I wish it was possible to give a negative rating, not just the "not good" 1. I was referred to the practice by my general practitioner since I am in NEED of assistance beyond what a family doctor has training. In about 5 weeks all I have had is my INITIAL greeting consultation to see what services I'm in need of. I have reached out themrough the patient portal directly several times, but NO RESPONSES. I went IN PERSON because I had not heard anything from anyone concerning being assigned a therapist and about my coverage provider saying they can't get a response either. Staff turnover at GPW is very high. Like many others, I had overbilling and insurance reimbursement issues. BCBS said it was because of how the practice codes its billing and because of incomplete notes. Made a change last year and am very happy to be seeing someone else. read more

I have been very disappointed with this practice. I started receiving care from GWP and had 3 appointments with providers. I loved the care and attention I received from the providers. I really feel that Dr. Lopez could help me grow and better manage my symptoms. BUT... The day before my 4th appointment office staff discovered that I still have an old out-of-state insurance policy that due to some error in their system cannot be canceled (I have tried). This old policy has not in any way affected any insurance payment from my current plan that ive had for 4 years now. I have a minimum of 5-6 appointments every month with various providers and ONLY THIS PRACTICE HAS AN ISSUE! Staff only tells me that i need to contact that state and resolve the issue on my own. They are refusing to work WITH the client to find a resolution. read more

This business is wild, in over a year of working with them, I have never had an appointment scheduled with me- I just get a notification that a time and date has been chosen despite letting them know dozens of times contacting admin and my provider and them putting it all over my chart that I need to talk to someone to pick a time that works with me, my schedule is not that flexible. In addition to them picking times without checking with me, regardless of whether I've been able to keep the appointment or reschedule for a time that does work, ten out of ten times they contact me within 24 hours to reschedule. Truly I have never had an appointment at the time it was scheduled for. I was supposed to have a meeting at 1:30 today, they wrote me last minute changing my provider to someone I have never met and having us meet at 1:45, and then called me at 1:45 saying they can't see me today and that they're rescheduling me for 7am tomorrow. This is terrible business, I would not recommend this practice. read more

The worst office I have ever dealt with. they have outsourced their phone and email to go overseas. You can't get anyone in billing to call you back. I overpaid by more than $1800 in 2024 because they didnt file my insurance correctly and I can't get anyone to call me back. I've been a patient for 13 years. I hate this office. The only reason I'm still there is bc I like my practitioner. Dr Gupta needs to decide if she's running a trendy mental health boutique or if she's trying to actually help people. read more

Disclaimer: This rating is not a reflection of the customer-facing staff or providers, who have been professional and kind throughout my experience, BUT rather their billing/insurance department. I was referred to GPW in November for medication management and therapy and was initially impressed with how quickly they scheduled me for treatment. However, as my insurance changed from UHC to UHC/Surest in 2025, significant issues arose. Despite both UHC/Surest confirming that GPW is in-network, the clinic has informed me they will not accept my insurance because they have opted out of filing claims with Surest. UHC has stated this issue is not with the insurance but rather with how GPW submits claims to UHC/Surest, because of how complex insurance billing can be. UHC has escalated the matter, offering to guide GPW on resolving the problem and process. Unfortunately, GPW now requires nearly $400 per visit (2x weekly) out of pocket, leaving me no choice but to find another provider. This situation is disappointing and unfair, as GPW is listed as in network but refuses to file claims. It's also a missed opportunity for GPW to serve patients and generate revenue. I hope GPW resolves this issue with UHC and Surest, as it would benefit both their patients and their practice. I am willing to update this review if a resolution is reached. read more

In the entire time i went there (East Raleigh) I had an appointment that stayed when and where it was supposed to be maybe twice. Every other time it was either cancelled, moved to telehealth, or the person moved offices, and I got to learn those changes maybe an hour before the appointment, every single time it happened. Actual healthcare was decent, but almost always 15 minutes late or more. Communication was absolute bull-hockey, and apparently that entire office is just permanently closed now. read more

