told me the fee was $199 so I paid that. A week later I see on my insurance claim that my portion should've only been $154. So I called the dentist and let them know and they said they would refund me the overcharge and confirmed everything in person and on the phone. My next appointment was for my cleaning. Ashley was great and very thorough and probably took the longest out of any cleaning but I take that as a good thing. The next appointment is my full exam with Kovar ( which is not listed as the provider on anything because he's not on their insurance yet apparently so if there is any issue down the road , Dr farr is holding the bag.) I told their staff from the get-go that I'm not doing any additional x-rays because my insurance only covers them every so many years. The taller blonde woman that was doing the x-rays and training somebody at the time told me they need to do them for themselves no matter what and I wouldn't get charged anything because that is their choice against my request. According to them, literally every tooth in my mouth needs some type of filling or redo or new crown, etc. Keep in mind I have been up-to-date on all dental needs since I was a child and have never missed a six month cleaning or exam. News to me that every tooth suddenly needs some correction. My first appointment I was there I was waiting at least 15 to 20 minutes past my appointment. On my second appointment, I was stuck in traffic and arrived exactly 20 minutes late (I have proof on my phone). They made a big deal and exaggerated and kept saying it's 30 minutes but they make people wait that all the time. Fast forward I find out from the insurance company that this particular office is a premier not PPO which nobody ever mentioned anything about when I gave them all of my insurance info and the type it was. which means fillings for me instead of paying 20%, premier dentist charge 30%. Something they never bothered to mention. When I was in the first time they even verified no you should not have a charge for a cleaning yet when I was leaving they were trying to charge me money for it and I said absolutely not I'm not paying that. I had to go in an additional time because the filling that they did in my first appointment, Dr Kovar said there is a void in it and he wants it redone. So I had to waste more of my time coming back for them to drill my tooth out again and refill it. Fast forward and it's been weeks and their business manager or whoever named Jody still has not refunded me the $45 difference from the shoddy filling they did that I overpaid for. Every time I call back to find out what's going on I have to re-explain everything to somebody else there. If you guys don't want to refund $45 I have no problem filing a grievance against your office. By the looks of your reviews you guys are not doing much better for anyone else.

My husband has come here for years so I decided to give it a try, he's only got basic work like cleanings and fillings but said they always hound you to make more apts and get things done. Long story short, I received a 3 1/2 hours long (insane) first apt. Dentist, Dr Kovar said I needed a deep cleaning (I've had these before so seemed standard) and proceeded to say I needed 2 crowns and all my fillings redone. I was a little shocked by the crowns, as I go to the dentist regularly and never was told this by two other dentist offices. I had 0 pain or any issues with any teeth, again just wanting to establish a new dentist closer to home. Fast forward, I ended up being told I had to do crown first when it should have been MY choice, as it's my body. I trusted these people as I am not a dentist and got the crown done. Dentist came in only to numb me and quickly shave my perfectly fine tooth down and to never see him again. After a week I was having pain with the crown and couldn't eat on that side of mouth. Came back so they could look at my bite, again, never saw Dr Kovar. They shaved down the crown and my real tooth on bottom saying that would help. It didn't, and I decided to get a second opinion at a dentist I trust in Roseville. They said I didn't need any crowns and my fillings looked fine! This place just wants to suck your insurance benefits dry and your wallet. I used all my benefits with them, as well as around $500 out of pocket. I ended up having to get a root canal a month later due to having to wait for the new year and insurance to kick in. Definitely do not recommend this place. It's also odd they do not even have this dentist listed on their website but have every other staff in their office listed.

I had a very, very minor chip on my front tooth, and had asked the other dental office about what we could do. They told me my only option was to have them put some type of filling behind it and match it to my tooth. Being as young as I am I didn't want anything added into my mouth that I'd have to worry about getting discolored or matching my teeth later. I asked them about gently filing down my front teeth to get rid of the chip and even them out, they claimed they "couldn't guarantee" that my teeth would be even. Said it wasn't a good option and the (of course more expensive one) other one was the only option I had..... Fast forward to coming into Yuba City Modern Dentistry last year. I told her about my experience with the out of town dentist and that they told me matching my tooth and filling it in was my only option. She was so kind and empathetic, and assured me she could even out my front teeth and guarantee they would be even. She told me she would show me as she filed to make sure I felt heard and was happy with the results. I'm beyond happy with the results, and am more confident with my smile than I was before the minor chip. If you're looking for an honest, fair, and kind dentist, Dr. Sembhi is for you.
