He wants to make you informed and feel that you have all the facts I am day two post operative of total thyroidectomy. It was a very enlarged thyroid that took some time and skill to remove. I am very sore but not in a lot of pain. He calls and checks on me to see how I am feeling and if any questions. If you are in need an excellent surgeon he is the one! DO NOT LET HIS AGE FOOL YOU. He is a talented doctor that will be one of the great ones that everyone will want to see. My doctor said he would be her choice if in need of a Specialist to do surgery. 10/5 for all aspects.

My experience with Dr. Julia Ash/rheumatology Her assistant, Christine is meticulous and thoughtful about patient record integrity . These days, it's very complicated to have medical records distributed to your network of active physicians. Records that I had requested of another hospital did not make it to Westchester Medical Center/Dr. Ash on a timely basis. Christine walked me through form by form to make sure that all the teas were crossed and the I's dotted. I highly recommend Dr. Ash for her, no nonsense medical probing and expediency. The team here is managed well from appointment setting through the nursing staff who take your vitals through follow up. I would expect nothing else and nothing less of a teaching hospital. In order for me to see the doctors, I journey over an hour each way - well worth it to get the expertise and level of experience. The care you'll receive is efficient and thoughtful.

When I was recently looking for him to possibly transfer a 3rd embryo in the future- I came to find out that you can indeed transfer over to his office with your embryos if you want him to take on your future care. When i found out he wasn't with NW anymore I was so sad because theres no one else I trust more. He's 2 for 2! I have my two beautiful children through IVF with the guidance of Gabe. He makes you feel calm, confident and at ease going through such a procedure. I always tell friends that are going through fertility troubles that IVF isn't such a big deal, but maybe thats because I had the best doctor. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Shifrin and his entire staff. I had a large nodule that…read morewas pushing up against my windpipe and making it difficult to swallow. After my needle biopsy showed a positive reading naturally I was very nervous. I got in to see Dr. Shifrin within a week of the biopsy results to come up with a game plan. I'm on blood thinners so it makes for a complicated case. He did another ultrasound on it to confirm the size and he thought its in my best interest to remove the whole thing instead of half bc if the surgical biopsy came back positive then I would have to go back in and remove the other side. With me being on blood thinners for life it would be dangerous to stop again so that's what we did. Leading up to the day of surgery I kept in contact with Amy C who coordinated all my visits and paperwork. She was awesome! She took all my nervous calls and calmed me down every time. Post surgery I was swelling up pretty good so I reached out to Amy who then connected my with Tara the PA. She got right back to me in between their scheduled surgeries and saw me to look at the swelling. She and Dr. Shifrin both met up with me and did another ultrasound to make sure there was no fluid build up in my neck. After they saw me they went back to their next scheduled surgery. Tara followed up with me for the next couple of days to see how I was doing. The pathology report came in within a week and it was positive for papillary cancer. Tara called me again to go over it and was very compassionate and calmed me down. I just had my 2 week follow up with both Dr. Shifrin and PA Tara Corrigan and they were pleased to tell me that all the cancer was removed and I'm free of it now. My family and I thank everyone there for walking with us through this tough scary journey. If you're shopping around for a thyroid surgeon and happened on this review please take my word and come see them. You wont regret it!