I have been going to Dr Gupta and her practice for many years and it was wonderful until she started expanding and building more offices.... since then it has been a nightmare. You can't get a refill unless you see somebody every three months and they're charging $175 for 20 minutes on a Zoom call . I'm retired now! With different providers constantly / it's difficult to get an rx. Multiple times I would have to email via the portal to Dr Gupta directly to even get a refill. And there's absolutely nobody to talk to you. You have to go through the portal for everything. Can't even email . I don't have insurance even though my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance portal says that Dr Gupta is covered .....their billing office says nope -and I've called multiple times. I've called the insurance provider. They said they should take their name off of being a provider and they won't take the time to even do that ? Blue Cross Blue Shield advantage Medicare.-I hope somebody sees this and does something about this at their office. I can't believe how much this practice and the providers who used to be wonderful and were there for years has changed..... when I think of the smart , caring , thoughtful NP s that I used to have as my providers there.... I'm so sad ! I have been going there all these years to get help for sleeping and my primary MD is who figures out I need to have gabapentin that pretty high levels and for the first time I'm sleeping like a baby, so sadly, and as much as I liked and respected Dr Gupta .....and I saw her a lot in the beginning years - I won't be going back. read more

Terrible customer service. High staff turn over You can never get an answer to your questions. They continue to expand, but you should not sign up with them. They just want your money. Dr. Gupta is compassionate and caring g. She cares about her patients. Highly recommend her and her staff.

Unfortunately the bad reviews are true. I attended Gupta Psychiatry for several years, as did a few members of my family, and wow. For one, Dr. Gupta's average time with me during an appointment was roughly 60 seconds. Every time she would say, "So, remind me what you do!" and I'd tell her, "I work in research at Duke Psychiatry, just like you did." And she'd go oh my gosh, that's right! So how are you feeling?" And about 20 seconds later, she was on to the next patient. I very much got the feeling that she's a money making, for profit machine rather than someone with an interest in improving her patients' lives. Also worth mentioning that she tried repeatedly to push these herbal supplements called 'Brain Calm' on me, had a sign right by checkout that said, "Glitter is my Prozac!" and shares an office with her husband, a dentist who once told me I had eight cavities and needed fillings for each of them immediately. I got a second opinion the next week and was told I had zero cavities, albeit one 'at risk' spot. Don't visit the Guptas if you can help it. When I switched to another psychiatrist in Durham and mentioned I'd had a bad experience, he said, "It wasn't Gupta Psychiatry, by any chance?" Clearly their reputation precedes them. read more

These 5-star reviews are fake. Look them up on Yelp instead. Make no mistake; this is a very well-run business. But that's exactly how it's run - a business, not a mental health care facility. Their practices are ethically questionable at best and, at worst, I'd venture to say negligent and dishonest. All of the positive 5-star reviews on Google are fake. Notice the same pattern in how they're written - 1) mention the environment, 2) mention an employee by name, 3) describe how heard you were and how much better you feel. They only care about charging your insurance. Their billing practices are downright horrible. They keep a credit card on file and charge it prior to any appointments, which I get, but the charges vary drastically for the exact same services. If I wasn't paying close attention, I never would've noticed it was happening to me. When I called them out on it, I eventually received a refund via Venmo (which is pretty weird coming from a doctor's office). This is not a mental health facility that offers good, productive therapy or medication management. They are there to charge you as much as they possibly can - their most common tactics are ADHD testing and promoting newly approved medications (like their ketamine treatments) so that they can charge astronomical prices for in-office appointments as extended "medical observations." I've put up with it for months because I just don't feel like going through the physical, mental and financial stress of finding another provider in the area. But now that they've depleted my HSA account, charged my cards incorrect amounts multiple times, double charged my insurance on multiple occasions, and had the only provider that was worth seeing quit, I will be seeking another provider ASAP. The final motivation I needed to write this review was the fact that I cannot receive my medications on time because they've outsourced their customer service, billing, and scheduling. It feels like calling Target corporate to negotiate a refund anytime you call them. I have literally received calls harassing me about scheduling my next appointment while standing in the waiting room (because, well, more appointments = more money). This practice is negligent, ineffective, morally wrong, financially manipulative, and STRESSFUL - the last thing you want to deal with when seeking mental health care. If you just want ketamine or tacky office decor and to be treated like a number in a call center, go for it. If you want real, effective care, look elsewhere. read more

