I had foot surgery alitte over a year ago for bunion and hammer toe on right foot. I was out of work for 6 months it was a long recovery. Had to go back into surgery due to an open wound that was not closed during the first surgery. It became infected did not notice the open wound until the first cleaning of the bandages not good!! He said it was my fault!! I have had x-rays and MRI done on the same foot because of the pain level that has never went away. Every visit with Dr Gunasayan I informed him that I couldn't walk barefooted was in to much pain it felt like I had a ball on bottom of foot he just dismissed it gave me some small exercise and told me to come back in two weeks. I had feeling some was wrong so I went in had a second opinion from a different doctor he stated that my bunion surgery was done incorrectly it was set to high. That is why I had pain when walking the first metatarsal joint was not making contact with the ground when I step. Causing misalignment. Causing pain. Just as I thought Please be careful when selecting a doctor alot of them don't care about your well being!! read more

The only reson I have gone to this MD office is because his receptionist Georgianna is awsome I don't know of ANY other office that has such a fabulous lady. This woman definatly needs a raise, she is the hardest worker I have ever seen. Go to him, for his oppinion? Not so sure he knows his job? Mediocre at best. I ruptured my Achilles' tendon just as the Coronavirus took hold in US. So I was a bit anxious about getting my surgery. But Dr. G got me a time slot at the OR (though my repair wasn't considered elective). The surgery went well.. Dr. used a new technique (I think it's new) that limits the size of incision and invasiveness ....it is now 2 weeks post op and I've got my leg in a boot and am starting calf exercises. Dr. has seen me twice now everything is going great and on schedule.. hope to start walking (limit weight bearing obviously) very soon. I'd recommend Dr. Gunasayan in a heartbeat! Pros: He's easy to get into and in a nice facility Cons: Doesn't seem to know what's going on I used him because he was in network, it was quick to see him and he put me in a soft boot. After 6 weeks I gave up on him because he didn't know what was going on and I hadn't improved. I got an 2nd opinion who seemed much more experienced and confident. It's tough hearing my doctor say "I don't know what's going on". In my case, no harm was done just frustration and doubt. read more

I hate to write a horrible review on anyone but Dr. Gunasayan is the worst doctor I have ever experienced. I agree with the previous reviews about his arrogance and his annoyance when you ask him a question. I saw him for an ingrown toe nail that was causing me a lot of problems, he never even looked at it when he came into the room, he just stood there on his iPad and said he needed to schedule surgery to remove it then got annoyed when I asked him about other options. Needless to say I paid my hefty bill and went to another podiatrist in town. No surgery required or permanent nail removal just a simple cut on the ingrown nail and everything is back to normal. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Update: June 2017- Had a friend complain about his experience with a podiatrist last night at dinner, laughed when I found out it was the same Dr. I had a bad experience with. Its a shame he can't get his act together and be nicer to his patients. To spend so many years in med school only to have a poor attitude that sends patients elsewhere. read more

Dr. NIck and his great staff took exceptional care of my son after he broke his foot late this summer. The surgery and folllow up went without a hitch and they were very accommodating and understanding working around our schedule and travels from the Bay Area. Dr. Gunasayan was recommended to me by an older neighbor, since he was then based in Pismo Beach, I didn't bother, my mistake. I went to two other podiatrists before Gunasayan and one wasn't even licensed to perform corrective surgeries. By the time I got to Gunasayan's office I had one Morton's Nueroma which had pushed the adjacent toe off it's joint and a moderate bunion on my left foot and my right foot had a severe bunion which had my big toe dislocated off it's joint. After two separate surgeries and some screws I was good to go. Dr. Gunasayan was always a professional and is a very skilled surgeon. While in pre-op my surgery was delayed until they autoclaved a specific instrument that he would not perform surgery without. I had a conversation once in his lobby with an elderly patient that the doctor had dissuaded from bunion surgery due to her age and condition and I was impressed that he was unwilling to shuttle patients thru just for the $$ and did have the patient's entire well being in mind. If you have ever looked at photos of the despairing condition of some people's feet you would understand what he has to work with. One thing I did learn while performing my due diligence online prior to the scheduled surgeries is that if you have bunions it's better to have surgical repair before they push your feet out of position as you then have a much, much less intensive and restrictive recuperation. If I had it to do over again Dr. Gunasayan would be the first podiatrist I went to and I would have had surgery years before. I saw the doctor in both his SLO and Templeton offices and I have to give credit to his excellent office manager Georgianna for always being ahead of the game when it came to my insurance company. I hope the good doctor appreciates her. What a great doctor! I met him a while back and he was personable, knowledgeable, and explained the procedure well. He took immediate care to relieve my foot pain...Several months later I broke my toe. I was so glad he was right there to rescue me from excruciating trauma and pain. He diagnosed the problem immediately and provided the cure. And his office assistant Georgianna is an angel. She was very sympathetic to my pain and instrumental in my recovery. I saw Dr Gunasayan about a severe pain in tender area below my ankle. He read my paperwork from a previous break and asked me about my pain level. He then looked at my shoes (expensive walking shoes) and said, "It's your shoes. You need to go to the Running Store and get some stability running shoes." Diagnosis Peroneal tenosynovitis left foot. Would post a zero stars if they allowed. Went to him for toe nail fungus laser treatment. After looking into it went to him asked him if it worked, as I had tried other prescription cures that failed to cure it. He assured me that it had worked on others. After religiously following all of his instructions, it failed to do anything at all. You have to pay $750 up front for four toes. The procedure becomes very painful if he leaves it on too long. He looks at you like " really?" If you wince. After the year was up and there had been no change, he just said "well, sometimes it doesn't work" .He even tried to blame me saying that I should have kept them cut shorter. When I said he never told me to, he said that it seemed obvious to him. Duh! I have since become aware of a prescription from Kohana pharmacy in SLO that they compound , and it appears to be working. I should say that I tried Jublia as well, with no results, either. I loved the lady that worked in his office, but he is so arrogant that it is hard dealing with him. I had long overdue surgery for a severe bunion and two dislocated hammer toes. Dr. Gunasayan was highly recommended by my primary doctor and other professionals. Dr. Gunasayan explained in detail, and showed me with x-rays, and a model foot, exactly what needed to be done. The office lady is pretty nice but I didn't much care for the Doctor. I also really didnt appreciate receiving an email asking me to pay the bill because my insurance didn't pay fast enough. That and the arrogance of the dr is the reason I never went back. He really just didnt seem to have any compassion and I am someone who appreciates a kind soul. When going to a new podiatrist I got alot better care and none of the attitude and steps were taken immediately to get me and my foot feeling better where as nothing was done on my first and last trip to this office. read more

