The name of this multi-level shop originates from its history being a Chinese import shop in its heyday. It now stocks trendy clothing for men & women as well as accessories. Club goers rejoice! Be sure to bring your credit card! Style does not come cheap.

23/12/2011 If there's one thing that turns on a…read moresophisticated Aussie gentleman like me is a hot girl, with a hot body, in a sexy hot dress. Miss Gladys Sym Choon provided that for me. A sexy girl in a sexy dress is a certainty to be spotted at least once in a visit to Rundle Mall, Adelaide. Come here on any given weekday and you'll believe me. It's only a matter of time before you suddenly turn your head towards that girl's direction...I remember an American businessman friend of mine that told me, "When I visited Australia for the first time, and I saw how beautiful Aussie women were, I knew it was highly likely that I could get into trouble. And I'm married." This isn't an understatement. I've fallen victim to the lure of Aussie women several times before. I especially loved the music that was playing. It's hard not to like a store when they have a playlist of a Sade song, followed by 'World Tour' by 'A Tribe Called Quest'. Frilly at the top, and skimpy and tight around the waist and legs. The prices are higher than usual, and you can get far classier dresses for a lower price. Miss Gladys Sym Choon still deserves a lot of credit for its designs from the Malaysian designer. Although designs can be simple and of one bright colour (my top two colours from this store are bright red or metallic black), there are other items on offer, and you've gotta appreciate that they've allocated a generous section for menswear too. Though not the best on prices, Miss Gladys Sym Choon do dresses very, very well. It was funny, because once I asked the shop assistant for a sexy dress, he was on fire and picked out five different colours without any hesitation! The other girls downstairs saw what was happening and they laughed when I said, "She's tryin', I'm buyin!'" LOL For those of us blokes who randomly suddenly get a testosterone hit while shopping, Miss Gladys Sym Choon will cause your jaws to drop. Thank you so much. The best way to end my day. I left there thinking, "Damn girl, you looked sexy in those tight dresses. Sexy, sexy, sexy." This store, like the Sade song, "gave me a kiss of life."

An Australian institution, as well as an honest to goodness legend this guy started off as a…read moreswag-man, which is more or less old school Australian for a person of no fixed address, and he ended up owning and running a multimillion dollar clothing empire. He comes from the North of Adelaide, a strange and isolated little place called Jamestown where the people were once so afraid of progress they would run you out of town if you were anything but one hundred percent dinkum normal Australian white bread all the way; and who knows if this is why R.M. hit the lonesome trail and skedaddled out of there? He ended up in Adelaide, the capital city of this fair state to get himself an education. Flash forward a few years and he was sure he could do something with his life to help cattle men and horse riders have a nice day, so he went into the production of boots. Leather boots. He did very well with that, and soon moved on to clothing that could survive the outback and the hard life of a drover - and still make a fellows arse look good. The thing about R.M. Williams' clothing is this: it tends to make a bloke look pretty darn sexy. Sexier than a cow or a horse, especially to the women folk. This proved to be good for the economy. It helped R.M. make his first million dollars and become one of the quintessential Australian brands. Over the years they have had great moments in business in Australia, expanding bit by bit. The best secret about R.M. Williams' products for Adelaide folk is the outlet store. The city based store at what was once called 'The Gallery' when shopping malls were all the new rage, is a fine store and they treat you very nice in there; but if you are not so rich as the folk who buy all their clothing there, make your way over to the 'outlet' stores there's one at: R.M.Williams Outlet Store 5 Percy Street, Prospect (08) 8344 8191 as well as the R.M.Williams Factory Shop, 121 Frost Road, Salisbury (08) 8259 1090 (08) 8259 1090 just for the record. Everything to make your potato pie of a fellow look like a dashing hunk of John Wayne for a high end fashion price. But you only have to kit him out once with one outfit to make him look like this, and he will forever be branded on your mind as an outback hero, drop dead gorgeous with the cutest arse you ever did see. Shirts, hats, boots, belts, pants... everything to wrap him up with, and then rip off of him because it makes him so magnetically handsome. Talk about your sex bomb!

I'm pretty much the least 'country' type person you can get. I'm all about the bright lights, big…read morecity, so it may be hard for the reader to imagine any reason for me (or themselves) to enter this store. But there's one: the boots. While the clothing is all neat, button up shirts and beige slacks and cowboy hats, (I just cruised straight by) the leather boots from RM Williams are a thing of beauty. Made of leather and tough as nails (they're built for the rough and ready conditions of farm life, after all), these are some hard wearing, comfy and well designed boots. Despite being far from the target market, the staff didn't bat an eyelid when myself and my heavily bearded, heavily hipster BF came by to check out the boots, and they were SUPER helpful. No, the boots are not cheap. But put it this way: you're supporting an Aussie (wait, a SOUTH Aussie) business, and these boots are likely to last you 10 or more years. I wear mine constantly, even teamed with cute dresses over summer - they're some of the best music festival shoes of all time. News alert: you don't need a horse to shop here.

