Unbelievable...but real B&B about 30 mins outside Inverness and 20 minutes from the airport…read more Just off the main road is an oasis of several acres of trees and gardens and a B&B. Beautiful large main building housing the restaurant, sitting room and perhaps guest rooms. Beyond that are cottages and our 4-room (all small) apartment called The Writer's Room. We walked from the main house through a beautiful English country garden to get there. Stunning, even in September w grasses, blooming plants and pebble paths. Just beyond that is an orchard of fruit trees..we picked an apple plus fresh apples and plums were in a bowl in our room. The four rooms included a small bathroom w shower (sorry, no bath), a large writers room that included a desk, two sitting chairs and a fireplace, and a small kitchen that led into the bedroom. Towels were plush and large. The space was cozy with beautiful wooden beams across each one of the rooms. And wait, for the best part. From our greeting at the front door to all of the servers at the restaurant, all of the hotel staff were young, sprightly and extremely personable. We did not pre-book our restaurant reservations, but we probably should have. The restaurant was definitely a destination restaurant. We had options of either two or three course à la cart menu or a 7-course surprise menu. We opted for the à la cart and it was truly wonderful. The plating and food were Michelin quality but at a slightly lesser price point. Our only disappointment was that we only booked this for night and that we had to depart at 6 AM for a very early flight. Next time we will stay for at least two nights. Kudos to management and the staff.

Cod main was perfectly cooked and excellent combination of flavors. Venison and wild mushroom main was outstanding. Cheese course definitely large enough to share for two, might actually work for three. Desserts perfect. Highly recommended.

We had a great check in after arriving. Very friendly and helpful plus got us quickly processed so…read morewe could decompress after our long drive from Isle of Skye. The room was quite large and spacious. Our bed and pillows were very comfortable. A small refrigerator was also in the room. As a Platinum member, we received complimentary parking and a full breakfast unlike the Courtyards in the US. Everything for a Scottish breakfast was available along with the typical breads, pastries, cereals, etc. porridge was made to order and came with a side of fruit and honey. The gym was compact and a water bottle refill located there. A microwave was located near the front desk if needed. Eventhough it was a drive from downtown Inverness the Courtyard was more convenient for our next day plans of seeing Fort George and Culloden Battlefield.

Okay this whole trip to Inverness was a waste of time and a mistake. The only reason to stay in…read morethis hotel is if you were flying at that airport and need to be close. None of which we were doing my husband had heard the drive to Inverness was scenic so we made this long drive there for nothing. And the and it wasn't Scenic it was anything special so we stayed in this hotel and we didn't know evidently that it was right beside an airport but we had enough points that we could stay there for free by using our travel points. We took a pass on the breakfast because it didn't look good the place wasn't anywhere Scenic it was you know it was a waste of time. Did like having air conditioning and a sheet which are standard in America hotels but not in Europe for some reason? Anyway I made a stupid mistake and left my SmartWatch in the hotel they found it but didn't call us. So we were 6 hours away when we gave up looking for it and called around and found it at the hotel. Well kudos to them for their honesty of turning the watch in but that's where the Applause stops they were very unhelpful and unwilling to do anything to get it back to us. We offered them $100 to send it to us but they refused to do anything and we had to hire a private company to go there to pick it up and then send it to us. I thought that was very poor customer service. Especially since my husband was supposedly a valued member of their travel Rewards. It just added a lot of hassle and I just thought it was poor customer service. Of course the blame is on me for leaving my watch but I definitely wouldn't go there again or recommend them unless you need to be close to an airport.

The Inch - Seafood Risotto

I almost had to give a one…read more.. But I think because of the professionalism with the service and the decor and what not, I didn't think it was a complete miss. I have had way worster experiences and I feel like these reviews are more for the hotel itself rather than just the restaurant itself so I do want to be somewhat fair. With all that being said... I can't confidently recommend the restaurant here. The Caesar salad was literally the only thing that was somewhat edible. I had been in Scotland for almost a week at this point and it was also the first time that I had ever been charged for water. That was something I kinda wished they would have mentioned to us if they were going to do that. That's not cool man. It really comes off as shady. For food I ordered the Seafood Risotto and there was practically no flavor. When I asked my friends how they felt about their dishes, it was unanimous around the table. Maybe the chef just quit the night before and they were trying to make do with what they have and know? It's just weird right? You see the pictures and see how cool The Inch looks inside and out and just figure if they have a restaurant that it's going to have at least "some" form of quality to the food. But there was none to be found unfortunately and you are left just feeling like this place is a tourist trap. So yea can't recommend the food here. Then again it is a small area. Maybe that's just all the people know? It'd be really sad if that was actually the case. My only hope is that the staying there for the night is an actual 5 star experience.

When we checked in the lovely girl came outside to greet us. It was the sweetest hotel check in ever!! Our room was lovely. There's a huge living room with a fireplace that they lit downstairs. That was my favorite place to hang out. There was also chairs outside overlooking the lake and it was so quiet and peaceful at night. And there's a little hike behind the hotels to the waterfall. It was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The food in the restaurant was superior. They rent out the whole place for weddings and I'm trying to talk my best friend into getting married there it was so great.
