Very interesting shop in downtown Bergen. Unique and beautiful jewelry handmade in the studio in the studio in the rear. Various metals and gem stones are used. Staff are gracious and informative. I was there on August 16 and saw a pair of stunning earrings in left front window I wanted. Very busy and didnt get back morning to purchase. I bought very pretty silver drop earrings there in September but one soldered joint broke on the third time wearing them. Since this jeweler does not respond to my request to repair, I have to bring the earrings to a local jeweler in MA who sees the barely-there joint. The dark alleyways of Bryggen hide many treasures to be toasted, from small boutiques and artists' studios to a specialty fishing shop and a cozy coffee shop, Kaf Kafe. This area offers the best shopping for all your classic souvenir and bibelot needs, as well as for higher end festive finery, and quality clothing that should last you for many years to come. My favorite shop in Bryggen was Per Vigeland, a jewelry shop showcasing unique silver pieces in both classic and contemporary designs. You'll want to break out the bubbly when wearing these baubles! Why not buy one ring per finger to look extra PERdy? The artist's workshop is attached to the gallery, so if perchance you are in the area, you can peek in to view the magic firsthand. This also speeds up the process of making sizing adjustments as needed. I was not able to capture photos of some of the more expensive and intricate masterpieces simply due to the crowd inside the store, but I did get a few pics in of some of the more versatile every day bling (these photos do not do the jewelry justice). The store was packed during each of our visits, but the lone sales associate seamlessly kept track of all customers and transactions without appearing flustered, with multiple people trying to get her attention at once. I purchased a pair of spiral earrings, some drop earrings plated in in rose-gold, and a ring. One of my drop earrings (not pictured yet) broke the first time I wore them after getting entangled in my hair, but I should have known to only wear them when my hair was up due to the delicate nature of the design. The earrings were gorgeous, so I will be ordering a replacement. Plan on dropping some dough if you pop in--there is something here for every budget and style. Don't forget to have them fill out the refund document for the vat tax refund when checking out. My new year's resolution will be to order more from this store! I give them 5 nifty noise makers.
