Being the nearest agent, I…read morechose Cas Fontenot when I transferred my policy to Louisiana (note: unless you want your premiums to double, try to avoid insuring your vehicle in Louisiana....) Anyhow, it has been 4+ years since then, and in my 10+ years of driving, I have never had to file a claim until the hail storm in February. Thus, it took 10+ years for me to experience any real issues with State Farm. As soon as that hail storm happened, I knew they were going to be flooded with claims, so about 10pm that same night I went onto the State Farm app and submitted the claim. (yay technology!) About a week passed without hearing anything from anyone. (boo technology) Finally they called to schedule an appointment with the adjuster at one of those "tent city" disaster claim popups. They wanted to schedule it the day of my wedding, which wasn't going to happen, so we scheduled it for 2 days afterwards. I showed up at my ridiculously early 7:15am appointment, only to be turned away because of some apparent computer glitch (or misinformed call center rep) that actually scheduled it for the following week. Argh. So much for first come, first served. So I got to drive around my fairly new-ish car with a million hail dents for about 3 weeks before seeing the adjuster and getting my repair check. The process went smoothly afterwards. They cut me a check, they were off by about $800, my body shop got them to cover the difference, car looks fine. My only other complaint is that these people close early without warning. I made my husband get to their office well before 5pm on a Friday to drop off a document that they needed from him, and at 4:40pm, nobody was in. The hours on the website and on the door to the building both say 5pm.

I recommend anyone who is looking for good customer service to contact Cas Fontenot's office and anyone you speak to in the office will go above and beyond to help you. Good customer service is hard to find these days, so whenever I am treated good I like to acknowledge it. They really treat you like family there. I am one happy customer! KC

Receptionists were always super friendly and nice, but you need to talk to a customer services representative in order to get an answer. You always have to go through a receptionist first. But even when you get to customer services, it can be tricky. Even though they keep a record of all your calls and requests in the system, it is challenging to get the info on the phone, especially if you are talking to different people every time and have to start your story from the beginning of times.... So today, after talking to a receptionist again, I decided to go to the office and talk to an actual person. Only one person, not 5 or 10. I didn't expect much. I was ready to be sent from one department to another on different floors. So I put on my comfortable tennis shoes on and off I go. To my surprise, I was the only one in the line. I was talking to Customer Services within 5 minutes. Prior to this visit, I had a consultation with an attorney. According to him, mistake was made by Assessor's Office. Turns out, he was wrong. I was assisted by Darlene Lamkin who showed me all documentation, confirming that mistake came from Tax Committee in Baton Rouge. She was very patient with me explaining how it happened, what I should do next and asking questions making sure I understood everything. She also mentioned, that everything has to be in writing to keep a paper trail and helped me to write a letter to Errol Williams, Assessor. Also, she gave me her direct number so I could call her if I had any questions. What a pleasant surprise. Thank you for you help!

One assessor. Wow what a difference…read more If you're a homeowner in New Orleans, you've dealt with the assessor's office. Honestly every experience I've had with them has been professional and easy. I KNOW a government office, who knew. When I bought my house, we were still under the old 7 assessor thing...which honestly was mostly confusing. Everything was paper based and staff scoffed when I asked about submitting anything via email or even fax. I let my homestead exemption go when I stopped living in the house I owned for a few years and when I needed it restored, it couldn't have been easier. I called the one assessor and they mailed me some documents and I sent them back. Easypeasy. FF to now, the housing prices in my 'hood have gone bezerk so my reassessment, which I knew was coming, was harsh. So I went in (open enrollment is July 15-August 15) spoke to a staff person with paperwork in hand and 30 minutes later had a small adjustment and they had the correct dimensions for my house. Whew. Also, I love that the database is all online, so I can find out who actually owns the houses around me. Good job!
