I came with a specific goal in mind: organizing my finances and understanding how to manage my money best. I co-parent while working two jobs, and I needed to know where my money was going. After ten months of working with Elle and the team, I have an organized money management plan that allows me to see how every dollar is spent. I've paid off over $8,800 of debt during this time and increased my credit score by 118 points - allowing me to purchase my new luxury car at only a 4.2% interest rate! Before joining the GFB Level Up Program, I had an issue with my money mindset by overspending and neglecting my finances. When I started to think about my community and helping others live a more holistic and thriving lifestyle, I knew it had to start with me and my finances first. In just FOUR months of joining the program, my credit score increased 97 points, I paid off over $5,600 in debt (including one student loan paid in full), and I added a comma to my savings account. The thing that helped me the most was the accountability to keep me paying attention to where my money was going. I now feel so empowered in how I handle my finances and the knowledge I can pass along to my girls and my community.

My parents invested their retirement money with McGowan; my father was not a professional man, but a blue collar worker. Now that he is passed, McGowan looks after my mother's investments and is always ready to help her or answer any questions. Alex at McGowan's helped me set up a fund that was granted to me in a divorce settlement: a very small fund, but when I need his help (such as understanding how an IRA is affected by bankruptcy), he answered my questions and concerns immediately in a way I could understand. Yes, this investment firm like all others is seeking out the "big" investors, but they are just as conscientious in managing smaller accounts and providing solid advice and recommendations to their "common man" clients.