Hello I went to Gupta for an ADHD assessment. The assessment went fine until I met with a provider once completed. The provider was new and just been there a few weeks, the provider told me the assessment was not clear as to the results, that I may or may not have a form of ADHD. The provider wrote me a script and told me to come back in a month. I took the script for 2 days and had side affects that were too intense so I discontinued the use. I went back for my follow up appointment, the appointment was not with the same provider as that person was no longer there and another doctor saw me. This doctor was rude and very dismissive, did not even read anything in my chart prior to meeting with me. The doctor told me that " I just needed to learn how to deal with stress" and sent me on my way. I did not go back and would not recommend this place to anyone. For a mental health provider this place is less than acceptable. The office staff was nice and the overall office is nice but I can get that same feeling by walking into Whole Foods. read more

If there was an option to pick no stars I would. I stopped going to this office many months ago, and was hesitant to write this review, but I think people should be aware of the tactics this practice uses. My first appointment started out fine, routine vitals etc, but I got a little suspicious about a urine analysis that was done. I brushed it off and just assumed it was procedure. The psychiatrist had first asked me some random, suspect questions, as to whom I had been seeing for my current meds and the last time I had had a drink. I told him I had an alcoholic drink the weekend before to celebrate my anniversary and that was all. When I returned to the room we had been meeting in, he asked me again when I had had my last alcoholic beverage. And I repeated what I had told him the first time. His next sentence was "that's funny, because there was alcohol in your system." Almost as if he was trying to catch me in a lie and was insinuating there may be a problem I was trying to hide. I remembered then that I had had one glass of wine two nights prior to my appointment. His response, "well if this is a problem for you we handle those issue here too." I should of walked out of the door then. Not only was he accusing me of lying, but he was pushing the "health and wellness" side of the practice on me which also handles substance abuse. I really had been searching for a diagnosis for a long time, and although my primary care doctor had been handling all of my meds, she suggested going for an official diagnosis from someone more qualified. During the appointment, he admitted that my pcp had done everything right as far as meds were concerned but that I just needed a few adjustments. My diagnosis was Bipolar. Nothing else. I've looked at my files since to have on record, and that is literally all it says "Bipolar, Unspecified." There was no further testing, no questions as to mania, depression, hypo mania, nothing. No further evaluations. When a medicine change gave me a specific side effect, they were quick to give me another one to try fix it, not try to fix the actual problem. Lack of genuine interest as far as I'm concerned. To top it all off, the last straw was when he got mad at me for allowing my pcp, who he said was handling my meds wonderfully, made a slight change in my med routine. He told me she had no business doing that and that it was unprofesssional. She had been the one who prescribed all of my meds initially and at this point I trusted her more than I trusted him AT ALL. After all of our visits being virtual because he changed his office location, he insisted I come into the office, over an away hour for me, for a blood test because he didn't trust that she was keeping up with protocol. I declined and said I would not be returning. Moral of the story, be careful. They are unprofessional, push meds, are money hungry, and push other aspects of their business for financial gain. Accusing me of lying about excessive alcohol use should of pushed me over the edge, but I let it slide and i really shouldn't have. Steer clear of this place. You'll regret it if you don't! read more