Now you may be looking for the bits and pieces to put your own saddle together or to repair a well loved saddle, that is a no brainer really; but you may also be looking for leather for a completely different reason - for example doing some handicrafts like making belts or something like a purse. Well it will be worth looking in here for craft leather as well, and Wayne is pretty smart, he knows what you will want in terms of quality and finish. This is not a glamorous store, it is pragmatic. The difference is you may need to go searching rather than stand in one spot and see everything from that vantage point - that's why it's good to know what you are looking for and to be able to say so. Wayne is going to ask, or if he's not there - one of his staff will ask "may I help you?" and once they do all you need to do is explain what you are after and they will sort it out for you. You will find a variety of belts, buckles, saddlery hardware, rug canvas and linings, leather craft materials, webbing and ropes - most of this is for the discerning horse owner, those off you into dressage or jumping, but it is also for the leather handicraft enthusiast, so check it out. Clean, well kept fresh leather, well lit if not a little like a jumble sale at a first glance, we wouldn't want it any other way!

What a great recommendation it turned out to be! It was the best price I could find at the time and having worked down the road it was a eureka moment when I found it was there in store. Ideal Shoe Repair performs a great service to the local residents, workers and passers by as they cut keys and repair leather goods and the prices are reasonable. Besides selling hand bags they also sell lugguage and accesories like belts, shoe laces, shoe inserts and scraves plus jewellery and umbrellas. Being a dealer in leather they also sell leather protection such as polish, sprays and sealants for leather and suede, even motor bike accesories. Service is fast and friendly and keys are cut on the spot unless there's a few to do and depending on their work load, but overall a great long standing shop which has recently seen a facelift.

I was walking up and down the small store with no attention paid to me, until more customers walked out with their purchases. The first shop assistant lady kept grabbing the lower-priced handbags and showed it to me, asking me, "Would she like these red handbags?...." I can't let temptation take over me, because those dark red shiny handbags that looks that shiny and well-designed MUST be well over my price range.... But here's the thing...the shop assistant will slowly build it up. She strategically gives you the pale red handbags (more affordable, yet still bloody expensive) first - I'm talking about the ones that are closest to the window, then bam! dark red! then bam! she finally gives you the most expensive ones (Limited Editions) in store. Before long, your blood pressure is at an all time high and you have to think fast of your exit statement. I just gotta keep dreaming until that day when I can afford any of this stuff for my future partner. Expect to have a near heart attack when you ask her for the price of the handbag (with Swavorski crystals of course)...wait for it...BAM!! 500 DOLLARS!! Are you kidding? Can this amazing handbag be more expensive than some of the really expensive dresses I've seen in Adelaide?? But that's not all! Oroton has some sweet looking jewellery in a glass case in the middle of the store. They even have a small section for mens ties, accessories, and a bunch of high quality lingerie towards the back wall. Seriously though, me, pay you $600 for a woman's handbag? Ummm....you're really gorgeous but no, thanks. All I'm sayin' is that if Rundle Mall gets a bit boring and sleepy, just step inside this store, and it's guaranteed to raise your bpm. In terms of high price stores, this definitely intimidated me. Give me a few years, I'll be back ;)

They make a lot of these shoes in the factory here, but not all of them, some you'd call imports! It has really good off street parking and it's barely five minutes out of the city centre, so it is a very good spot to do some shoe shopping women! Okay, tell your best friend and your poorest friend but only them; it would be horrible to think they are suffering from scrunched up feet or wet feet from holey shoes. But if you go telling everyone they may sell out! Actually there's a lot of stock, and it is a good variety - the only thing that says this is a shoe warehouse direct to public style of store is the blandness of the interior, but really, who needs plush carpets and snazzy lighting to wiggle their toes? Actually if you tell more than your poorest and best friend, you may bring in some more customers and then between you if you all go together you could end up buying three purchases. If you buy three things and each are worth $50.00 or more you are entitled to a "Loyalty Discount Qualification" (!) which is a 10% discount off of all purchases for twelve months... Not bad eh! Maybe you should tell everyone. Who doesn't love a discount voucher - in a shoe shop even?!

She really likes shoes…read moreso this one time that I actually went there I left with I think around 6 pairs of (her) shoes in my car. If you weren't looking for it, you would probably not notice it was there. There is literally no indication that there is a shoe shop on that street unless you happen to catch a glimpse of the big red sign (and read what it says) as you drive past. If you do happen to notice the sign, when you turn in all you will see is a parking area with a door towards the end on the right hand sign. Very unassuming, but for the female shoe shopper looking for a bargain, definitely a treat. As a factory outlet store, the shoes they sell there are cheaper than what you'd normally find in Myer or David Jones. Also, they don't sell cheap shoes either and are they actually stock good quality shoes with actual brand names like diane ferari (I can't believe I know this stuff). From boots, to casual shoes to heels, it's a plain looking shop on the inside, but what it makes up for in lack of flash is in its wide selection of shoes for the shoe hungry female shopper.