Nick was an arrogant jerk, I had consulted him about having a bunion removed. In pre-op office visit he got very impatient when I asked "what flail toe was" (a risk he had just named) once he explained it to me, I asked if he had ever had anyone get flail toe, he said one person ever. I said "oh thats not a high percentage at all" he replies "I tell people its like going to Vegas only take as much money as you can afford to lose"...so just count on having flail toe and if you don't your ahead of the game(was what I took that to mean) He went on to tell me he didn't feel confident in my questioning and that was making him question whether I wanted the surgery. Dr. Gunasayan was patient with me. I appreciated that he heard what I was saying. He got me x-rays right away (the same day of my appt.). Plus, ordered physical therapy. I had seen another Templeton, CA. podiatrist and he didn't even try to help me with all of my pain. read more

I saw Dr G in on October 19th,2017(I had seen him about 15 months earlier...but for the other foot...he was "ok" at that time) The underside or ball of my right foot had been hurting for 2 months or so...I also mentioned...that for the very FIRST time(5 days earlier) my r. hip started hurting a little bit on the same leg(that info seemed to go in one ear of Dr G. and out the other)He said I could either try a removable walking cast or get an MRI(he NEVER mentioned with contrast dye)...I chose the boot/cast....Within 4 days I called his insensitive/uncaring secretary and told her my r. hip was hurting badly.(she apparently never conveyed this info to the doctor)...I came in two days later and got charged for an apt.just to have him request an MRI.& the secretary complained about the "hassle" it was for her to do the paperwork(once again he nor she, ever mentioned with contrast/dye)I mentioned my hip was persistently sore...he did not CARE..nor did he KNOW I had called with this info prior to the MRI...I got the MRI(with contrast...I was called by the imaging facility at 5:40 pm the night b4 my MRI and was told I needed dye)I was baffled...so I went to a different facility...I had a SEVERE REACTION to the contrast dye(BEWARE of Gadolinium)...MY RIGHT HIP was in severe pain(for a few days) right after leaving the facility,,,,I called the doctors office immediately..he was OFF for the day the day and the aloof/pre-maddona attitude secretary told me to take 2 aspirin...ONCE AGAIN she NEVER mentioned my call to her boss/doctor...I came in 4 days later to get my MRI results and he had ZERO concern(or knowledge) when I told him what had happened...I ended up having to go to a Orthopedic surgeon/dr...had hip-x-rays...had to go to physical therapy for my hip and I also spent $$ at the health food store to try and DE-TOX from the heavy metal/dye I was injected with(& I never signed a consent form that I can recall)...The billing process was also very QUESTIONABLE...and when I lingered a bit on paying for the final 2visits they threatened me with collections...This dr is quite arrogant and spends very little time(with me anyways) and CANNOT recall info you tell him from just a few days before....on 2 of my 3 appointments the secretary did not even great me with a "hello" when I arrived at their office.(she too is arrogant)....I HIGHLY recommend you go SOMEWHERE ELSE... read more

I do not agree with the recent negative reviews. I've been seeing Dr. G since April 2017 for a fractured #5 metatarsal. He initially recommended surgery, but then gave me a non-surgical option: bone stimulator. It took a little more time, but by August there was well-defined mending in my foot. By the end of September I was off the knee scooter and using walking boot. By November I was walking without any devices. Dr. G doesn't go in for much small talk, and I admit he can be non-responsive to questions not related to the specific injury. But so what? The results speak for themselves, and I'm so glad he was my doctor. I'm now walking normal, and I've got my life back. As for Georgeann, she is a godsend. She is efficient, friendly and very knowledgable. She has been more resourceful than some PAs I've had with Kaiser. Bottom line: I would never hesitate to recommend Dr. Gunasayan's office to anyone with foot or ankle injuries. Period. read more

Dr G is amazing. I tore a tendon in my ankle, and after seeing three other drs who said it was just a bad sprain...Dr G took me seriously, that the pain was different. When he discovered from the MRI results that it was a tear he called me immediately before a long holiday weekend to tell me to change what I was doing (my other doc didn't even read the results until after the holiday and I was sitting in front of him in his office.) Once we determined I needed surgery (Dr G did not push surgery at all, but it was obvious after a period of time it was necessary. He and his office staff, Georgiana, give such personal attention. They know who I am when I call in, remember why I am seeing him when I come in. Other docs in big group practices were not treating me this way. I also really appreciate how straight forward Dr. G is. I like someone who doesn't beat around the bush or just tell me what I want to hear, but he tells it like it is and makes sure I am on the right path of healing before letting me move the to the next step of therapy etc. Your feet are important and Dr. G will educate you, take the time he needs with you and he and his office are very prompt and don't make you wait. read more