Thanks for calling and confirming that you have no idea what happened to my DNA after it was taken from me, and then for hanging up on me while I was in the middle of speaking, quite professional and organized. Yes, still quite upset, and it is still your job and responsibility to forward my medical records to my new psychiatric nurse and therapist. This practice is honestly awful! I wish I could put zero stars cause it's incredibly clear that they don't give a damn about their patients or their mental health. This office is incredibly unorganized. My first meeting went well with my first psych nurse, come to find out all the notes and records she took went missing due to "technical difficulties". My next meeting I find out that my previous nurse no longer worked there and I was swapped out for another one, which did not listen to me or make me feel like she cared about my mental health concerns. I scheduled our next appointment to be virtual, she was 20 minutes late and so we decided to cancel and meet another time virtually. She arrived 15 minutes late to this one as well. We scheduled a Genesight test, I take the test in person, in a small room with a couch where the nurse taking my blood and mouth swab only used one glove and sat the tests on the table and then I wait weeks for my results. I request my results because at this point I've already moved on to a practice that takes me seriously. I am told I have to schedule another meeting with nurse number 2 because it would be best that she goes over results with me, fine. Meeting scheduled, she is late again, and doesn't have my Genesight test results, "no where to be found". I do not reschedule, and instead request my results through my online portal, all while my therapist and new non-Gupta psych nurse also have requested my records to move on with my treatment. I have yet to hear from Gupta and neither my therapist or nurse have received any contact from Gupta. They won't even answer their phones. At this point they are ignoring my messages and holding my records hostage. That's not even the kicker. I called Genesight to request my records and they told me they never received an order under my name, therefore Gupta Psychiatry has MY DNA FLOATING AROUND IN THIER OFFICE SOMEWHERE. I've waited for this Genesight testing for months and find out it wasn't even sent in and my DNA is nowhere to be found. My opinion: They don't care about your health. They don't care about responsibility to patients. They could care less and that is absolutely terrifying when it comes to your personal mental health. I would never EVER trust these people with my brain chemistry if they can't even show up to appointments on time, cooperate with my therapist, provide me with my personal medical records, and handle my literal dna with care. Y'all are a complete joke and I don't understand how you are still in business. I should have access to my records. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. read more

I went to Gupta for two months or so. They encouraged using the patient portal for essential communications especially regarding medication management as you're starting out and finding correct doses. The first person I worked with let me run out after just two weeks and didn't respond for over a week - then silently just moved me to another person where I'd have to start through my history again. I would also call the front desk but this was a dead end too. The second provider I worked with emphasized finding correct dosage then would be dismissive when I messaged about what dose was working. Then he sent me on a wild chase calling pharmacies about their stocks of different strengths. When I finally followed up about availability somewhere he would not do anything and told me to speak to my original pharmacy about their supply management. Who places that kind of burden on a new patient? Or does that at all? Communication all around is awful and a great burden is put on the patient to do things I've never personally had to do before- often not being helped in long run anyway. Again this was just a two month period, I can't imagine having to work with them longer. read more

I was very hesitant going in because of the reviews. My PCP referred me to this practice. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 is because I had to wait 25 minutes past my appointment time to be seen. Once I got in to see the person I was scheduled with, she was very kind, thorough, really sympathized with me and came up with a plan to help me. She even called Dr. Gupta to get a 2nd opinion. I have been seeking psychiatric care in the triangle area for a couple months. The first provider they paired me with showed up late to multiple appointments with no notice whatsoever. Our last appointment she sent the Telehealth link 20 minutes after the scheduled appointment time. They bill 24 hours before an appointment which I understand. My copay all previous visits has been 10 dollars. I see a 100 dollar charge on my card for an upcoming appointment with no prior notice. If I couldn't afford the new copay and needed to cancel the appointment I am no longer able to because it is past the 24 hour mark to cancel without another fee. The system they have for customer service is extremely frustrating and unhelpful. You are rarely talking to someone who works in the physical office you visit and it feels very much like you are not a patient at a doctors office, rather a customer at a superstore. read more

I sought out Gupta Psychiatry to help me manage what I suspected was ADHD. I was told the test would be $180, and that my insurance would not cover it. I have been a patient at Gupta since April 2021, and at no point was I made aware that my insurance did cover the ADHD test, and that my hard earned money was just sitting in their bank. On Oct. 4, 2022, I contacted the billing department and asked why my account balance was $-173.27. Blair responded: "Hi Karen! I am showing that this is an old credit on your account from 2021. It looks like your insurance has been paying 100%, so it was never used. Take care, Blair". I responded that I would like this money refunded to me. It took her ten days to say she would start the refund process, and that they usually issue refunds at the beginning of the month. I contacted them on October 4, so common sense would say she should've put my account in for the October refunds. On November 7th, they said my refund check was issued and in the mail. I contacted them several times mid November to let them know I had not record any check. I asked that they reissue a check for me to pick up. They have been unresponsive. read more

