Price Next, we invited quotes from E-Z-GO dealers across Texas on a new lithium battery-powered golf cart. Liberty Golf Cars out of Beaumont was the first to reply. Their quote was remarkably lower than the other 12 quotes received - differentiated enough to make it well worth an hour and a half drive to pursue. Dealing In Beaumont, we met with Liberty Golf Cars owner Doug Mellen who patiently listened to our requirements, and showed us all standard and optional features available. Doug was very flexible on pricing on selected upgrades which for us included premium seats, turn signals, 3.0 lithium battery and custom paint. A Few Glitches A day before delivery we noticed the rear flip seat we had ordered was not the one in the pictures sent of our nearly ready car. The supplier had stopped supplying but we were unaware. But Liberty ended up having one on premise that they gladly swapped onto our car. Upon delivery we noted a few concerns including a required alignment adjustment, and the car arrived completely uncharged, so we could not test drive. However, all was resolved in less than two days. Delivery Delivery was made directly to our home, well over an hour away, by a delivery professional. Overall Experience Our overall experience with Liberty Golf Cars was very positive as they quickly made adjustments to meet our demands. We learned that Doug keeps top notch employees in the office, shop and delivery. A scroll through their Facebook page and it's apparent Doug values each of them. To top this off, Doug destroyed everyone else on price as our new golf car was easily $1,500 less than all others. We highly recommend Liberty Golf Cars.

We ended up leaving bc we had our three children w us who were getting squirmy and told the lady we would be back. There was no follow up on her part and we ended up finding the same golf cart at a different location for $1k cheaper and could deliver next day. We called and asked if she could price match this but she didn't seem interested in trying. We ended up getting our deposit back and getting the same cart for cheaper elsewhere.

Their customer service is awful, their prices are too high, and they don't hesitate to overcharge customers unfairly. I paid $487.12 for a two-night rental, which was already too expensive, but since they were the only place with carts available, I had no other option. Unfortunately, that was just the beginning of my problems. I was overcharged for damages to a cart--damages that I frankly don't believe I should have been charged for at all. I hit the side of a very, very narrow cart-access bridge, something that seemed unavoidable given the tight space. In fact, when the gentleman that brought me a replacement cart and took me on a test drive across the same bridge, he hit the bridge four times himself! That alone should've made it clear that the issue was with the bridge design, not reckless driving on my part. To make matters worse, the guy who came to pick up the damaged cart was a complete jerk. He spoke to me like I was a child and quoted me "two and a quarter" (his exact words) for the repairs. However, when I checked my bank account, I saw that I was actually charged $297.69--much higher than what was quoted. Between the poor communication, overpriced rentals, and unfair charges, I would strongly advise anyone to stay away from Texas Custom Carts. There are far better and more honest companies out there.
