You see folks absorbed in finding one after the next pretty ones! But when you get to this paradise, be ready to pay a more for public beach parking. If you can find a spot! Not easy. Patience is a virtue! As of today, late August 2021, the price is $25/2 hours or $40/day. Nothing in between, like 1 hour or by the half hour. Pay by cash or credit card and display your receipt on the dashboard. I saw park services vehicle in the area. Don't get a ticket. There are no public restrooms, showers or food service. Prices are meant to keep out most ordinary citizens. Captiva is pricey, the playground for the wealthy for the most part. Private landowners enjoy private beach access. We enjoyed the shell-laden beach for two hours. It really is a beautiful stretch of beach. We drove back through Sanibel Island to the other area beaches, checking each one along the way. Most beaches on Sanibel offer parking at $5 /hour. Good for the common folk like us lol!

All beaches in Collier County, on the Gulf of Mexico are Public Beaches, no matter what any property owner or official tells you. There is a ton of misinformation about this.

This was the former beachfront home of Jim and Ellie Newton, who were friends with Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone and Charles Lindbergh. It is known as the Seven Seas Cottage where Jim Newton wrote his book, Uncommon Friends in 1987. Across the street is a Publix supermarket. Town of Fort Myers Beach purchased this property in 2003 and preserved this property. It is family friendly, quiet place perfect for anyone that does not want the noise and action at Fort Myers Beach. It has two bocce courts, Chickee Huts, with picnic tables with outdoor shower, restrooms with about 30 space for parking. The current rate is $3 per hour from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Of course, public beach access is available! You can explore the natural beauty through a guided walk along the shore on Tuesday and Thursday (9:00 AM). This is normally provided by a Naturalist by the Mound House nearby. There is Yoga group with weekly meeting/workout here but somehow, I forget their schedule. This is a small but a great place to enjoy the beach without the crowd!

Alison Hagerup Beach is the most northern beach on Captiva Island. The beach is named in honor of…read moreAlison Hagerup who was a dedicated administrator for the Captiva Erosion Prevention District for 20 years. She championed refurbishing the coastline and lobbied for beach re nourishment. She was known for being able to get people to join together for the benefit of the beaches. Alison Hagerup passed away in 2008 and she is buried in the nearby historic Captiva Cemetery where friends and family lay shells on her grave in honor of her love of the beach and her work as a public servant. There are only two roads that run the length of Sanibel all the way to the end of Captiva where this beach is located. It's 14 miles from the causeway four way stop to the beach but the ride is one of the most beautiful you will ever take. Once you arrive the beach has pay parking open from dawn to dusk and port a potties. There is signs everywhere reminding you to pay. The beach is adjacent to the private South Seas Islands Resort. It faces west making it the perfect place to watch the sunset. I arrived a few minutes too late this time but there is now denying the beauty of Captiva and this pristine beach. Great spot in north Fort Myers that is located on the river. There is a fishing pier here though…read morenot much else. A few spots for parking and some shade. There is no playground and no other active features. The pier extends a good bit over the water and there the usual features including a small table and some spots to stick your pole. Seating on the pier, too. The view from the end of the pier is quite lovely though it's to the north. You're not going to find a great sunset or sunrise from here. There are temporary bathrooms that are in decent shape. Located right next to Times Square affords you access within a 3 to 5 minute walk of bars, resturants and a few vendors. And the small downtown area with souvenir shops, more bars/resturants. They are currently doing beach reclamation so the water is a bit mirky. Also currently a fairly high incidence of red tide. So lots of coughing. Neither of which is the beaches fault. Lots of boat traffic and great people watching

The parking lot is paid and it doesn't turn over very much. I waited a bit for a space to open up. If you don't want to play that game, there is the free LeeTran shuttle from Fort Myers. I saw lots of fish and crustaceans, and of course an abundance of shells. Truly a beautiful and peaceful beach that is a rare find. Parking is free at the nearby Beach Park North parking lot, and there is a foot wash station conveniently located at the lot. I would come back anytime I am visiting Bonita Springs!
