We were there to purchase a $5000 keyboard however, the customer service representative didn't want to help us out because "he wanted to go home." he claimed that if he helped us, it would take an hour and a half because there is nobody else to check out anybody else in the store implying that we would be there for an hour and a half just to purchase one thing. Fred and Steve in the Clearwater store did a great job for us this week. Having called ahead to confirm inventory, they were ready for us when we arrived and set up in a private studio room both a white Music Man Kaizen and a Gibson J-45 I had asked about (pretty diverse, huh?). Then Fred did a great job ordering the "Kryptonite" color Kaizen for us and in particular was able to secure the lighter weight guitar from the two on hand in the warehouse. Then the day the guitar arrived the store manager, Jim, called to make sure we were all good! Yes, yes we are ALL good. Truthfully, some Guitar Center stores have a spotty reputation but the Clearwater store is top shelf with us and I am here to spread the word! read more

I brought my guitar in for service and requested the strings changed, neck straightened, frets sanded and conditioned. They changed the strings (didn't tune the guitar) and only conditioned the guitar neck. When asked about the other work that was to be done he said he should have written it down and didn't complete the work. I had to pay for everything even though it wasn't completed. I called and tried to discuss and didn't get anywhere. I'm thinking it was rushed as it's only a hobby for me but I should have the same respect as a professional. They had the guitar for 5 days. Had a great experience at Guitat center in Clearwater. I mistakenly purchased the wrong size keyboard case over a month ago, but didn't realize it until today. I brought it back, without a receipt and the young man, Gianfranco (I think I'm spelling that right) was EXTREMELY helpful and understanding. He was able to not only get approvale for me to get an exchange even though i didn't havr the receipt, but he was (And is) very courteous, customer friendly and knows what's going on there. My son needed a string for his classical guitar replaced last minute and Jim was able to fix it for him within minutes with a job well done! He did it with a smile on his face and we were in and out the door. I went in there because I was in need of a 4x12 cabinet. I walked around the store for about 15 min. Not a single employee ever approached me to say hi or to see if they could help me in any way. They were way too busy talking about how one of the employees bands was trying to get on the Warped tour with the other employee. There was only one other customer there being helped at the counter. Sales clerk, John, was extremely helpful, as was his manager, James Meassick. We stopped in for a trade in & purchase. Everything was smooth, but when we came to pick up the order the guitar was cracked in shipping. No problem, John handled the return & was so helpful we decided to purchase a more expensive guitar they had on site. James helped, gave us the same extra credit for the trade in. Terrible service, had a used Charvel guitar listed online. Purchased and a few days later order was canceled for no reason. Few weeks later, same guitar relisted so I purchased it again. Called store manager to confirm it was in stock. He informed me yes but would barely let me speak over phone and kept talking over me. Guess what? a few days later same thing happened again. Order canceled. Left bad review and GC reached out kept saying district manager would call me regarding this issue according to Beau Larson this is going on a few weeks now and still no response to email or a phone call. Take your business to mom/pop music stores. Guitar Center is a joke. read more

There is a woman who runs this place that is a cancer to this business. I have moved around the country and I am fortunate enough to have money now to buy a real guitar and amp. I asked this woman, who is a manager, to borrow a thumb pick to play the guitars and she said I could only buy one. The first time I asked she responded that way but I saw a thumb pick attached to the computer screen and she let me try that one. The second time she said I had to "buy one or get out". I have been to many guitar centers and I've never been told this before because they're usually trying to sell big ticket items, aka guitars. I bought a 10k acoustic guitar from Sam ash later that month. There's no better way to kill a store than to continue to employ that notorious manager there. This is a big corporate monster so I'm sure they'll probably just promote this person for the rest of their life but I used to love guitar center until those last couple experiences. I recommend you just Google guitar stores if you live in pinellas and don't waste your time you'll only be chased out as a customer read more