I wasn't very pleased at how I got blindsided by their processes, which were expensive, time-consuming, and ineffective for my wellness needs. I went there for a specific reason, and the doctor really wasn't very engaging at all. Not only that, but I was pawned off to all of her "handlers" to sandbag me with their IOP program, which I neither wanted nor was I there for that reason. It was logistically impossible for me to even do that program, even if I wanted to. I haven't been to a psychiatrist in a long time, over three years. I was hesitant to meet with one, as I was looking to be prescribed medication that could hopefully help my current mental state. Finally I got around to making the appointment and met with Dr. Gupta. The office in Apex is very calming and inviting, both physically and with the front desk staff. It feels like a warm friends house that happens to be a medical office. Service was fast and I didn't have to wait. Jennifer my psychiatrist was straightforward and kind, giving me a real game plan for what medication could help me, as well as listening to my concerns and needs. She was great. My husband has been under their care for over a year dealing with chronic insomnia among other serious disorders. Seeing a different provider at each appointment, more often than not, took a toll on his quality of care. Once the main doctor focused on him it became clear they were running out of ideas. Also she lacked a level of personableness and very quickly interrupts when you try to explain things to her. Instead of listening to him earlier about the severity of what he has been going through and the desperation it has lead to, the whole process has been drug out. This ultimately led to him taking drastic measures for some relief, which was met with disdain instead of understanding. Now that he in a way "took matters into his own hands" for a semblance of relief, now they are taking him seriously and referring him elsewhere, obviously happy to have him off their hands. It has been a waste of time. The auxiliary staff have always been as helpful as they can and are very pleasant. Maybe if you have a garden variety condition they could help you, but if it is complicated and serious, you might want to look somewhere else. read more

I would never recommend anyone to this practice. I went to Dr.Gupta for help during a difficult time in my life. I was battling depression, had recently become pregnant, however, my fiancé decided he didn't want children yet. He said he changed his mind because he wasn't ready, and was demanding I get an abortion. (My fiancé was a patient of Dr.Gupta as well) He made an appointment to see Dr. Gupta's counselor, and because they knew the situation and that I was his fiancé they asked if I would consider a joint appointment, and I said yes. We saw the counselor. During the session I was crying. My ex-fiancé was adamant that abortion was in my best interest, and that he was upset because he had driven me to an abortion clinic a couple of weeks earlier, but I refused to get one. The counselor who appeared to favor his side and show him greatest understanding looked at me and told me that his opinion was "not wrong", and that both of us had valid points. She urged me to hear him out. I could not believe it. I met with Dr. Gupta, and told her I felt her counselor showed little empathy and in no way assisted the situation. She appeared aggravated that I critiqued her counselors method and LITERALLY told me that I had "no right" coming to my ex-fiancés session, and that it should have been private to begin with. I explained to her that I was not supposed to come but that it was HER staff that recommended I come in for joint session because of the situation. She stated she saw nothing wrong with how her counselor handled the therapy session and I told her she didn't understand, and began crying. She told me "I know exactly how you feel. I went with my friend to an abortion clinic recently when she got an abortion and the people outside yelled at us". That was one of the most ignorant statements I have heard from a professional in my life. First, nobody knows exactly how another person feels. As a psychiatrist, Dr. Gupta should know that. And second, stating that she knew how I felt because she accompanied someone else into an abortion clinic is ridiculous. The two comparisons are very different. For every bad situation brought to light, there are many that are not. I can't imagine I was the first or last person treated this way. There is not one word here that I would feel uncomfortable stating directly to the practice because it is one hundred percent true. Choose another psychiatrist/mental health provider and don't put yourself in a position where the place you go to for help makes you feel a hundred times worse. read more