Went here during the COVID stuff. Don't have much to say, nothing great nor anything bad. Not allowed to enter without a mask, which is reassuring. All customers coming in are more or less 'assigned' an employee to help you around. This had both its pros and cons. It was nice to have someone at the ready to help you out, but I also personally prefer just looking around and trying out guitars on my own. The problem came with how they stock out their products. Tried a guitar that I was interested in, but turns out they had no more in stock, and the show model had a loose volume knob that jiggled around. Additionally, they only had a certain model of this guitar in stock, and not the other that I was specifically looking for (I can't knock them for this, this could have been easily solved by calling ahead, just thought I'd mention) Tried the guitar out on a Boss Katana amp. I was interested in the MKII amp, the newer version, but they only had the older version. If I were to purchase that amp, I'd have to wait at least a week for it to arrive (at least I was under that assumption) It's just curious to me why they don't have the newer version(s) in stock; additionally, why they have models on show when they don't have them ready to sell. Suffice to say, I did end up going to Sam Ash where I found both the exact guitar and amp that I was searching for. I see a lot of reviews mentioning going to Sam Ash instead. I don't want to jump on a bandwagon here, but at the end of the day, if Guitar Center as a business does not step up its game, then Sam Ash is gonna draw more customers, simple as that. The employee that greeted us outside was great, though. My friend and I were out of masks, but this employee gave us a few of his personal disposable masks that he had in the back. I don't remember this employee's name, but Guitar Center needs more employees like him! All in all, a very middle-of-the-road experience. Merchandise left much to be desired, but employees made the experience much more positive. Also, their used-gear guitars looked to have some very nice gems for low prices. I honestly don't know what everybody else was bitching about as soon as I got into the store I was greeted I went over to the rental department and they had everything set up ready for me. Also I am from out of state, I don't know anybody at the store at all all of my equipment worked wonderful at the gig and it was not a problem at all returning it -took maybe less than three minutes. For me, service is everything and it's nobody's fault that the store does or doesn't carry know things, it always depends on the demand. Luckily for me there at everything I needed. I needed an inexpensive guitar to take to the place I get lessons, instead of taking my good guitars. I bought a guitar that was $159 on sale for $120. The box looked like it had been open and re taped. There was not any warranty card or material inside the box when I got home and the D string is all rusted. I had to buy new strings. I think this guitar was returned by someone, and the store sold it to me as a new guitar, not a used guitar. Why else would a string be all rusted? read more

Absolutely love this place. I prefer it over Sam Ash. The staff here is MUCH friendlier and will actually ask you if you need help (instead of trying to avoid you - like at the other place). They've got everything you could possibly need and the folks seem very knowledgeable about the product they are selling, whether it's the guitars, keyboards, microphones, drums, recording equipment, etc. GREAT selection of guitars. I Called at 9:58. Ring for about 2 minutes. Guy picks up at 10:00 (when they open) ask if I can check a product in stock. Guy asks me to call back at 10:00 when the open. Huh.... Staff and manager seem helpful but the company in general is a total mess. I received a defective interface, and it's been over a week waiting for them to transfer a replacement from another store that's only 500 miles away. They do not appear to have any control over inter-store shipments and no way to track them. I could have returned the item to the factory and had a replacement quicker that this. I have lost a week's worth of recording time and I am very disappointed. read more

This is the second time I've scheduled my son for a 15 min trial vocal lesson to see if he likes the teacher and the first time we came to our scheduled appointment and the vocal coach never showed up and no one called us to say he wasn't coming in so we drove all the way there for nothing we live far from this store. Then we decided to give it another shot and scheduled another 15 min trial with the same teacher and we drove all the way there again and he wasn't there once again no one called us to say not to come. Waste of time and gas twice! Patrick who schedules everything should have called us to say not to come. Dominic the teacher is a flake that apparently doesn't care about his job, getting any new singing clients or the reputation of Guitar Center. They are very disorganized at that store. Drive all the way there just to be told nope can't do it, I'm too busy and my days off are Monday and Tuesday might be able to get to it Wednesday! WTH??? So they have now lost me as a customer!
